I always reply to questions regarding my religion with " I have my religious beliefs and they are my personal choice which I prefer not to share", or something similar.

It would be nice if everyone practiced the same, it would make the world a much simpler place to live in.

Religion is a personal choice and is no one else's business but your own.

Am I the only one that sense insecurity in your belief (you said it yourself, you are not very religious person) and probably have worries about your kid getting to know there is a whole (the same) world without religion as well?

If not troll, I would suggest you learn something from them...

(As other suggested - can't fix what is not broken, but in this case, you might help yourself)

For the love of god leave them the hell alone!

This is why I hate neighbors and people in general.

I don't want the vacuum you're selling, I don't care about the petition you're circulating, I don't want your cookies or to hear about your candidate and I sure as hell don't want your religion.

I'll tell you #ers the same thing I tell sales people in stores, if I want you I'll come find you. Otherwise stay the # away from me!

Amazing you'd go out of your way to damage an otherwise perfectly cordial neighbor relationship. Are you that hurt up for some drama that you'd manufacture it? Keep it to yourself.

Ohhhh you cross the line. What the hell do you mean you don't want their cookies?

I am absolutely and completely outraged (and I was wondering if you might send them my way)

OP, perhaps I'm mistaken but - it seems that truly you are more concerned that your own daughter will be 'corrupted' by theirs.
Amirite?
Hmmmm.
Think about it.

Also - what sort of teachers are they? If your daughter makes friends with her, cool. Please advise your daughter NOT TO TRY to convert/save or otherwise instill your beliefs onto their family. Good grief, let them alone, and do NOT send your daughter out as your 'spiritual missionary'. Ugh.

Last - tell them that there's a cool website called ATS where they might find some really interesting people and good conversations - obviously they'd be more than welcome into our cyber-neighborhood here.

(Final note - I do hope you are just being facetious. Or maybe you meant to post this is in an appropriately religious proselytizing/apologetics how-to forum instead??)

Anything you say can and will be used against you in this life, so it's best to be quiet.

You see, if your neighbors would have had the sense to realize this, this would be a non issue yes?.

I do find it rather odd that someone who is not particularly religious would feel the religious claims and practices of others to be an issue at all really.

Odd....

The only way to help "others" is not by changing their minds and believes, but by learning to be tolerant.

In other words, mind you own business in order to be a better person.

This cannot be a serious post. In fact the way it's crafted and presented leads to no other conclusion than troll.

If by chance it is serious, please do the world a favor and do what so many others have already suggested. It is absolutely none of your business, so mind your own and leave them alone about it. Entirely. Don't even ask a question of them about it because we all know how that would go.

In general i don´t think very highly about organized religion nor it´s followers,
but after reading the entire thread i have to say;
I like you.

To the OP:
Though it has been already said numerous times,
leave your neighbors to their on devices.
Sooner or later they will learn something, the easy way or the hard way.
Or you will.

It's none of your business ... let them be whatever faith they want. As long as they aren't into human sacrifice or something that hurts/interferes with others ... they can do whatever they want.

Honestly, I look at the hard core fundamentalist religious folks and think the children of atheists might be better off.

That being said, if you want to 'help' people, then be the best example of whatever your faith is and people will be naturally attracted to it. Pounding them over the head with a bible won't do anything except give them a headache.

Nah, just stay as far away from them as possible.

Last time I heard - atheism is contagious... just like SAAR virus.

If your kids play with their, you might risk loosing her religiousness...

This topic from beginning just feel like big troll...

Just let them see how belief in god makes your life happy. I don't think most of the people going to church even understand how belief in god can calm you and make it so others want to be around you. You do not even have to tell someone of your belief, let them see this tranquility in you. They will ask you why your so happy or wonder if you have angelmans syndrome.

This gave me a good chuckle. Fortunately, the comments have more than reflected my personal stance, so there's really nothing left to do but read. Should be fun.

ETA: There is one thing I thought I'd point out. If the OP is truly so concerned that his/her family will be 'infected' from being in such close contact with atheists, one has to wonder at the security of the beliefs they already have. If I were to live next door to, say, Muslims or vegans, I wouldn't just start praying to Allah or abstaining from burgers. If that were the case, nobody would believe in anything because they're too busy getting in their neighbors' beliefs.

Now, back to the comments. *grabs popcorn*

I have some damned hippy acoustic guitar playing budda loving peacenik neighbors.... that I love dearly. They are sort of atheist but with Buddhist tendencies... if that makes any sense. In any case, I "help" them by being a good human being toward them and live as I believe I should.. in my house, on my property and dont demand everyone change for ME just because I live here or have lived here the longest. The funny thing about free will is that the person has to choose what they believe. You can share your beliefs, but be prepared to HEAR their beliefs.. no arguing or trying to do what I call the "my God is bigger than your god and my God can kick your gods ass " game. Seek commonalities with your neighbors and not points to fight over.. and DONT attempt to prove them wrong concerning their beliefs or lack of.

If you have raised your daughter properly, you shouldnt worry about her abandoning her beliefs... if she actually believes.

Atheists are just as religious as the Pope

Sorry my furry friend. Keep in mind that those that adopt immersive memes lose their objectivity and their connection with reality.

I understand why it must seem like everyone MUST be immersed in a meme in order to make sense of this World.
I assure you and all others that added stars, this is not the truth. Atheism is the lack of belief in God(s).

Ironically, Athiests and Christians share much in common. You could sip wine and discuss the (literally) hundreds of religions on Earth that are a complete waste of time. There is only one topic to avoid --your preferred religion.
