OK...How's this for a Romantic short story starter page? I call it, "My one and only"
She looked at her man as he took his plate from the kitchen and headed to the table and watched with never ending amazed amusement as he tripped over
the dog and sent his dinner flying across the room. “He’ll never learn.” she thought as she watched him get back up, cussing out the dog, (who
only opened one eye and went back to sleep. He was used to this after all) and started to clean up the mess, which in the process he managed to knock
over the flowers he had brought her earlier in the day thereby making what wasn't soggy…soggy.
He sat back down and looked forlornly at the mess. “God I suck!” and put his head in his hands. She went to his side and put a towel in his
hands.
“Here, we’ll clean this up together. C’mon dog! Dinner time! Nothing to fret about, I know you’re tired.”
He looked at her with a small smile on his face feeling a bit ashamed. “How have I ever been blessed with a woman like you? I don’t know why you
put up with me.”
She put a hand on the side of his face. “Well, it’s the sex dear…you’re a monster.”, she giggled when she saw the shocked look. “I’m not
kidding, but to be honest, we complement each other and not in just more ways than one.”
“I’m a clumsy oaf!” He got on his knees and started scraping his meal into a pile where the dog eagerly lapped it up. “I have the unnatural
ability to screw things up. But I do compliment you as often as I can. You are a good wife and my best friend.”
She giggled again. “Complement, not compliment. Do not sell yourself short. You are hard working, faithful, funny and above all, always honest, even
if it means you may hurt some ones feelings. Which are often mine by the way? But I do wish you had a few more inches on you.”
He grabbed his crotch looking offended. “Hey!”
She busted out laughing. “Not down there you idiot! Taller! But I love you all the same.” She took her hand off his face and gently cuffed him on
the back of the head.
They looked into each other eyes and forgot about the mess on the floor. Both started to lean into each other in anticipation of meeting lips when
right before they contacted the dog started to lick both of their faces ruining the moment. They both started laughing as the dog had that look of,
“Thanks Mama, Dada! Is there anymore!?” with his tail thumping the floor.
