Powerful X1.6-class Solar Flare

I currently live in Southern part of Pennsylvania. I took a look outside, but I didn't see anything. Too far south I guess.

Some of the updates have mentioned your state. Keep looking northward. It can go on for hours.

Just got a text from Space Weather:

"The Planetary Kindex has reached a level of 7. A strong geomagnetic storm is in progress. Sky watchers should be alert for auroras."

Ok glad you got a chance to see it, but I don't understand what was wrong in my post. It was from swpc saying just what you said, that it was a chance to see the light show .

nope it's done it hit a kp index 7 now it's going down 4 for now
your timing 23:35UTC=19:35 east coast and the peak was like i said 21:45 to 22:45 east

Oh well it's from a prediction Center. That was the last update issued. I don't work there and can't provide live updates. All updates I have posted are the latest available to the public

You do understand that the time given In the update is the time it is issued ( published) and not the time it will happen, right?

I've been linking all through this thread if you read it and I've said I'm getting it from my app. I'm stuck using an iPad for this and once I'm copying and pasting , I can't go back and get another copy into the same reply. It's why many of my posts contain edits because I will post one thing then try to edit the link in.

SERVICE OUTAGE: On Sept. 12th, Spaceweather.com was offline for more than 12 hours during the most intense geomagnetic storm of the year. Ironically, the outage was not caused by solar activity. A hardware failure in the network of our Internet service provider brought the web site down at the worst possible time. Webmaster Dr. Tony Phillips apologizes to our readers, alert subscribers, and advertisers for the outage. We are taking steps to make sure this cannot happen again.

If you care to look at my "computer pics, you will see the source is on them, as I said they are from swpc.

Nobody else has had a problem with my posts. You come along and complain and don't clarify what your complaint is. I don't know if it's a time issue or link.

You could just politely request a link. Or contribute something useful

Next time clarify what you mean please.
As I said it's the latest update being provided by the best source there is.
Times are issued in UTC , universal time code. It's up to you to determine the time for your time zone.
