Boehner Plans to File Suit Against Obama Over Alleged Abuse of Executive Power

House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he plans to file suit against President Obama over his alleged abuse of executive power.

"This is not about impeachment -- it's about him faithfully executing the laws of this country," Boehner said.

The speaker alleged that the president not only has ignored the law but "brags about it," decrying what he described as "arrogance and incompetence."

Boehner had been weighing such a lawsuit in recent days, over concerns that Obama exceeded his constitutional authority with executive actions. Republicans have voiced frustration with Obama's second-term "pen and phone" strategy of pursuing policy changes without Congress -- particularly environmental rules via the Environmental Protection Agency. Republicans also complained about numerous unilateral changes to the implementation of ObamaCare.

I am NOT a John Boehner fan, but it is about time someone did something to stop the abuses of power this POTUS has been perpetrating on the American people. I am sure that the whole point of this lawsuit by Boehner is for political reasons, but it also happens to be in the best interest of the nation for a change. Obama has been abusing his power time and time again by taking major issues and creating laws while circumventing Congress using his Executive Order powers.

Hopefully we can all agree that this needs to be stopped or at least limited not just for the current President, but for future Presidents as well.

The power has been added and abused for many terms now not just the present one. Do not be divided by petty politics with the

TWO PARTIES ONE AGENDA...

Most American are moderates near the center of the bread and circus and need a party that stands up for them!

I'm afraid this is just more BS. The Republicans are making a little noise, in the wake of the House Majority Leader getting fired in the primary, that they are going to do the things the people they are supposed to represent want. It's just a smoke screen that will go away after the mid-terms. It will be back to business as usual, let O get away with whatever he wants.

It will be interesting to see the specifics of the case. But I tend to think this is a dog and pony show.

I posted this in the other thread, but it was closed...

I find this quote from Boehner quite revealing:

"This is about defending the institution in which we serve. If you look back over the past 235 years of our history there's been movement between the inherent powers of the executive branch vs the inherent powers of the legislative branch and what we've seen clearly over the past 5 years is an effort to erode the power of the legislative branch," the Speaker said in response to a question from CNN.

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...

It seems to me that the inherent powers that have been ceded to the legislative branch over the past 235 years are powers that Boehner somehow believes are constitutional powers legally removed from the executive branch and given to the legislative branch. Except there is one little problem...there are no constitutional amendments doing so. The way I see it is that Obama is within his constitutional right to reclaim any constitutional powers that previous administrations have ceded to congress. If congress does not like it, then amend the constitution.

I feel the same as you on this issue. It may not come to much, but it makes a statement loud and clear, that unlawful actions will not go unnoticed.

I'm just kinda shocked that Boehner found part of his missing spine. It also tells me, that Obama's image is so tarnished now, that people are beginning to listen to the uproar from their constituents, and know they damn well better do something to appease them. Or, they will be sitting in an empty campaign office in November, wondering how they lost.

I believe he is on right track as «NOT NOTIFYING” the corrupt congress “infested by the AIPAC lobby”... When he started his campaign, his slogan was (CHANGE), now.. Change is here…!

Can you see it..? Or just want to stand against..?

Good for him and May GOD protect him from any harm…

I womder if that will be before or after their next round of golf?

President Obama calls Boehner and Biden his 'favorite golf partners'

Obama hailed Boehner and Vice President Biden as "two of my favorite golf partners," while conceding that "in each instance, they have to give me strokes."

Why, because this president hasnt abused his power? or boehner is a tw*t?

One is true, the other is as well.

I will assume you meant boehner, at which point I couldnt agree more.

He is a worhtless POS, I scraped dog poo from my shoe yesterday that I thought was more valuable than his entire political career.

I find his career to be worth as much as gold compared to a single thing obama has ever done.

So because his campaign was about "change" he can break the law and rule by fiat?

Seriously?

He can keep the change, I want to keep my liberties.

Obama is the worst kind of dictator, he honestly believes hurting the people "for their own good" is actually for their own good.

He is a worthless POS, so are his entire cabinet of felons, they all deserve at least jail time, pending their trial for the gallows.

Why isn't this about impeachment? If the POTUS has violated the law and ignored the law, then he's broken his oath and needs to be forcibly removed from office. Unfortunately, Boehner and the establishment reps on both sides of the aisle don't want this to happen because their benefactors don't want it to happen... so instead we're stuck with this goddamned attention whoring farce.

Good for Boehner!

But, we might as well file this under Political Theatre 101.

It's an election year.

So;
Unemployment
Immigration
Homelessness
Foreign Policy
Economy
Environment

All becomes important.

If Boehner wanted to impress me, he'd have done this years ago. When it mattered.

This?

*meh*

(Just my humble opinion)

Basically this ^^ If there is irrefutable evidence that Obama violated anything, then impeach rather than sue. There's no illegal meat on Boehner's bone here, and he knows it ( . . . wow, that reads worse than I though it did) He's essentially wasting time for a whine-fest.

Obama will never be impeached.

Politics is all perception. And for the Congress to enact Impeachment precedings against the 1st black president, would make all of American politics look bad. Obama could sacrifice baby kittens in the Oval Office while worshipping Satan, and it'd never happen.

Impeachment is off the table because it would hurt future Republican elections. They are scared to "Impeach" the first black POTUS. "Everyone will call me racist" Boo Hoo. So they are doing things this way. At least someone is doing something. Obama thinks he can wake up and read things off his teleprompter and it suddenly become irrefutable law.

Maybe because they have nothing solid to impeach him on?

The right can complain about Obama's policies all they want, but if they had something beyond opinion, they would have impeached him long ago.

Impeachment is tough.

The House can Impeach on a simple majority vote.

But a Senate "conviction" requires a minimum 67 "Aye" vote.

Only then can "He" be removed.

6sixty-7seven will send him to Heaven.

Controlled opposition that is all we have today. It is all lies for the braincell challenged. The people inside the US have lost hope apathy is what rules most peoples day to day lives.

We lost and the power continues to flow towards the path of least resistance. I sure hope our collectives chains are not that heavy. They seem to keep piling up year after year.
