What a jerk. I don't care what any proper "etiquette" is for flags being flown, if I had flags of multiple countries and wanted to string 'em up, I'd do it alphabetically top to bottom because I'm OCD like that. If that blowhard had touched mine, I'd have put him in the hospital for destruction of MY property. And sent him the bill to pay for new ones.

And I and many others like me would put you in the bed next to him. If you were lucky enough to JUST go to the hospital, and not to a more permanent resting place.

Nyiah's flag is flying above a US flag, or had multiple flags of other countries flying, Someone of weak morale constructs decides to cut the non-US ones down and essentially damage his *personal property*, AND Nyiah tried to stop them from damaging his property. The debate is simple...if a person, in the United States, went on to, took, possessed, destroyed, or any other way molested someone else's property, they have broken the law. They are not heroes in any stable brained person's eyes. We have laws and although some of us can't stand the site of a NASCAR flag or Confederate flag...we don't have the right to engage with the inbred hillbillies living next door and take their offensive flag down...just like they can't take down my pink flag with a big triangle in the middle....They can't go into my mailbox and take my NRA magazines and I can't go key their hybrid Prius in their driveway. Well, tough, you Americans and your xenophobia is what this is all about. And you try to talk macho and gun-ho with "what you'd do to someone" who disrespects the American flag by flying one of their own above it. How petulant and petty are you? You boast and brag and shout and scream at the top of your lungs to the entire world how great and fantastic your country is - how rich and powerful and how wonderful your freedoms and liberties are... and then act like complete wankers when those from a less fortunate country naturally want to immigrate, very often illegally. Why are you so shocked?

You Americans think you have "some right" to that land. I'd say no more than Israel do to theirs. They stole it from the Palestinians, you stole it from the Native Americans who were there before you. And they probably took the land from whichever culture was there before them, and so on. We're all immigrants.

The pop at my country - I'm not fussed. Yes, I'm British. And we've had a rather colourful history, to say the least - no one denies that whatsoever. No country is perfect, none are "innocent" of doing wrong.

But I love how you Americans always try to justify your ignorant and skewed views by downplaying your own failings as a country by comparing them to another who "did it worse". And that, somehow, makes them seem "not as a bad".

That being said, the vet should have done the right thing by informing the owner of said bar that he was incorrect. If owner told him to eff off, or something to that extent, then I'd be pissed too. Would I have taken his flag? No, I would have corrected his error. Nor would I have left his native flag in the street, that's just as disrespectful.
Personally, I think the guy was showing off for the camera.

Again, I stand by my comment: fly it right, or don't fly it at all.

I believe the point you miss in my response is there is nothing to be done about it. (That doesn't mean I see what your saying is wrong in the slightest).

As there is no workable solution to those original acts-at least none that don't create more problems/upset/war etc. than any "solution" solves.

The animal analogy is, of course, ridiculous. Yet there are those that have proposed it-just another level that is somewhat empowered by the unceasing "we done bad" rhetoric- that is virtually always directed at the U.S..

So I will be more blunt. Your post is irrelevant to the issue of the thread.

Most Americans don't know how to fly our flag - football tailgate a lot in the fall (pro & college) & probably 75% to 80% of the tailgate flags are wrong.

They always have the team flag on top with the American flag underneath - they have no clue it's wrong...yeesh

This. Hell, Seattle was rampant with improper flag displays all over the freaking place during the whole 12th man madness. So if over a million rabid sports fans native to this country can't get it right, why would I be tripping out if a foreigner can't get it right? I'd be even more surprised to find anyone who would even notice the incorrect order.

The business owner could have been politely informed of his error. The public hysterics could have been avoided.
