Why wouldn't it seem like a good idea to certain demographics? You've gotta look at the subtleties of it. The purge is about a rare exception to the rule where it's the sheltered white people who end up on the wrong end of a pogrom that up until that point had done nothing but eliminate the people they feared most and created abundance and security for themselves. It's a zombie movie for people who wouldn't get enough joy out of killing someone who didn't beg for mercy.

Rich white children scare the hell out of me, and I more or less grew up as one of them. Thank god my family went broke on one level- I look at these people and I feel like I narrowly avoided being bitten by some kind of retardation vampire.

Guys, most of the calls going into police are hoaxes...probably mostly from 4Chan...they have a pretty big thread over there of the pranks they are calling in.

Pretty much all the calls about kittens being assaulted, sex toys, stingrays, giraffes, and masked machete carrying men are pranks from 4chan.

Not lost on me at all, being outside of the green zone and a lot more of a human being than I once was. But I didn't bring the whole freakin' human race with me on that trip, and reality as it stands now already demonstrates that certain interests are served by senseless violence that could be checked more than it is.

There are neighborhoods were you seldom see police and it's not really because the police are afraid to go there.

This time it was a hoax but I can envision, in the not too far off distant future where it is actually played out. This world is getting so bassackwards and so full of nut jobs and hot tempered a** wholes.

We humans are very gullible and most will believe anything.

Well I am really glad is was just prank calls! Making a false report to emergency services is a crime so I would almost like to see some kids get in a bit of trouble for the crank calls, but at the same time feeling like its probably a stupid waste of resources and time to worry about...Their parents should have spanked them more growing up though. Probably what's wrong with society these days.

And I must apologize for saying Louisville people were crazy since they were the only one's actually doing it, when they weren't doing it at all... so my bad and I do apologize to all Louisville people! Your not so bad after all!



Maybe the purge was one for stupidity... make us think twice before we take everything we hear as true, even if we are hearing them on the police scanner.

I can state for a fact that from 6pm thru 10pm there was no purge in Louisville. There was a heck of a Star Trek parody at The Alley Theater though! Absolutely ridiculous and hilarious, can't wait to see more shows there.

Anyway, seemed the "threat" of this purge did not deter anyone from going downtown last night.

It's real only in the sense that it was an internet meme/prank that carried over into real life via flyers, phone calls, etc.. and was a concern - silly and stupid or not - in several communities around the country - particularly Louisville.

You'll note the skepticism and sarcasm expressed throughout this thread...even some concern about whether a portion of the "scanner traffic" was spoofed somehow.

So, it was an actual phenomenon, mind-numbing as it may be..., just not the "Purge". *rolls eyes*
