It is vital that people know that Muslims are condemning the IS as strongly as anyone.

This is important so people can know Islam is against this insanity and are in union with other voices who condemn the IS, and also to spread the word to any Muslims who have been deceived enough to consider joining this monstrous group

Faced with the unrelenting reports about the sufferings of Christians and other minorities in Iraq and Syria, even Christians who are friendly toward Muslims can be perplexed and ask, “Why aren’t Muslims speaking out against these atrocities?” The answer is: Muslims have been speaking out in the strongest terms, condemning the crimes against humanity committed by ISIS (or, as it is increasingly called, IS) and others in the name of Islam. So, why do we not hear more of this? The first reason is because Islam is not a structurally centralized religion. Unlike, for example, Catholicism, there is no one person or institution that can speak with authority for all Sunnis or even all Shiites — to say nothing of speaking for all Muslims around the world.

The second reason is that there is a huge number of newspapers in Muslim countries throughout the world. Many, if not most, of these newspapers appear in languages unfamiliar to people in the West. Sometimes, it is not a question of Muslims speaking out, but of others just not hearing. Often, the “not hearing” happens because people do not have access to sources or just do not speak the same language. But the voices are out there. And an important media monitoring group has turned up the volume, to make sure more hear them.

In a scathing July 24, 2014 editorial on the issue, the London-based Qatari daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi stated that the targeting in Mosul of Christians, who have been part of the history and culture of Iraq for centuries, is the most extensive ethnic cleansing of modern times, and a black mark upon the reputation of Islam and the Muslims. The paper went on to call on moderate Muslims to condemn these terrible actions of the “cancerous” and “terrorist” IS, lest they become complicit in a crime against humanity.

Egyptian sociologist and human rights activist Sa’d Al-Din Ibrahim wrote in his weekly column for the Egyptian daily Al-Masri Al-Yawm that the IS’s barbaric, racist and murderous treatment of Christians, unprecedented in the history of the Arab East, is reminiscent of the Nazis and Tatars, and does great harm to Islam. He called upon the Arab League to condemn the IS’s actions. Read more: www.patheos.com...

UPDATE: There has actually been more Muslim criticism of ISIS than many in the West may realize, and it has gone largely unreported. Read more: www.patheos.com...

Last week, the Islamic Society of North America, the largest and oldest umbrella organization of its kind in the country, released this statement:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned as “un-Islamic and morally repugnant” violence and hostilities perpetrated by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and repudiated those who encourage Americans to join that and other extremist groups. …No religion condones the murder of civilians, the beheading of religious scholars or the desecration of houses of worship. We condemn the actions of ISIS and reject its assertion that all Muslims are required to pay allegiance to its leader. “CAIR strongly urges American imams and other community leaders to continue to speak out against American Muslims traveling abroad to join extremist groups and sectarian militias. While ISIS uses romanticized imagery in its propaganda materials, its human rights abuses on the ground are well-documented.”

A statement on the Imams Online website says, “Senior British imams have come together to emphasize the importance of unity in the UK and to decree ISIS as an illegitimate, vicious group who do not represent Islam in any way.” They hope the four-minute film will serve to counter the “digital propaganda” disseminated by ISIS, which has been noted for its heavy use of social media. Specifically, their goal is to strongly urge young Britons from traveling to Iraq and Syria to take part in the conflict. They also denounced Sunni-Shiite sectarianism, as earlier this week ISIS destroyed Shiite mosques and shrines. “We are Muslims united against ISIS, against terrorism, against atrocity, against pain and suffering,” says Sayed Ali Rizvi, head of the Majlis Ulama-e-Shia group, in the video. A statement from ISIS exhorted Muslims worldwide to join them upon their declaration of an Islamic Caliphate led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. “It is incumbent upon all Muslims to pledge allegiance to (him) and support him,” it said. “As a Sunni Muslim, I do not accept the Caliphate of ISIS, I consider ISIS as a terrorist organization,” said Maulana Shahid Raza, of Leicester Central Mosque. Abu Muntasir, chief executive of the charity organiztion JIMAS, said, “Brothers and sisters, if I could tell you in one sentence about ISIS I would tell you that they are evil, they are corrupt, they are self-seeking, self-centered, vicious people. Don’t get mixed up with them.” Read more: www.patheos.com...

I am so happy to hear this.

I urge all Muslims who feel the Islamic State of IS will stain Islam the same way the Crusades have stained Christians, to stand up like the Imam.

The only way to restore the honor of your God is to stand up
be publically counted
through facebook
through tweets
through blogs
because the Islamic State of IS is very internet savy as they have shown with their beheading postings

To restore the honor of the God of Islam
Muslims should also
have huge rallies and marches throughout the entire world

To be more angry at the stain on Allah, on Muhammad and on all Muslims that has been created by the Islamic State of IS

That is the ONLY way to stop them, for Muslims to show them they are wrong
Because non-Muslims are all seen as infidels to be killed and can never have the kind of influence over them
that the good Muslims can

It doesn't surprise me that these guys, or at least one of them, is ignorant as to why it is called the "united kingdom". Doesn't have anything to do with Muslims.

Similar thread here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

But I feel this could be a good one on it's own for people to post links from various sources or to comment on the issue as a whole.

I will add that the Kurds deserve mention here, as they are predominantly muslim but have been battling ISIS for some time now, not only in Iraq, but in Syria as well, and have been protecting religious minorities.

Here is an interesting article from VICE news: Meet the PKK. It details the actions of a Kurdish rebel group that has been labeled as a terrorist organization by the U.S (Due to their fight for autonomy in Turkey) that has been fighting against ISIS in both Syria and Iraq along side the Peshmerga forces. Clearly there are Muslims in their ranks who have decided not only to condemn ISIS, but to risk their lives to end it.

Utah Muslims Speak Out Against ISIS Atrocities

SANDY (ABC4 News) - Horrific acts committed by ISIS in Syria and Iraq are being condemned by Muslims in Utah who say they have no tolerance for those kidnapping, torturing and killing in the name of their religion. "Islam stands for peace. It stands for goodness," Muhammed S. Mehtar, the Imam of the Khadeeja Islamic Center in West Valley City told ABC4 News Wednesday. "You get these few rotten groups out there...They give Islam and Muslims a bad name." The Imam of the Utah Islamic Center in Sandy, Shuaib Din agrees. "To be honest I'm disgusted and a little bit angry because somehow people seem to connect their actions with Islam," Imam Shuaib said. "When those actions first of all are un-Islamic and their actions do not represent Islam and Muslims." Imam Muhammed added that the ISIS members committing these acts are not really Muslims.

A Muslim's Ramadan Message to ISIS: You Don't Speak for Islam

The terrorist organization ISIS has set a new low standard of barbarity and inhumanity. Their most recent act of terrorism is a demand that Christians either convert, pay the jizya, leave their homes, or be killed. Their destruction of an 1800-year-old church in Mosul is painful, condemnable without exception, and wholly in violation of every Qur'anic principle. In fact, the Qur'an 22:41 specifically commands Muslims to protect Churches from destruction.

What Muslim leader of any country has denounced the atrocity against humanity that these ISIS pigs have done? Its all fine and well that some editors in a Muslim newspaper mention it, but, until entire Muslim led country leaders speak out it doesn't really mean much. If Muslims are so upset why don't they stop ISIS? In their hearts they want a Muslim utopia in the world, a world where women mean less than a dog, where death penalties are performed by citizens, where there is only anarchy and not democracy, I could go on but I think I made my point. ANY religious zealot that claims they kill in the name of God does not represent any God I would believe in. The Nazi's were Christians and guess who stopped them, other Christians!!!!

It’s really little excuse to keep propagating the myth that Muslims don’t condemn terrorism.

Particularly in the age of such widespread information.

I could come up with numerous other links but the few speak to the point enough.

Also my personal experience with Muslims.

In all seriousness who has been calling for this sort of condemnation for years? Many sane and logical non-Muslims and with little response. It is only now that one group has gone full psycho that we see this "unity"? It is only now that the raw naked madness of one particular Muslim group threatens at last to bring the ire of the world down on the whole show? AND that British Muslims are implicated.

This is just desperate PR.

Indonesia worlds largest Muslim country bans ISIS.

Jakarta. The Indonesian government on Monday officially banned the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, saying the militant outfit should not be allowed to spread its teachings in the archipelago.

“The government bans ISIS from developing in Indonesia, because it goes against the ideology of Pancasila, the unitary Indonesian nation-state and pluralism,” Djoko Suyanto, coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, said during a press conference at the president’s office on Monday. “Every attempt to promote ISIS should be prevented, Indonesia should not be the place to spread [this ideology].”

Yea they need to condemn ISIS so the regular Sunni/Shia festivities can continue with their regular programing.

I contend the only reason some are doing this is to get the heat of their azz in the wake of calls for another "crusade".

ISIS does not practice Islam. They are some of the most blood thirsty psychopaths I've ever heard of, well since Vlad the impaler and maybe the Mexican cartels.... Beheadings is not a Muslim tradition, it's freaking satanic.

If someone is dumb enough to think ISIS is synonymous to Islam, well, it's their problem.. Maybe you lack the intellectual capabilities to understand the complexities of geo-politics or you're just gullible and swallow everything MSM tells you.

They are the real definition of terrorists. And the brave Kurdish rebels(PKK) who are fighting ISIS are also considered a terrorist organization by the West. How ironic...

Abuse of the word "terrorist" by the western media is at fault here, but ISIS just reminded us what terrorism is really about......

It's nice to hear some Muslims are speaking out against this. However, they understand they're necks are just as vulnerable against this movement. The caliph requires all Muslims to move to the Islamic State. They must fall in line behind the Caliph. That was the message of his video.

ISIS wants a caliphate, even people with less intelligence than you understand what that is. Its a Muslim world right? Show me a Muslim that doesn't want that in their heart. Give me a break. I believe in freedom, not a one world government ruled by some religious zealot. Muslims can believe what ever they want, they can worship how ever they wish, but, when they push their doctrine on me, especially with violence, I get upset. That is how wars start in case history hasn't taught us that yet. I still say, why aren't the Muslims stopping these ISIS pigs if they are so concerned???

The majority of Muslims oppose terrorism. Its morons and mouth pieces like Brigitte Gabriel that spread the fear and lies that a good many Muslims support terrorism. According to these people give or take 300 million Muslims are terrorists or supporters of terrorism. The USofA has give or take 300 million people. Imagine if so many people we terrorists I'd imagine groups like ISIS would be HUGE! I mean at least 100,000 strong, and that's being very conservative. The violence would be endless and Shari Law would have already been installed and the caliphate going strong. But in reality, that's not reality.

So it's a shame threads like this have to be created to show people that Muslims do not support extremist murderers like ISIS. (not offence to you OP, keep it up the good work!)
