Detroit's a horrible place. I'm just surprised there were that many people living in the area to take up the attack, that place pretty much is a ghost town nowadays.

Maybe in your area but I know good and well from having dealt with mobs in various cities that most do not run like cowards as you are implying.

Yes, I was in the military for a few terms and yes I have seen combat and prior to I had plenty experience with quite a few mobs. Of course people will run as bravery or boldness does not mean you stand there while getting shot at. Your original post came across like your little clips is going to be the final word and yes, that may be true for some criminals young or old but the vast majority of criminals like the ones on this video dont give a f*ck. And like I said, this is in MY experience in the environments that EYE have been in.

And do not worry about my personal stories as you are not that important. Take care fella.

So, you have some experience with the military, were you a combat soldier or support? I have seen real combat, actually been shot at personally, shot back, dived for cover, have you? Regardless, I completely disagree with your assessment. Review videos of any scenarios where shooting is taking place and the reaction is almost always the same, people scatter. I also have personal experience of people much tougher and much braver than American "urban youths", scattering when gunfire kicked off.

See, your premise is flawed. The kind of people with the guts and fortitude to advance on someone shooting at them are either truly committed to a cause or soldiers that have to advance in order to survive. The only other option is that they are suicidal. These mobs are none of the above, they are predators, preying on weak victims. You have this inexplicable idea that somehow these mobs of "youths" are much more structured and principled than they are.

Brave people aren't out attacking 13 year old girls and old men. I question your claims of military combat experience, my instinct tells me you've never been in combat. You would be much wiser had you been.

If you didnt care you would had not responded in the first place. The whole thing of "race" is actually wrong it should be ETHNICITY. Scientist are slowly changing how they classify diffrent ethnic peoples. You cant stop over a thousand years of prejudice in a few generations. But you have to start somewhere. Some of you are turning it into a race issue, when it isn't. Regardless of ethnicity, hitting a black kid in the hood somewhere and doing the right thing by stopping to see if the kid is all right, will get you a severe ass whooping, regardless of skin color. Remembering off hand, there have been several instances of this that happened in Chicago over the years. They beat the crap out of black drivers as well.

Personally, I blame the entire PC system, mostly, for this. Note I say 'mostly' and not entirely. Other factors come into play but that is a discussion for another time.

Have there been any updates on the driver? A medically induced coma is not a good thing.

We se things differently, that much is obvious.

"Home" training will ensure the three boys will grow up to understand respect and other little things (duty, honor, importance of education, value of life).

"Neighborhood" training will serve them throughout their life in any situation they may find themselves in.

There is no longer a Spartan agoge system to train the youth. It's a rough road to be sure. I walked it myself in the late 80's and early 90's when Detroit was the murder capitol of the world.

But it doesn't last forever. Despair and life long habits set in with puberty. The boys will be moved to the suburbs around age 13 -14 and will have gained immeasurable life skills in the process. Skills people raised in the suburbs would never understand. They also gain friendships across all barriers, racial and class which many here cannot claim. Thirdly they will always know that "I have been through worse". That is the number one thing that a person takes from growing up in Detroit. Nothing gets to us, because we have always "been through worse".

Come to the metro area suburbs. They are full of "transplanted" Detroiters. However, they all moved when their children were older. They wanted their children to have a little bit of Detroit in them before they left.

So, continue to say "if I lived in Detroit" or " if I grew up in Detroit". If neither of those two statements are TRUE, than neither of those two statement MATTER.

I agree prison is nothing more then a badge of honor for some. Putting them in a cage isnt harsh enough for some people to learn a lesson. Maybe a little physical pain would straighten them out.

As my post said - home training and neighborhood training.

Supply both and you have a "transplant" remove the home training and all you have is the dregs.

Damned if you do (take-off) damn if you don't (stick around and try to help and almost get killed).

call 9-1-1 and report the accident and drive to the nearest "open" police station. DO NOT stop until you get there. That way you are covered against "hit and run" and you are somewhat safe from "smash and grab".
