The only joke is the two of you arguing politics on a thread about a downed drone.
Here is an idea, screw both of your parties and get back on topic or get a room.

I would think that flying over enemy airspace would require pre-programmed flight path software (insulated from jamming) just in case jamming was attempted.

that does not look like an american drone to me. does someone have the model number and name? methinks it is a misidentification of a Ukrainian drone.
Yeah actually it is an American drone.
I have a picture around here someplace I took of one at the Smithsonian last summer.

They technically have a right to be there under old Ukrainian laws, but the new government emerging no longer follows the old law Putin refuses to acknowledge it though. And if you really think hes all about protecting Russians you are naieve.
Timing
Okay. So we know that the US military isn't saying yes or no if it was one of their drones that went down. If it was one of our drones it would be broadcast just like when we lost the Blackhawk in the Bin Laden raid.
We know Google was instrumental in the coup in Egypt, we also know Google is a huge supporter of Obama.
Are the pieces starting to come together yet? Or are we all going to continue to be naive about what is really going on?

Things are beginning to get a little bit crazy - however, if Russia were to send a drone into, say Iraqi airspace, I have no doubt that the US would do the same thing. The only difference being that Russia is there at the request of Crimea as well as there to protect Russian citizens. They have more right to be there than we do being in Iraq or Afghanistan.
This will not end well for America....
I somewhat agree, but if there was mutual respect, Putin would call Obama and warn him to stop flying recon missions over Crimea... Or else...
Looks like that time has come and go.
This a major move on the proverbial chess board. We are in check...

Excerpted from IBTimes: U.S. defense officials say reports from Russia that an American MQ-5B drone was intercepted over Crimea and made an emergency landing there are false. Voice of Russia reported on Friday that “an American scout-attack drone was intercepted in the Crimean sky” and made an emergency landing after an electronic attack disrupted its computers.
“There is zero truth” to the reports, said a Department of Defense spokesperson reached by phone in Washington.
According to the Russian source, the drone, an MQ-5B Hunter, belonged, judging by its markings, to the 66th US Military Intelligence Brigade, based in Germany.
The drone was at a height of about 4,000 meters or about 13,000 feet, according to Voice of Russia, which said it was in the possession of “self-defense forces.” A call to the brigade’s German headquarters was answered by a serviceman who said the unit had no knowledge of anything of the sort happening. If you really believe it was Ukrainians revolting and not some American hired goons attempting to overthrow yet another government at Russia's doorstep - then it is not really me who is the naïve one.
Edited to add: Are you actually implying that Crimea does not have Russians living there as well as Russian flag waving supporters? Perhaps you need to turn off CNN and MSNBC and do a little digging...edit on 14-3-2014 by tallcool1 because: (no reason given)

The new government wasn't elected, doesn't preside over eastern Ukraine and ousted the elected government by force. By any western logic, the new "government" in western Ukraine is illegitimate. [except when it's not convenient, right?]
