My BS meter is going off here.

About what? What he said is very accurate - I agree with him.

And he should know. He used to be one.

Loved the video, I wish I could be as calm and elocuent as him in the middle of a passionate discussion.

Alas...

It hits really close to home for me as well, I've been atheist since I can remember (humanist parents, never imposed any religion on us) but my fianceé is Christian and well...she has all these doubts, wich are difficult for me to help her figure out. And I can see the guilt of her thoughts and actions hurts her enormously.

And it saddens me to no end.

Cheers man, thanks for this.

What exactly did he say that was hostile????

And, um.
No, that's not me.
I'm puzzled how you came to that conclusion.
But ok.

And I should say.
The only hostility thus far I've detected is coming from you.

Maybe a little. I am human ya know. All I can say is that's the third time you've asked me the same question when my first answer should've been sufficient.

Also, twice now you've used one of this guys videos to start a thread with no summary or commentary of your own. Couple that with the fact that you seem to be taking my assessment personally, then maybe you won't be so puzzled as to why I would think that's you in the video.

Yep.
Still not a good excuse.
It would explain why you seem to be projecting then.
It is a common enough phenomena.

No, I've asked three times because you've answered me vaguely three times.
It appears you think that it's self evident but you'd think by now you'd notice by now that not everyone thinks so.

Also, twice now you've used one of this guys videos to start a thread with no summary or commentary of your own.

Is generally my Modus Operandi, yes.
Most of my OPs start out with very little info from me.
Oh wait, did you not take that into account?

I just happen to agree with what he said.

Keyword there, seem to.
I am starting to wonder if it isn't projection.
Rather like the hostility you can only vaguely refer to.

I'll just conclude with this, stop jumping to conclusions and going off half cocked, then trying to justify it as fact.
It'll only help you.

Help me what? And how could I have been more direct than "There is nothing hostile about the video"?

You could have told me what exactly he said to make you think he was hostile.

In the last few seconds of the video he says "if you wonder why some of them (atheists, agnostics, pagans, etc.) appear hostile towards your religion.... its because they think the experiment is unethical and they don't want to see children locked up in that cage blindfolded."

Now kindly go back and read my first post please because I think my assessment was spot on. If you're trying to say the guy has no hostilities towards the religious, I'll be more than happy to post a few more of his quotes if you like.

Well if you read close at what you posted he said "appear hostile" he did not say they are hostile nor did he say he is hostile. Appearances can be deceiving like the group of people at you door on Saturday morning claiming they can give you answers and deliver happiness or the scientologist offering you a free stress test that can answer all of your questions and give you insight into a better life.

Look just because atheists, agnostics, pagans are concerned that religious institutions are brainwashing and abusing children that doesn't mean we are hostile though it can appear that way to believers who are perpetrating such injustices on those children.

Grim beat me to it.

And just because he mentioned people seeming hostile does not mean he was hostile.

Oh please. No amount of sugar coating will ever convince me that being referred to as a Bible thumping nutcase only "appears" hostile.

How many times do I have to acknowledge that he wasn't hostile in this video?

lol... anytime someone says bible thumping I get a mental picture of those I have actually seen thumping their bible and in almost every case they were a nut case.

Sorry you feel that signifies hostility I just call that reality as they are bible thumping nutcases. I don't say that with hostility only pity for them and those like them.

I thought it was very well designed. Very accurate, yet non-offensive. Honestly, it would make a very good film - if made in a sort of "cult-classic" sort of way; dark and artistic.

Well his allegory seems good in some ways and other ways it seems too direct and obvious to me but I guess to someone who doesnt understand it wouldnt seem obvious.

Im just wondering if he thought of this himself or if he is quoting something he read elsewhere.

has it ever occured to you that atheists, agnostics, pagans, are not all the same. Has it occured to you that maybe we have a scientific belief, and think that people with religion seek religion because they dont want to be afraid of death. Why is it that the Religious are always quick to jump on their keyboards and slam non believers. If we have the respect to let you believe in what ever you like, how are you representing yourself by acting the same as some troll on the internet.
IF you truly believe, and you give all your faith to someone who has never shown theyre face and you have only read about, than why get mad at 1 person who disagrees, shouldnt you not care because your doing the right thing your your eyes.

I've never seen anyone thump their Bible, and I can count on one hand how many people I've met in my life that I would seriously consider nutcases... and I live in Mississippi!

You must live on a lake behind a nuclear power plant or something.

No but labeling someone as crazy or lacking intelligence for disagreeing with your worldview is.
