We do have a serious asthma problem in the states yet no deaths from this virus!

Are you continuing the fear mongering? Adding what to the topic? More what ifs?, maybe? Could be?

If it didn't originate in Missouri please show me where the outbreak began!!!

Haven't found where this outbreak started, but I found this interesting

A: Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is one of many non-polio enteroviruses. This virus was first identified in California in 1962, but it has not been commonly reported in the United States.

The point is I have no idea where this started, other than the first reports were from Missouri. Breitbart has no idea where this started and the members posting here have no idea where this started.

So they will use it to attack illegals. Even though free trade agreements has goods moving constantly over our southern border, so lets all blame illegals even though there is no evidence this virus is south of the border....

Past epidemiological studies shows that HEV-D68 is particularly prevalent in Central America, such as this quote from the study "Human rhinoviruses and enteroviruses in influenza-like illness in Latin America"

Our high prevalence of HRV and HEV identification in young Latin Americans indicates that pharmacotherapy against influenza virus or the common bacterial etiologies of respiratory disease should not be presumptive, but guided by diagnostic confirmation when available in this population.

Suggests that it's not hard to imagine this outbreak being traced to illegal children - remember, they're not all being sent to holding facilities, many are being sent directly to relatives, so there's not going to be a direct correlation to holding facilities and outbreaks.

I think it's pretty likely this strain and most/all of this outbreak would ultimately be tied to Central American children.

Now, what you do with that, don't know - this particular outbreak is probably no big deal (unless, of course, it's your child.)

I have to say, my biggest problem with things of this nature is the government seems pretty reluctant to release any information that would provide anti-immigration activists any ammunition - "lie" if you want to put it bluntly.

I mean, I think I have the absolute right to know things like:

- number of felonies committed by people in the country illegally in my country/state/county by year.
- Of those arrested for felonies, what are their dispositions - jail, deportation, released to the communities?
- Of those released to the communities, how many re-offended - what type of crimes, how many of each?
- How many illegal immigrant children are in my school district, and what are the costs?
- What are the costs to my community in terms of Medicaid health services for illegal immigrants?
- Of the recent outbreaks of diseases detected in my community, were they traced to their source, and who was it?

That last is important to me - my community has seen measles, malaria, TB, lice, etc - the closest they came to identifying a "source" publicly was malaria, when they said the source was from "individuals who had no permanent ties to the community and have since moved on." To where? Who were they? Dunno. Sounds to me like the transient migrants who live here for awhile, some to try and get work, others to do illegal things. Many get rooms in illegal boarding houses while many others setup camps out in the woods and parks.

A recent measles outbreak I heard through the grapevine came from a Korean national; TB to a Chinese national. Legal immigrants? Illegal aliens? Tourists? Dunno.

If the government were more forthcoming, and more honest in releasing this kind of data which you know already exists, I think there'd be less room for people to just "fill-in-the-blanks" with their own supposition.

You want to stop conspiracy theories, don't lie, don't hide data, or obfuscate.

So the government won't release info, perhaps they don't know?

So the government won't release info so it must be illegals?

So we will make stuff up and support it!!!

BTW TB plus the antibiotic resistant form has been tested for in our jails and prisons for decades.

So it is dang hard to find any info prior to this year, regarding the cluster outbreaks from 2008-2012. They were only in 3 States.
We have never had an outbreak as large as this. Apparently it is now in Canada as well.

I find it interesting, that we have identified this in 1962, but Doctors are claiming that they don't know if it has mutated, to make it crazy easy to spread?
And it does appear that it showed up in IL and MO at the same time.

From 2012:

Human enterovirus 68 (EV-D68) is a historically rarely reported virus linked with respiratory disease. In the past 3 years, a large increase in respiratory disease associated with EV-D68 has been reported, with documented outbreaks in North America, Europe and Asia. In several outbreaks, genetic differences were identified among the circulating strains, indicating the presence of multiple clades. In this report, we analyse archived and novel EV-D68 strains from Africa and the USA, obtained from patients with respiratory illness. Phylogenetic analysis of all EV-D68 sequences indicates that, over the past two decades, multiple clades of the virus have emerged and spread rapidly worldwide. All clades appear to be currently circulating and contributing to respiratory disease.

So this appears to be emerging world wide, however it seems to be only recently that it has exploded in the number of cases:

Between 1970 and 2005 only 26 clinical isolates of EV-D68 were reported in the USA, representing 0.1 % of all clinical EV isolates (Khetsuriani et al., 2006). Over the past 3 years, however, outbreaks in Japan, the Philippines and the Netherlands, as well as several clusters in the USA, have implicated EV-D68 as an emerging respiratory pathogen (Hasegawa et al., 2011; Imamura et al., 2011; Kaida et al., 2011; Meijer et al., 2012; Rahamat-Langendoen et al., 2011; Tokarz et al., 2011;Ikeda et al., 2012; Jacobson et al., 2012).

So far, all cases reported have not resulted in any fatalatoes, but that has not always been the case:

The clinical presentation of EV-D68 infections in these outbreaks has ranged from mild illness to complications requiring hospitalization and, in rare instances, death. In all reports, children represented the majority of symptomatic infections. In several clusters, novel genetic variants were described (Hasegawa et al., 2011; Imamuraet al., 2011; Kaida et al., 2011; Meijer et al., 2012; Rahamat-Langendoen et al., 2011;Ikeda et al., 2012; Jacobson et al., 2012).

Worldwide emergence of multiple clades of enterovirus 68

Now what they need to do is sequence the strain(s) that is(are) circulating amd.compare them to known strains in order to determine the root strain and from whence they descend.

Two things I found when digging.
One report said only 100 cases, from 1962 to 2012, but that may have been due to being hard to diagnose.

The second is that there is a confirmed death, of a child in Alabama? (I'll go look)
But it said the reason was that the parents did not get the child medical treatment, and they are being investigated.

So the government won't release info, perhaps they don't know?

So, when the government arrests and convicts someone of a felony, they don't know who they are? They collect stats on everything when they arrest someone - they know the age, race, name, economic status, education, blood type of the offender, they know the race, age, name of their victims, and they collect those statistics. See Uniform Crime Reporting, National Incident-Based Reporting System, ViCAP, IAFIS, NGI, etc ...

As for the source of this particular disease, I don't know, and as I said, it'll probably never rise to the level of proven.

The point is, which I'm 100% positive you'll refuse to understand, based on your over-the-top response, is that if the government were open and transparent about all of those other things I mentioned, people would be far more likely to trust them when they say "We don't know."

Since they're accustomed to the government hiding things from them, they just assume the worst.

The short sightedness and political agendas of this administration will be our undoing.

I agree with this.

That is the biggest reason after 7 amnesties the border has not been secured.

They don't want it to be.

I am curious to see what happen if a massive outbreak of ebloa would happen in Mexico on the scale we have seen in Africa.

Either way the government benefits from illegal immigration-more voters for one party.

And they still benefit from a pandemic.

As ALWAYS the biggest losers when it comes to our government are US.

They could care less on capitol shill.

I think you got my post mistaken, I never mentioned anything about Missouri. But I agree with others that people coming across the borther from countries that do not practice immunization and people that never have received any kind of health care can bring and spread diseases that we no longer worry about.

As a matter of fact today in one of the channels I was watching while my husband was getting eye surgery, the panel of doctors were warning American parents about no having their children vaccinated as many childhood diseases are doing a comeback.

The only way childhood diseases make a comeback is due to the disease been introduced into the environment.

People that say they haven't been hearing about the illness in their area and that some of them even live in border states just aren't hearing about it because they are not being told. I live down south and there are so many kids sick around here it isn't funny. Just because local news liars aren't reporting it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Several kids in more then one town around here have been so sick they had doctors notes and even hospital visits or stays...especially our kids that also have Asthma.

I know a lot of ranchers in Texas and they are so sick of finding garbage and dead half eaten cattle of theirs and human excrement laying out in the open...All of that HAS to breed/bring disease. To say nothing of the "quickie" med checkups and then the kids are sent on their way. Come on...our kids need like what, 39 or more vaccines before starting school and these other kids get a quick once over and sent along. Don't tell me they are getting all kinds of vaccines...especially at once, their bodies couldn't get that many at once...so, they get held over for one to 3 days and sent on. The incubation period for many diseases to present symptoms takes 3 days in some cases, many times longer then that. There is no way those illegal kids are checked properly and NO guarantee that they are illness free. Many have scabies and lice and even TB so their immune systems are compromised already.

None of this crap has anything to do with so called "parties"/Dems/Repubs...it is about something else.

Our kids are held to such high standards when it comes to health checkups and shots for school...the border kids are not. Perhaps some are being shipped directly to areas around the country with only a quick look in their ears/eyes/throat...that is not enough. We gotta pay a fortune to have our kids readied for school and the illegals don't and what little is done...who pays for that, us? Who is paying for that long list of school supplies/uniforms/clothes/medical checkups that aren't and so forth that us American parents get every year. We get a longer list of needs for school supplies every year. It costs us....how about them?

I agree, we have "sanitation" practices, rules and laws, many developing countries do not practice sanitation rules, because they have none, we just don't pull our pants down and defecate in the streets anymore, many diseases are due to lack of proper sanitation practices.

Some people like younger generations that never knew how it was before having a toilet and clean running water will never understand how things used to be.

Wait a minute, there is something not right about this theory.
I live in a border state that has illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America entering everyday and yet no reported cases here. This doesn't add up.

Almost sounds like a right wing hatchet job to me. Let's scare everyone about the big bad illegal children by tying this disease to them. I'm not buying it.

The reason is because the illegals coming across the border are taken to process centers, and military bases, and kept separate for the populations of the border states. It's after they are shipped to the heartland and enrolled in public schools that the illness shows up in the general population.

my 2 cents worth: as much as I'm all against illegal immigration and would like to blame them for everything.it seams to me there lack of proper health care and sub standard living conditions would ,to a point ,make there immune system stronger than American youth that get taken to a Dr. every time they sneeze

This has been going on for years and years, since the late 1940's and early 1950's. The issue here is that no one wants to take the politically inconvient stance on doing something and ensuring it gets done. This has been a hot button issue, that the federal government could have taken care of long ago and it keeps getting worse and worse.

Can you really say that you would assault a child who is under 10, all cause that child is an illegal immigrant? I could not see doing such and would not support violence against children.

So I have to ask, who didn't see this coming. Especially considering the practically open southern border and the flood of illegals who are being whisked away all over the country by the Feds. Are we now reaping what the Feds have sown?

Doctor: Gov’t ‘Tight-Lipped’ on Respiratory Virus, May be From Illegals

Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, reported that the government has been “real tight-lipped” about the mysterious respiratory illness that has struck children in the United States, expressed concern that the illegal immigrant minors from Central America could be the source, and argued that the government should devote more resources to border security to combat the spread of disease.

Orient added “we don’t know where it’s coming from...are there immigrants from Central America, where this disease has allegedly been prevalent before? Should we be [looking at] the virus to see whether it’s like what’s been found in some of these countries that are just sending waves of children across our border and they haven’t been quarantined long enough to make sure they’re not sick?”

The short sightedness and political agendas of this administration will be our undoing. Or do illegals flooding the country have nothing to do with this story. I'm thinking they just might.

It really bothers me when I read stuff like "This administration" or "its the democrats/republicans" because IMO its the globalist bankers and their associates(think CFR). DEM VS REP IS a false dichotomy to keep the people at each others throats while a global socialist agenda is implemented. While we may be seeing more Marxist leaning polies coming out of this administration the truth is they are all racists and they all have been since shortly after the second world war. The politicians are all bought, the ones who are not have absolutely ZERO CHANCE of EVER being elected to a position of high power and influence. Bottom line: they all answer to the same masters. For those of you who may care to see the evidence and the chronological progression of this a great place to start would be "Rise of the Fourth Reich" and "The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy" by Jim Mares just to name a couple. They are excellently written, rigorously researched, well sourced books.

As far as the flow of illegals over the border its all part of the plan to break the US with the end goal of one global government. It is 100% intentional and is the result of the actions or lack thereof by both parties. If terrorism was such a real threat than why did G.W. Bush think it a good idea to leave our borders wide open and literally encourage illegal entry for minors with his anti human trafficking law? Why do you think the de!s want amnesty? Republicans seem to forgot about Regan's amnesty program! Its a ploy to divide people so were to busy fighting to notice what the man behind the curtain is up to. As far as enterovirus68 is concerned it may well have come from central America and carriers may have entered with the full knowledge of some federal officials. Just my 2 pennies...

I still want to see the correlation between the illegal immigrants that have been shipped around the country and the outbreak hotspots. The Border Patrol were saying months ago that many of the children coming across the border were sick, many with respiratory diseases of some kind. I don't think its much of a stretch to think this is cause and effect.
