i read the article, not the thread. but you are right, i responded prematurely. there were several details i should have noted before posting anything. has the missing man and dog been located then?

Yes the dog was found (alive) several days before Herdman was found dead.

The circumstances were bizarre and not just my word. But sixty eight pages
of testimony in this thread chronicle the weirdness from early in the search
effort. To finding Mike 1250 up from the campsite in a place where rescue
personel had searched and passed by many times previously. There is
no rational explanation you can think of that will make sense because they're
all here in this thread already.

You know In the end. The press mentioned that his remains were mummified as the coroner
explained. And from what I could gather it was much the same as dyatlovs victims.

Tzar...yes this was an odd one for sure....I know this is a big thread, we had no idea at the start that this would have so many odd twists and turns you came into this thread so long after the story happened, a quick google of the mans name a few quick newspaper articles would give you a quick gist of the story and that he was found dead....

the dog was spotted but they couldn't catch him at first...took several days to get him...if dogs could talk what would be the story he would tell us

Maybe Devil1986 was on the right track. Could Herdman have been involved in a gay relationship and things went awry? Or maybe the combo of ecstasy and alcohol caused a psychotic action? Still curious about this case and why so much secrecy from the authorities. The lack of info early on and the hush hush attitude made this a conspiracy immediately. All the facts have and strands of info here and there have certainly made this a case of curiosity not seen in a long time. Great thread and thanks all for the updates.

I'm pretty sure the same levels of alcohol and drugs can be found in
all corpses that aren't autopsied immediately. And how would that explain
the case being sealed by the Ventura county Sheriffs department? And the
fact he was found in a spot that was passed over many times? Just for
starters.

relay. And that is the most obvious glaring fact of the matter.

I use to live about 3 hours from where this happened and once I went out to the sandspit which was about 15 mins from the closest parking and after the hike you had to climb over a big sand dune to get to the beach... well it was about 5AM just got off from work and decided to go fish the tide pools for awhile before heading home... well once I made it over the sand dune about 50 feet down the beach I see a pentagram laid out in the sand with candles with 5 people in bright red robes standing over it and I just booked it I had knives but I dident want to find out what they were doing since no one even knew I had went out their. Another one that I wasent there for happened about 5 mins down the road from my sand spit experience. He was hiking around 1 AM behind his house and came across what could be the same group not too sure but they were standing around a pentagram in all white robes with latex horse masks on. And that's just the tip of the weird things that go on at that sandspit I once had a mountain lion run right past me and my friend on the beach and it dident even bother looking in our direction not to mention the orbs of light that zip up and down out of the ocean and Then zip off across the sky. Personally I think vandemberg afb has some weird dealings going on right up the coast but as far as the firefighter I fear someone may have taken him theirs ALOT of weird stuff I experienced in nature growing up in central coast of Cali...

Wow, i actually grew up in Lompoc and Santa Barbara area and I have never heard of these strange happenings around VAFB. I still have buddies there I should ask them about this. The only thing I have seen around the base are strange lights that zig zag in the sky and sometimes they change colors but mostly they were blue. I have seen these as a kid and a friend of mine has seen one recently as well traveling on the 1 north heading towards Lompoc.

I saw a commercial along time ago about a college girl who was very smart,cute and had alot going on for her.She went to a party and took some ecstasy and it killed her.It was her first time trying ecstasy,go figure.Point is this may the same case with herdman his first time trying the drug and it killed him plus people can OD on it if they don't have water.Being out in the wilderness like that,lost,noone else around to cope him.Or maybe someone knew he was drugged up and they killed him while being high? Any reports on head trauma or body injuries? Biggest Q of them all,why are the records sealed? Maybe it's a unexplained paranormal investigation they can't explain away.This isn't my first time hearing about rescuers passing by people over and over the same spot where the victim laid only to be found later on.Definitely weird mixed with paranormal or maybe they can't see the forest for the trees,who knows.

I don't know why they didn't use cadaver dogs to begin with,or use psychics.
