ISIS...creating a CRISIS.

Look, we knew Iraq would fall into the hands of rouge peoples before we even went in -- so why on God's green Earth would we leave weapons and gear -- ESPECIALLY chemical weapons behind?

Seems to me "someone" wanted them to be there when the SHTF, and be taken over by rebel factions. It really is the only logical answer.

It saddens me that most of the people in the US will go along with whatever they're told. I can't believe "they" (whoever 'they' are) keep getting away with the same old song and dance routine. I can't figure out how people I know can be so blind.

The term "Redskin" for a team is out, but I see you trying to slip in the alternative "Rouge Peoples" into your post.
Very sneaky indeed.

of course there was chemical weapons in Iraq and there very well may be more of them laying around. Consider that even in camp fallujah they had a destroyed gas chamber that turned into USMC berthing for a time, kind of eerie looking at a half destroyed building with paintings of arabs in chem suits. Point here is that even in trace amounts they used to use live agents in that chamber for training purposes. Outside of that (my spelling my be off here) on the north western side outside camp fallujah heading north from msr michegan there was a string of villages at the designated Shiahabi villages 1, 2, and 3. In this location you would find stock piles of russian style gas masks, suits, and canisters. A bit farther on down near the red crescent hospital you would find UXO in the form of unexploded but dropped Iraqi and American bombs and rockets with god knows what in the Iraqi weaponry. Traces of chemical weaponry are found all over the country.

Probably there were chemical weapons (not an excuse for war). And probably they were the ones that the US government sold to Iraq, so therefor they needed to destroy or hide them once they actually got into Iraq. I don't play the left / right game any more.

a reply to: andy1972 It really is heartless to treat those pussies in such a manner.

Seriously though, this entire ISIS dealy...I thing TPTB realized that folks have grown immune to the Al-CIA-da faction so now all of a sudden this ISIS boogeyman pops up. They want more war so bad...they want us involved in Syria, Iran, maybe even the Ukraine and more. They want it so much, this ISIS may have come to the fore so as another nine eleven scenario can take place and stir the American people into a fever pitch relevant to more wars that "they" want.

I hate to think it but yet strongly suspect there may be major trouble ahead via some kind of horror such as what happened back in 2001.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought no weapons of mass destruction were found?

Correct. A modern viable working cache of WMD were not found, but old legacy WMD was found. Right up until just before the invasion in 2003 the UN teams were still finding and destroying these old legacy WMD. After the invasion the Iraq Survey Group were still finding these old legacy WMD. I believe the final tally was some 500 munitions after years of search. Even the Iraq Survey Group assess these found WMD as not being a 'smoking gun' and were left overs from Iraq's old legacy WMD. These munitions were found in an unstable state with the cases and shells in a degraded state. Most of the Iraq WMD was destroyed in the 1990s by the UN teams but the problem was the poor accounting by the Iraqi's of this large stockpile. Also in the case of Al Muthanna, the complex claimed to be in the hands of ISIS, it had been bombed in 1991 and some of the bunkers and their chemical weapons were sealed as it was deemed too dangerous to remove them.

In regards to Al Muthanna see following link

www.globalsecurity.org...

Also see following link that contains an assessment of the WMD at Muthanna that have been there since the UN teams made their inspections in the 1990s

cns.miis.edu...

Destroying the Chemical Weapons at Muthanna

On February 12, 2009, Iraq acceded to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), a multilateral treaty banning the development, production, stockpiling, transfer, and use of chemical weapons.[8] (To date, 188 countries have signed and ratified the CWC.) After joining the Convention, Iraq was obligated to declare within 30 days any legacy stocks of chemical weapons it had inherited from the Saddam Hussein regime. On March 12, 2009, Iraq declared Bunkers 13 and 41 at Muthanna containing filled and unfilled chemical munitions and precursors, as well as five former chemical weapons production facilities, to the international body overseeing CWC implementation—the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, the Netherlands.[9]

Because of the hazardous conditions in Bunker 13, UNSCOM inspectors were unable to make an accurate inventory of its contents before sealing the entrances in 1994. As a result, no record exists of the exact number or status of the sarin-filled rockets remaining in the bunker. According to the UNMOVIC final report in 2007, the rockets "may be both filled and unfilled, armed or unarmed, in good condition or deteriorated."[10] In the worst-case scenario, the munitions could contain as much as 15,000 liters of sarin. Although it is likely that the nerve agent has degraded substantially after nearly two decades of storage under suboptimal conditions, UNMOVIC cautioned that "the levels of degradation of the sarin fill in the rockets cannot be determined without exploring the bunker and taking samples from intact warheads."[11] If the sarin remains highly toxic and many of the rockets are still intact, they could pose a proliferation risk.

Even if the sarin inside the rockets in Bunker 13 has degraded to the point that it has no military value and is little more than hazardous waste, the CWC still requires that all such materials be destroyed. Following Iraq's submission of its initial CW declaration in March 2009, the OPCW Technical Secretariat processed and analyzed the data. In April, Iraq submitted a general plan for destroying the CW materials stored in the two declared bunkers at Muthanna, as well as dismantling its former chemical weapons production facilities.[12]

Funnything is, Republicans played the "boy who cried wolf" way too many times, that even if they had chemical weapons, people still would not care.

Thanks Republicans war mongers!

Keep in mind that the US government continually redefines what constitutes a weapon of mass destruction. Initially, it was nuclear bombs...now days, pressure cookers can be considered WMDs.

In response to the OP, I'm not so sure I believe this report. The US knew where Saddam's chemical weapons plant was located. I simply find it impossible to believe that the US would not have destroyed the plant and all of the chemicals within it before exiting from Iraq. After all, that was their initial mission, right? You know, before the stated goal of the war was changed to one of "liberation" so the US could attempt to save face.

The ISIL very well may have chemical weapons; however, if they do, then they got them from Syria, where they have allegedly been using them for a over a year.

Let me get this straight... After a decade of occupation knowing rebels would take the country back over, we left saddam's stockpile of chemical weapons un-touched knowing some terrorists could get their hands on them. All so we could have another reason to go back into Iraq or start another problem somewhere else...maybe they will take them back to Syria and then Israel will have justification to invade Syria.

Or if not we just accidently left them there because idiots are running this country. It's time to get rid of congress and every famous political family and put someone in there that actually has strategical intelligence along with everything else you can think of. Three men will always be smarter than 1. To let one man decide the fate of an entire country is ludacris, that's why we have congress but seems like they are about as smart as you can throw them.

If there are some old, unstable weapons left then working with them might be fatal. Good luck rebels.

I believe it is more sensational propaganda but doing a half A job of clean up of the 'Great Threat' seems about right.

You have got to be kidding me. Still blaming Republicans for wars that the Dems have their hands in as well.

That party line you are towing, is pretty frayed and old.

Oh come on, they've had 13 years to smuggle those things in there. Not to mention, since WE (America) invaded, we have pretty much owned the place ever since....we could have walked in there with them on our shoulders, so long as the media wasn't told. That is to say, the alternative media. The MSM is controlled already and will say what they're told. Bush did lie and so does Obama. They all lie, even when the truth sounds better.

hillary and obama failed to challenge the SOFA. they used it as an excuse to pull out.

Yeah, how irresponsible of Obama to fail to renegotiate the withdrawal deal SIGNED BY BUSH!

There's plenty of blame to go around here. Hilary signed off on this war, Obama has been far more of a hawk than what he appeared when running.

However, the Obama administration DID try to renegotiate the SOFA. The got shot down by Maliki who refused to grant US troops immunity from Iraqi civilian courts which was a deal breaker. The Iraqi people overwhelmingly didn't want us to stay and we were supposedly there to establish a democracy, right?

That the arrogant neocons responsible for this mess in the first place are now blaming Obama for not renegotiating the deal they signed off on would be hilarious if it wasn't so infuriating.

Yup sounds like Obama is trying out the bush doctrine.......lie then funnel billions into a war you can have your company get the contracts for!

He could have least tried something new. Like they are killing Kittens or something.

Using the WMD excuse just insults our intelligence.

Far be it from them to insult our intelligence lol. That's all they ever do. There's not really much more to say on this but we can't use the (second line) statement to cover the second line here, so I have to at the very least, contributed to this conversation. I could be one of those guys that ramble on an on about nothing, however that just wouldn't be irrational, but I digress. Anyway, they think we are 100% dumber every 10 years or so, which makes about as much sense as a football bat. So, maybe THEY are dumber every 10 years or so for believing this.
