Yeah reality is a pain.

Russia is a corrupt, autocratic kleptocracy centred on the leadership of Vladimir Putin, in which officials, oligarchs and organised crime are bound together to create a "virtual mafia state", according to leaked secret diplomatic cables that provide a damning American assessment of its erstwhile rival superpower.

www.theguardian.com...

Russia is a 'kleptocracy' !

Well they are trying to steal Ukraine aren't they.

In the truest definition of the world klepto.

Asen_y2k, you really should be changing that thread title, as it's misleading, and contributes to creating unnecessary fear and tension.

There was no declaration of war from Russia on Ukraine.

Yes, it's close... but there's no evidence from the Russian government of using force. They seem to be only securing their assets.

The US has sent its troops to dozens of countries in the past without any declaration of war, without even being at war against those countries. Look at Haiti, Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Balkans, etc.

I mentioned I will be quoting mostly Ukrainian and Russian news outlets here, as I am in Ukraine. Ukrainian news has stated that this is an official declaration of war and full military mobilization is taking place here in Ukraine to defend against Russia, which according to them has taken over Crimea.

At this mopment on TV here they are repeating:

Ukrainian military is on highest alert to defend against Russian invasion.

We request EU and NATO assisstance to defend Ukraine.

Read this in the comments section on Russia today-

Got word from a cousin in texas that the 2nd armored division and 1st cav. divisions are mobilizing similar to back at the start of the iraq war. He said they seemed to move more urgent this time.

Here

Can someone there is USA confirm this?

War is probably inevitable.

If the US/NATO does nothing, all fear of the US from major nations of the world is going to be lost, and war will break out elsewhere and eventually force the USs participation at some future point.

If the US/NATO comes to the aid of Crimea, then a rather large escalation would occur quickly, unless one party backs down, and it doesnt seem like Russia would do that, and it certainly doesnt make sense for the US/NATO to do that after already making the effort to participate in a confrontation.

This potentially upcoming overt military conflict is really a result of years/decades of covert economic/political war fought behind the scenes.

Duh! So is the USA... Mexico... Canada... the UK... Germany....

Where do you wanna go with that?

To Word War One, I suppose... playing the blame game while shutting your eyes on the very government who'll be sending you, your kids and friends to hell, avoiding the reality that ALL THESE DAMN GOVERNMENTS ARE CORRUPT AND DESPOTIC!

Ever remember the G8!?

Why are you comparing the USA to what is going on over there? Stay on topic.

That was a stupid, stupid thing to have done.

Which of the two is easier to shrug away, when big hair day emerges at last: the flag of the 'EU', or mother Russia's?

'Sovereignty' is key
In preserving if only in our life time,
the purpose to life itself.

Boo Putin.
Now I have to spew him out of my mouth.

Now what's the real problem in Ukraine?
I believe they may have settled on one, and that is the problem.

I would say if this person got a message directly from a family member in the armed forces it is valid. I say this because I wouldn't expect less from the United States but to get the troops prepared. It appears it is escalating quickly.

Ukraine is a sovereign nation, Crimea is a part of Ukraine. Russia has no business going into Ukraine.

Lugansk state just joined the group wanting to separate from Ukraine.

Lightning fast change of government in Kiev, southern and eastern Ukraine met with hostility. Night February 22 Lugansk deputies gathered at an extraordinary session. There were calls for federalism and refusal to transfer money to central government.

This coup in Ukraine was definitely in the best interest of the West, if not instigated by it. Now Putin has had enough and is taking a stand.

The U.S. is playing too many games at the cost of many people's lives, and as a U.S. citizen I've had enough, as has the rest of the world.

This is a very scary time for people of Ukraine, and who knows what else will happen that may drag other nations into the fray? I knew from the beginning the uprising would not end well for the people. Trade one master for another, and be enslaved in more debt.

The United States of America's citizens need to pay close attention to what is happening there because very soon the same will happen here. You want a revolution? What happens after Obama is gone? That is what should be the main concern when that time comes.

For now, my heart hangs heavy knowing a dark storm looms for Ukraine and Russia.

I love you all, please find peace before it's too late.
