Annett's? It's a joke.

Someone else's? It has nothing to do with Annett, his insanity, or "Historic Breaking News: Canada, Vatican and Crown GUILTY of Genocide".

The truth about these hideous crimes against humanity are finally coming to light.

It's been kept secret way too long by so much corruption in the upper echelons.

In the 1990s, thousands of victims sued the churches that ran the schools and the Canadian government. The $1.9-billion settlement in 2007 prompted an apology from Prime Minister Stephen Harper followed by the creation of the commission in 2008.

Well I have never seen what you speak of, but I have seen him before talking about the various child abuses that have been swept under the rug. He's not the only one either! But he's no worse than the ones you hold in high regard! They lock people up for growing a plant for god sake! Lock people in a cage for growing a plant........

Doesn't matter if the "real" courts are corrupt, etc, this guy has been hit with more C&D's by the very people he claims to represent than anyone I've ever seen. Annett is a total whack job, who thinks he can issue arrest warrants for everyone and everything just because "He AM" (He's also very involved in pushing the OPPT/I-UV nonsense up in Canada and wouldn't be surprised if he's working with Heather Tucci)

It's sad though that he slaps a few logos on things and makes a website and people automatically think he's legit..which is the problem.

I watched the video. I am extremely disturbed by the natives who shared their story.

This is totally unacceptable!!

My hat goes off to Rev. Annett for all he has done to help get this story out, and make those SOBs pay!!

I shouldn't have watched this before going to bed. Now I'm too upset to sleep.

I'd like to hang those bast***ds up by their toenails, skin them and then pour alcohol all over them!! Then stick a 1000 watt wire up their butt and watch them fry!!!

There is also evidence that native children in residential schools were used in medical experiments, by which I mean doctors tested out medicines on them not knowing what the effects would be, with often disastrous results. I will look for sources on that if requested.

And of course many many of them suffered sexual abuse at the hands of priests, teachers and church authorities who ran these "schools."

I myself am not native, but I can tell you right now that white friends of mine as well as many other people I know who I otherwise hold in high esteem are openly racist. It used to surprise me, sadly it no longer does though it is painfully disappointing to witness all the same. I have argued and debated the issue with friends or whoever on many occasion, in some cases for hours on end.

The 'Truth and Reconciliation' commission has just recently wrapped up, which is the govt's official way of dealing with the issue of residential schools, acknowledging the wrongs done, etc. and after hearing an interview on CBC radio I searched the particular show up on their website. The comments on that story and others were awful. Comments basically dismissive, common themes being that natives should 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps' and to 'stop complaining'. And these are the comments that get by far the most likes.

Imagine if you will; a foreign peoples invade your country, kidnap your children, take them off to indoctrinate into some different religion while simultaneously making your own religious practice illegal (and people were thrown in jail, it was literally illegal for several years).

Then they rape your kids and attempt to wipe out your language and commit (with a great deal of success mind you) cultural genocide- not to mention almost *literal* genocide (though not intentional perhaps) through the spread of diseases that you have no immunity towards.

What is called the 'Indian Act' is still a law in Canada today, although the term 'Indian' is itself derogatory and prejudice (not to mention erroneous) at least to native people, not those from India obviously. The laws, practices, policies and the particular make up of such that constitutes present day Canadian government as we know it come from these beginnings. Is it any wonder the high numbers of first nations people who live below the poverty line and often struggle with alcoholism, abuse, rampant prejudice at every turn from RCMP, political policy etc.

It is my belief that the effects of such psychologically damaging and traumatic experience reverberate down through the generations as do the racist attitudes that the white colonizers (many of them our ancestors) brought over with them.

I have not read the OP's article so I cannot comment as to whether it is sensationalized or not, but regardless the residential school mess is plenty bad enough as is. Canadians should not be surprised at this, though I suppose many may be ignorant of the extent of the situation and of some of the specifics.

There are native languages that have been lost forever, that will never be spoken again. I may need to double check, but in some cases disease such as small pox wiped out 80% of the aboriginal population.

In terms of did the residential schools practice genocide per se, it sounds like a stretch although who knows; however there are already plenty of deaths to refer to and extreme abuse of every variety imaginable was the norm at these horrific places so really it becomes a moot point to me.

Apologies for length, have a great deal to say on this topic and I believe my opinion to be reasonably well informed (at least for a person who has not been directly effected as many natives in Canada and their families have/are). Children in Canada today should be taught and given this complete picture of Canadian history early in school imo; it would help educate and perhaps alleviate some of the prejudice which seems so pervasive.

I myself don't remember learning much at all in social studies at high school, it was only my post-secondary schooling that I found out the majority of what I know. It may be different now, but to me such a thing should be mandatory across the board in all of our public educational institutions. Of course, considering the history of such institutions (residential schools anyone?) is it any wonder, really.

It's time to become contributing members of society instead of wasting the billions we keep sending the children of your fathers'. First Nations receive a free ride and most of their reserves are in squalor. Why not open the books and show some accountability for these billions or can we already see it put to use in casinos? instead of education and housing on the reserves. The Indian Act may not be 21st century politics, so why not agree to amending it. Oh ya, I forgot, the money might stop flowing.
