Has a `doom prediction` thread starter EVER apologised?

Youve seen it all before, `i have a strange feeling about the 10th september`
or `somewhere in the march 9th - march 15th window watch out`
or `denver airport end of january early febuary`.

Whilst i have just randomly quoted those dates i am sure it is familar to you all.

For years now the constant pounding of dates and these `i have a bad feeling we may be looking at some major EQ between this and this date` blah blah blah, and guess what every single time it doesnt happen.

However where is the thread-starter ever to finish off the thread on the day, or a few days after the period and say `geez, i guess i was wrong sorry about that i will not just randomly make a doom thread because of a gut feeling i have`, but no they are nowhere to be seenm they just hide away and a few months later make a new one.

It is so annoying, look there is NO WAY any of you can predict anything, heck, in 5 minutes from now, a nuclear bomb could wipe us all out, you just do not know. If disaster will strike, it will strike, and that is that.

But these stupid, ridiculous threads, which have now evolved from specific dates to a ` end of march/ early feburary` (example ) time frame, which kind of gives the OP a 2/3 week gap to widen the odds of something happening, is just stupid.

First of all your thread should be in rants because that's what it is.
Second no one is twisting your arm to read any prediction thread. You start out innocently asking a question about if folks apologize for making a bad prediction to screaming about how invalid psychic predictions are.
Third most of the predictions are made outside ATS and the poster is just linking the story which means they have nothing to apologize for.
Decide what your thread is going to be about. Did any ever apologize or psychics lie and suck the big one. a reply to: uninfluenced

There is no need for anyone to apologize for making a prediction or for posting 'doom porn'. That's what the threads are for. And if you don't like reading them ... and they get you upset ... then don't read them.

Most of ATS knows that nothing is going to happen. It's not a big deal. Just part of the ATS landscape.

If ATS didn't have doom threads, then it would lose a lot of it's appeal. It'll just turn into another media hub posting the same stories covered about 10 billion times over.

Doom porn threads open up an interesting avenue of discussion, as well as giving you an alternate view on reality, which in itself is helpful to think outside of the box. Personally, I don't think they should apologize, they should continue to do whatever they want.

You aren't obligated to believe that Grey Aliens and Robots from Alpha Centari are coming from deep space nine to eat your brain on June 2, 2014 at 11:37pm. But, it's still fun to discuss it even if it doesn't happen. Then there is always the possibility that something DOES happen... eventually. A person can't be right all the time.

Funny enough since you yourself want to take the thread off topic. My one contribution thread on this subject matter was titled failed psychics by the truck load.
And I'm not a he. Guess you're no psychic either.
I guess you're not going to narrow down the subject matter at all and instead are looking to expand it to making predictory statements like the one I'm responding to.

PS I see the threads been moved.

The march and September times are actually times that the earth is crossing the solar plane of the sun. Not a bad call.

Now why would a person have to apologize? After all, if the prediction does not come true, people should be thankful it did not come true. Some day someone is going to predict something big and it will come true, now would it be better that it never happened or the person was right.

Thank god every time any bad prediction doesn't happen.

Seriously true. Doom Porn is a part of the ATS Landscape. It's fun to go Doom Porn fishing ... find some good dated doom porn ... sit back and go on 'failure watch'. From a psychological point of view, it probably makes us all feel good that we were smart enough not to buy into it.

A prediction is just that. A prediction. Not anything stated as 100% true to occur. It is up to the reader how to take the info. And no I have not made any prediction threads.

I don't think anyone should apologize for anything. Its their thread, posted in the proper forum (unlike some threads) and what do we have the d&p forum for if not to well... you know, post threads about dreams and predictions?

I don't mind the doom porn too much as it breaks up the monotony of out-there conspiracies and fake UFO photos.

I do get a little upset that the Doom posters never finish their posts but oh well. It does unnerve me that there are quite a few folks on this board that really get into this stuff and believe it. I actually worry about them and hope they don't do anything too crazy.

That said, there's no need, in my opinion, for anyone to apologize. IF their prediction did come true and they didn't post it, they'd probably feel guilty about not warning people.
