A while back, I made a thread here challenging all who disbelieve in God as portrayed in the Old Testament, and it went like this: If you can show me one verse, ONE SINGLE verse, where God commands me, today, an American Christian living in A.D. 2014, to kill, rape, beat, or hurt my fellow man, in any way, shape, or form, I will publicly renounce my faith.

I refuse to follow a God who condones killing, raping, pillaging, etc.

I cannot judge God based on His past actions, if 3,500 years ago, there was a tribe of people worshiping demons, sacrificing children, having bizarre religious sex orgies and slitting their wrists in worshiping their "god", and God sent a group of Israelite's to annihilate them, I cannot judge God on that. God decides who lives, when they live, and where they live. If in the past God decided a group of humanity was deemed evil in His eyes, and commanded that they be destroyed, I cannot stop His Hand anymore than I could today if He deemed I had to pay the price for my sins (death).

I also am not speaking of laws that pertained to ancient Israel. God was establishing a people for Himself, a people that the Messiah could enter history through, so they had to have strict laws. God could not allow His Flock to become tainted with impure practices, so the Old Laws had to be what we today may deem "cruel".

So there you have it. Show me where God says that I should kill, rape, pillage or plunder today, and I'll admit I cannot follow Him,and publicly renounce my faith.

The God I follow, the God of the Old Covenant, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Jesus Father, the Essence of Jesus Himself, being the Second Person of the Divine Trinity, is a God of Love and Mercy and Compassion, long suffering and of great goodness.

Exodus 34 “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Ezekiel 18:23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?

Psalm 78:38 But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity,
And did not destroy them.
Yes, many a time He turned His anger away,
And did not stir up all His wrath;
39 For He remembered that they were but flesh,
A breath that passes away and does not come again.

Joel 2:13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.

Numbers 14: 18 ‘The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression

Bless the LORD, O my soul! Bless His Holy Name!

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

the Trinity, One in Essence and Undivided!

Alleluiah,

amen.

Kill Brats
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up baldhead," they shouted, "go up baldhead!" The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB)

God Kills the Curious
And he smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Jehovah, he smote of the people seventy men, `and' fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a great slaughter. And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and to whom shall he go up from us? (1Samuel 6:19-20 ASV)

Killed by a Lion
Meanwhile, the LORD instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man, "Strike me!" But the man refused to strike the prophet. Then the prophet told him, "Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me." And sure enough, when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him. (1 Kings 20:35-36 NLT)

Killing the Good Samaritan
The ark of God was placed on a new cart and taken away from the house of Abinadab on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab guided the cart, with Ahio walking before it, while David and all the Israelites made merry before the Lord with all their strength, with singing and with citharas, harps, tambourines, sistrums, and cymbals.
When they came to the threshing floor of Nodan, Uzzah reached out his hand to the ark of God to steady it, for the oxen were making it tip. But the Lord was angry with Uzzah; God struck him on that spot, and he died there before God. (2 Samuel 6:3-7 NAB)

3) Murdering Children

Kill Sons of Sinners
Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)

God Will Kill Children
The glory of Israel will fly away like a bird, for your children will die at birth or perish in the womb or never even be conceived. Even if your children do survive to grow up, I will take them from you. It will be a terrible day when I turn away and leave you alone. I have watched Israel become as beautiful and pleasant as Tyre. But now Israel will bring out her children to be slaughtered." O LORD, what should I request for your people? I will ask for wombs that don't give birth and breasts that give no milk. The LORD says, "All their wickedness began at Gilgal; there I began to hate them. I will drive them from my land because of their evil actions. I will love them no more because all their leaders are rebels. The people of Israel are stricken. Their roots are dried up; they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children." (Hosea 9:11-16 NLT)

Kill Men, Women, and Children
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told." (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

God Kills all the First Born of Egypt
And at midnight the LORD killed all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn son of the captive in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed. Pharaoh and his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died. (Exodus 12:29-30 NLT)

Kill Old Men and Young Women
"You are my battle-ax and sword," says the LORD. "With you I will shatter nations and destroy many kingdoms. With you I will shatter armies, destroying the horse and rider, the chariot and charioteer. With you I will shatter men and women, old people and children, young men and maidens. With you I will shatter shepherds and flocks, farmers and oxen, captains and rulers. "As you watch, I will repay Babylon and the people of Babylonia for all the wrong they have done to my people in Jerusalem," says the LORD. "Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth! I am your enemy," says the LORD. "I will raise my fist against you, to roll you down from the heights. When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of rubble. You will be desolate forever. Even your stones will never again be used for building. You will be completely wiped out," says the LORD. (Jeremiah 51:20-26)
(Note that after God promises the Israelites a victory against Babylon, the Israelites actually get their butts kicked by them in the next chapter. So much for an all-knowing and all-powerful God.)

God Will Kill the Children of Sinners
If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins. I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted. (Leviticus 26:21-22 NLT)

More Rape and Baby Killing
Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

The earth also was corrupt before God

"and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth."

"And the Lord said, I will destroy man"
"and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth."

"or we will destroy this place"

"for the Lord will destroy this city"

yes lots of destroy stuff, not only man,,but cities, as well,,

but,

"Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing;
Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil?
to save life, or to destroy it?

or any day?

what he said.

2000 years ago,, u would think everyone would understand that very simple point.

Just because I'm so sick of seeing this evilbible garbage, I'll give a quick explanation for each verse you posted here AfterInfinity.

"Kill brats" - the "children" here were jeering Gods prophet, and they weren't really children, the hebrew word actually designates young adults. and basically, they were threatening Elishas life. They had known story of Elijah "going up" and by telling Elisha to go "go on up" they were basically saying We're going to kill you. A group of young adults was threatening a prophets life, so the prophet called for Gods judgement. God saw it fit for their lives to end. People are killed by wild life every day.

"God kills the curious" - These are men who plundered the Israelites. They stole their holy relics, and took the Ark of the Covenant. This is what happens when you plunder and steal - you pay the price of your sin, which is death.

"Killed by a Lion" - God is proving He is sovereign over creation - if you disobey Him and wilfully sin against Him, He is illustrating the just punishment is death. The wages of sin is death. Why do the foolish and vain evilbible authors not realize this?

Killing the good samaritan - Again, we see just how HOLY God really is. Do you not see when God commands something, He means it? Can you imagine if you saw the REAL Ark of the Covenant? Would you not bow before it? If it helps to make you understand though, we as humans never fully see it from Gods angle - even King David was upset with God over this, as illustrated in the next verses And David became angry because of the Lord’s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day.

9 David was afraid of the Lord that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”.

Again though, the ultimate point of the story is this: God is HOLY, and to sin against Him or disobey in ANYWAY is deserving of DEATH.

the last 4 passsages - these are all prophetic passages, none of this is literal, to explain these I would need to write about 3 paragraphs per example, and I simply don't have the ambition to do that much work right now.

I've already done way more than I should, considering the entire bogus evilbible website has been refuted for a long time now.

And as far as my challenge goes, none of these pertained to me today, so my challenge still stands.

Will someone PLEASE show me ONE SINGLE VERSE where God commands me to kill people, to rape or plunder? Please! I keep seeing posts of how evil God is, but yet I'm NOT seeing it. All I see is people claiming God is evil for making judgements, how come you all don't go protest the U.S. Supreme Court? They constantly execute people and they don't know 1% of whats on a persons heart. Here we're speaking of GOD, the one who knows EVERYTHING we've EVER DONE.

You did not say "Show me verses where God says that I should kill or rape so I can come up with excuses why his orders were just and fair." But I suppose it was unrealistic of me to expect anything else. Lavishing praise on him like that tells me exactly where you want to go with this charade.

You claim Jesus is evil. You say Jesus is evil because He condones rape and murder. All I see is Jesus handing down judgments. Isn't that what Jesus said He came into the world for?

Romans 2

New King James Version (NKJV)
God’s Righteous Judgment

2 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.

12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Sounds like you really want an excuse to renounce your faith! Your God probably isn't the nicest deity in town but lets face it, none of them really are. Christianity isn't the best religion or the only true religion for that matter, whatever "true" is.

No, because it's a waste of my time. You asked, I answered, you are now arguing that my answers are invalid because those people deserved such punishments. Clearly, mouthy kids deserve to be ripped apart by bears. It's a shame God doesn't do that to kids today, right? Oh, and all those first borns who couldn't even talk, let alone sin. But clearly, the obstinance of a pharaoh justifies the death of a thousand infants.

As I said before, this is a fixed game. And I have no interest in playing a game designed to make me lose no matter how good I am at anything except losing. What's the point?

John 14:15

15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Jesus is giving an eternal commandment, commanding all men of all time that if they love Him, to follow His Commandments. What are His Commandments? To love the LORD your God with all your being, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Isn't that effectively what all the churches are saying? If it was good enough 2,000 years ago, it's good enough now. But apparently, the misdeeds of the past don't apply even if the scriptures which motivated them do.
