Au contraire, mon ami..... That didn't work out so well for Diana. I prefer to do things for myself. So much safer (and I'm a control freak.... Yeah, I admit it)

A control freak, you see all super wealthy are essentially control freaks.

I bet you live in House which has a 15 foot fence and a moat. Its not really a house its a Castle.
You have servants and eat at a longer table drapped in white satin and silver spoon cutlery.
The walls have renaissance paintings which are priceless.
You have private security monitoring the grounds.

And inside this great castle there you sit on a Android logged in to Ats. The moral of the story is in even the super rich control freak there is a human trying to escape out.

So you are of the opinion that everyone's work ethic, everyone's drive to succeed, everyone's goals should be the same?

(use small words, according to you, I'm an idiot)

No... and they're not the same, but YOU are saying that the rich have more drive and ambition.

They DO NOT.

They just have more opportunity and connections.

The nurse struggling to make ends meet, working 14 hour shifts has an amazing work ethic, but may lose their house because they can't afford the rent, bills and everything else going up while their pay is frozen.

The child on the rubbish dump, who lives on the rubbish dump, digging for scraps of metal and food, I suppose if they just dug a little harder, they too could own and run a multi-national corporation?

The guy working in the computer factory, with no health and safety laws, making more per hour than anyone and working longer hours for less pay than anyone in the US or UK, he just needs to knuckle down and have more ambition?

The woman in the sweat shop in Bangladesh, working 18 hours a day, trying to feed her kids and provide shelter and a life for them, while making sure we have nice, branded clothing.... she just doesn't have the ambition to be CEO of Adidas huh?

It has NOTHING to do with drive and ambition.... NOTHING.

It's to do with circumstance, opportunity and class.

And you're worse than an idiot or a moron.... you're ignorant, you refuse to accept the reasons behind poverty and instead make it about the poor and somehow how they are at fault for their own poverty because they don't have ambition or work hard or whatever.

Utterly ridiculous and couldn't be further from reality.

So you throw straw men at me and claim that drive and ambition are pointless.

Circumstance, opportunity and class are the only identifiers that create wealth disparity for you?

So, according to you, we should have equal opportunity, equal circumstances, and equal class to remove wealth disparity?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"?

Nothing creates a slave class like the soviet model. So your a great violinist? Then you play for the glory of the state and don't let us catch you playing any of this 19th self indulgent classical stuff. It was all designed to keep the masses under the thumb of the czar anyway.

Each according to his ability.....he will serve the state.

glad to see that your solution to a person that is succesful is a bullet in the brain. i'm sure your a stone cold killer. i'm sure you could place a 45 between bill gates eyes and pull the trigger. nice. not saying that makes you bad. just glad to know that poor people ar as inherently violent as rich people. i think bender has the right idea. kill all humans. and the world would be a better place. makes perfect sense. anyway, way to try and walk back your inherent thirst for human blood. why use 85 bullets? you'd be introducing a lot of lead into the environement that way. why not just tie they're hands behind they're backs (so they can't hurt YOU!) and bury a crow bar in they're skull. no?. worried about getting blood and guts on your new tennies? understood. why not just throw them in a pool and drop a toaster in? pour gasoline on them and strike a match. push them off the observation deck of the empire state building. take them up in a united airlines plane and have the flight crew bail out after they kill the engines in the middle of the pacific? make them de-core a nuclear reactor with they're bare hands? feed them to white sharks? yes. killing 85 people will make sucha big diference. just a reminder. people with that kind of scratch have friends, and obama is one of them. i suppose you don't feel that way about your king, but the truth hurts doesn't it ?

I know a lot of ordinary people who are control freaks too... It is a trait irrelevant to wealth.

And you are right on one very simple fact... A fact I have tried a million times to get people to understand :

The wealthy put their pants on one leg at a time, just like everyone else. They are human beings too... With feelings and faults and goals and dreams and everything else

They should smarten up a bit.... All that wealth being horded isn't gonna help their future bloodline any if the earth is destroyed, or if all the slaves die out. What good is their pile of money going to be then?

Except it's not really a big pile of money is it? Assets to include businesses and factories and all sorts of things that most likely employ thousands upon thousands upon thousands.

they haven't employed anyone.

They have enslaved a planet

LOL. Really? are you a slave? Looks like you are quite free as you type your opinion on a network provided by eeeeeevvvvillll corporations.

No i am no a slave. But in order to be free i break many laws

And it is just a matter of time before the "justice" system tries to enslave me

One i am found to be free they will stop at nothing to take it from me

Having a massive quantity of money is not a skill. If I had a billion dollars I bet I can invest in quite a few businesses and factories. If I had a billion dollars I could bet 10 million on red as a witticism.

And those businesses they invest in provide jobs. Getting and holding that amount of assets is indeed a skill set. If you were given a billon, I don't doubt that you'd lose it all quite easily.

After a generation or two, redistributed wealth would shift again into the hands of the clever.

Again, at what level do I have to get before you take my stuff and you kick me out or kill me? How much wealth am I allowed to have?

You dont have to worry, if you had 10 lifetimes you wouldnt get close. I would lose a billion dollars quite easily...wow, I dont think you comprehend how much money that is, and that the 89 people we have been talking about all have well over that. Do you realize I could put half or more of the billion in bonds and trusts and banks and cds (excuse my financial ignorance but you get the picture, I can pay someone to explain this stuff to me right?) and still give a million dollars to everyone of my family members, and still never have to work a day in my life and live better then every king who has ever lived?

What the hell do you think that these billionaires do? LOL. They invest money in factories, and businesses, and stock and bonds and use that money to make money and, in doing so, the money goes to provide jobs and opportunity and growth. I see that you have absolutely no concept of money or investing. YOu honestly think that these people sit on a huge money bed like Scrooge McDuck. They don't get where they are by being stupid.

And what I find funny is that you propose that you could invest your money and live happily ever after when you condemn those who do exactly that.

You wouldn't give all off your money to the poor and downtrodden and then become a Buddhist monk?

Now, you keep dodging the question. How much can I make before you would confiscate my assets and deport of kill me?

The point is I dont think what they do is hard, I think anyone can do what they do so I am not impressed or proud of them. You think its some amazing noble gesture that they have a billion dollars and invest some of it to make more money, the godly job creators, so one person is a black hole of economy but its ok because they make some jobs. A lot of them get where they are by being bored. My point is when you have that much money it is not hard to make more, and the byproduct of making more is making some jobs. I proposed I can do that to show you how simple it is, how unimpressive their majesty you are enthralled with is. I have answered this question over and over, if you are in that 89 of the richest. I would do away with private central banks, and have all priorities governmentalized non for profit to make sure enough food was available to all citizens, and a focus on from a young age, real education for all citizens, and everyone would be treated like a real equal citizen. Enough food is produced to consistently feed all people on earth so why is half the population impoverished and starving? This proves that it is not impossible to have a more successful civilization where half the existing humans arent in perpetual suffering and hopelessness and oppression and exploitation as slaves or at least cruelly treated work horses. So it is a problem with the system. You dont see it as a problem, because the bubble you were born into and maintained over your self over the course of your life is cozy, no need to change obviously. The same can be said about my self, but I am not thinking about myself when I am partaking in this side of the argument.

There is obviously an uneven playing field with regards to wealth.

The wealthiest are in a position to amass, grow and keep exclusive their wealth. They keep it out of the hands of the least wealthy and do everything they can to beat the competition - this is business as usual.

So, 85 individuals own half the world's wealth, it looks like there isn't much room at the top of the heap. I can't help but wonder how much they pay in taxes, how much they contribute to charity and what have they done to help public infrastructure and the economy.

Judging by the world I see around me, not nearly enough.

The reason hes a moron is because there is a finite supply of money and with bigger pieces of pie in fewer hands "looking up to the 1%" is never going to amount to anything for 3 billion in poverty because according to the system if there are black holes of wealth like those 89, then not everyone can be out of poverty, in fact 3 billion must be in poverty. This rabid pig fetus of a failed man deserves eternal torture, nothing short of it.

I must admit that this idea about looking up to the wealthy, coming from the wealthy sounds like such a self flattering ect ect bunch of baloney. Its a face in palm and the worst thing you can say to even a working type person. They really don't need to fluctuate themselves in front of everyone considering that the nature of money alone is what drives most people, not the current capitalist superhero.

What I find most humorous about this thread is the claim from certain people that getting people in government to address these issues is not the solution becuase the government cannot do anything right.

If that is the case, then why do many of the most wealthy shower politicians with money.
Why is there an ever increasing amount spent on lobbying, superpacs and so on if they believed government is not the solution

thank you for this post, and video, stargatetravels.
if someone does not yet provide the simple answer, they should not be asked the question any longer...
there is a difference between making more than your share, and taking more than anothers. (referring to extremes of capitalism)
we are unequal because we are not united.
a dispensation of the wealth would only be a distribution of the inequality. (referring to inadequacy of socialism)
a system where everyone is at the mean is what i mean - some may be higher according to their ability, but no one may be lower according to the absence.

As long as we live in a free society, their will always be poverty.

The human condition drives poverty. The human condition creates poverty.

That's such a load of crap.

Greed drives poverty. Some humans are afflicted with greed.

Want to eliminate poverty?

Eliminate ambition. We don't want people working harder than others.

Absurd.
Because the poor don't work hard and usually harder?

Eliminate a work ethic. We don't want people who may be better at a job than others.

What work ethic? A work ethic stops being a factor long before billions are amassed, at that point it becomes about attracting shareholders and hiring the best lawyers, lobbyists not only to persuade laws into your favor but to persuade laws that make it impossible for small businesses to grow and thus compete.

Eliminate freedom. Because if you're free to excel, then you might make more than someone else.

Ha! How about ensuring freedom instead? See above. In addition how about the freedom to live in a place with clean water and air, unpolluted by billionaires that buy their way out of regulation? Or maybe even the freedom to earn a living wage?

Because once you redistribute wealth, you'll have to do it all over again, unless you eliminate all of the above.

Again it's not really about redistributing wealth. It's about redistributing law and ending the practice of it being for sale.
