I get it, evil things were done in Iraq. But that doesn't stop all people from being kind to each other, and yes some might be soldiers. Intelligent people can see through a positive event uses as feel good propaganda.

Why was it ok for Hussein to kill the people he did? I see people complaining about the US while attributing body counts yet I never seen those people complaining about those same actions committed by the respective governments - Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc...

It was not ok and is not ok. But remember that Hussein was the guy US made business with even helped fuel the Iran Iraq war so that US would get the hands on Iran again after the Shah fell. Iraq was always a mess and trying civilize it only creates new infighting over power from lesser groups wanting to dominate one another (shia vs sunni vs kurdish). And now we have fundamentalistic Sunni/Wahhabi ISIS fighting Shia and Assad in Iraq/Syria to create the Caliphate with the help from Saudi Arabia. External countries always intervening creating an even bigger mess than it already is.

Snarky this is a beautiful OP and a wonderful video. I'm sorry you caught so much crap about this from people who have nothing better to do than complain about good things that happen to others.

I'm not jumping in to argue with anyone, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your post and the message along with it. I really wish we, as a country, would look to help others more and especially veterans who have done so much for this country.

Their pay was getting better. My son is making 15k a year less (with Housing allowance and dependents) than he could make in the private sector. 21 yrs. ago they made a lot less. Back in '83 when I left the active duty I made 4x more in a starting position in the private sector than I did as a Sargent in the Marines.

Em mm I must have been stupid to have served. Because I was making more money before.

Marines serve to protect their countrymen. They sure aren't their for the money!

I'm at a loss after reading these comments. Part of me is sad and the other part wants to give a virtual punch to the face to some of these posters. Maybe that's why I've been posting less and less. Humanity is with a few and the rest are spewing there version's of denying ignorance, basking in ignorance itself. Truly sad.

ATS is just not ATS. It's now a mainstream social media outlet for readers to spew garbage while a few gem(s) lay dormant for a good reading.

Military men and women of the United States swore an oath to uphold the constitution no matter what.

Every war since WW2, has not passed through congress. Therefore, every war since WW2 is unconstitutional.

That means every soldier that has volunteered or stayed in since that time are traitors to the United States.

So please, spare us all the innocent solider BS. These soldiers are as much to blame as the politicians.

Sweet! I wish the whole world operated like this. If anyone cared enough every person in need of a roof or a fix on something, it could be done until your whole town was upgraded and all working together and donating together it would take almost no time or money from each of us.

My "KIND"...? I did my time... And what you're saying is true but, to say anyone is fighting for our freedom is FALSE.... I don't care who made them go where or what they have to do, the point is they signed up knowing they will be deployed. So what? Let's not worry about the people who save actual lives, Doctors, Surgeons, Firefighters... No... Lets all focus on anyone who signs up to the military and call them a hero and give them praise no matter what they do... Give me a break..... The funny thing is that if this video was about a firefighter/doctor/nurse/janitor/average Joe then I would probably be very happy for the guy. If it was another country that was not constantly attacking other countries for corporate gain then I would also be happy for the guy and get a good feeling.
