Riddle me this, if ISIS is our attack dog, then why are they being used against the Kurds? They've been left alone since the invasion of Iraq began in 2003, why hit them now?

He has better teeth than me
a reply to: Taggart

Probably because he doesnt have access to the western world soft drinks, smoking and other chemicals that make your teeth go bad.

I realized that africans have exceptionally healthy teeth...

Interesting point and very true. My point was combined with the Ray bans though, the combination
of the two makes you instantly think of western culture, the thing he wants to destroy.
I'm no dentist but it looked like a mouth of veneers. Pretty sure smoking is worldwide though.

These are the same people that burn books, don't let women and girls attend schools, and blow up priceless ancient religious sites and destroy historical artifacts in the name of their god. Good luck convincing them to de-radicalize with information.

I was not talking about de-radicalise them with information, what I meant was how things reached this point (lack of information) and how it can be (possibly) solved in the future.

Yes, we have a long history of paying off warlords, thugs, and extremists. No one denies this. But just because we bought them, doesn't mean they stay bought.

The problem appears to be that nobody has learned that lesson in all these years...

paying, buying extremists??? (I guess sometimes, as well)

USA is creating extremists, that is what I was saying and not only indirectly but by using highly trained operatives who are "leaders" of many such groups.

I am not excusing any of the idiot extremists who fall for the fake ideals and spoils of war but it is more important who is behind the wheel.

and it is pretty obvious;

even if you go strictly with official line there is a wealth of information about CIA (among other organizations) involved in secret operations in

hostile countries and regions, and all high threat military or intelligence operations with which the U.S. government does not wish to be overtly associated.

if the theory that ISIS somehow did a double cross I am sure US military and NATO and whoever will deal with them in no time; I doubt that is the case and I doubt that will happen.

Special Activities Division

CIA paramilitary teams have been deployed to Syria to report on the uprising, to access the rebel groups, leadership and to potentially train, equip and lead one of those rebel groups against the Bashar al-Assad regime. In early September 2013, President Obama told U.S. Senators that the CIA had trained the first 50-man insurgent element and that they had been inserted into Syria

Buying -- yes. The entire opening salvo of Afghanistan consisted of Spec Ops and CIA going in with crates of money to buy off warlords. Their allegiance stands only as long the money lasts, or until a better offer comes along.

Yes we armed and trained rebels to overthrow Gaddafi, yes we did the same in Syria, yes many of those fighters defected to ISIS. But to say that all of them are the product of Western intelligence is over simplifying things.

The Islamic State (Part 3)

Life under Sharia Law -- Hisbah thugs enforcing fear with a smile. What a nightmare it must be for the people living there. Remember, Syria was a pretty modern country, with a secular government. Now the people of Raqqa are forced to adhere to the strictest interpretation of Islam. Having alcohol or smoking in public lands you in jail where you are beaten, drug use is punishable by death.

I never said "all of them" are the product of Western intelligence...

what I don't understand is how can anyone believe that ISIS is just an extremist group that went rogue.

here is a nice video - propaganda is obvious but it is sad people (even those thinking they're "denying ignorance") are falling for it even when the pattern is 99% same.

nice!

If ISIS is as you say, a 100% false enemy created by Western intelligence, then who is benefitting from this Caliphate? To what end are they being used? Why are we using them to attack Kurds who have been our allies all along?

Let's hear an answer in your words, no linked articles, no rambling youtube warriors, your opinion.

nothing is 100% anything. To believe so is ignorance. Even an actual employee of the CIA does so for their own ends - whether that is money, or principle... no matter.

I was in college and taking an easy course - foreign language, arabic, 5 credits... lol -(yes lazy...) anyway... she was going after a degree in linguistics, and because of her intelligence / future ability was approached by the CIA. They offered to pay for her college, and give her a VERY good salary when her college was over... all of it contractually agreed upon prior to it all.

I did sit and talk with her while she went over pros and cons etc. I believe she eventually felt like a career with the CIA was a good thing, not only for her personally, economically, but also globally... she believed in it. But her concern was a contractual agreement prior to even college.. that paid for it.

Eventually what she did was her own business, but she gave it much thought and did it for her own benefit and not anyone elses.

No matter what... nothing is 100% anything. There are always two sides to a story... sometimes three.

Just watched all 4 episodes-it says part 5 is out soon.

There is no reasoning with these people.
They are on another warped level entirely seperate from rational beings.

They have the "child indocrination system" really sussed sadly..Hitler would have been proud.

But guess what folks?
Like leaving it too long to go to the doctor when you find a lump-our governments have left this problem alone until its too late.

I hate to say it,but there is no point talking to IS.
People who think its great to show the kids enemy heads on sticks cannot be reasoned with.

But the world has let this evil grow, and we are now faced with a disaster of massive proportions.

Religion as a fuel for war...

This is why I have no religion. More people have died in the name of God then any President or King in history.

Names changed or not, I'm just more curious about how long they've been on the scene for.

They were formed, apparently, in 2000, by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, as Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, better know as JTJ and the ones responsible for the beheading of Nick Berg.

You know Nick Berg was already dead in that video right?

Many medical experts have stated it, and I only came across that info after seeing the video a couple years ago and thinking there is no way it was a live person. I used to be an EMT and I've seen some nasty stuff. There is no way Berg was alive. Actually the time stamps on the video also show massive discrepancies.

I understand, sorry didn't mean to sound accusational.

Actually I guess a connection could be made to the James Foley fake video also if it's the same organization. Strange... either way, both guys are dead for sure

Take a first hand look at the Caliphate sweeping across Syria and Iraq.

These videos are eye opening, and jaw dropping. What's frightening is their conviction, they truly believe they are fighting a holy war against the infidels. This is more than a gathering army, it is a religious movement, and you can't eradicate an ideology with bombs.

Parts 1 and 2 of a 5 part docu-series. Whoever from VIce hung around ISIS gathering this footage has got serious balls of steel.

WARNING:

Part 1 has some disturbing images.
