If it was Imperialism, we'd be colonizing them. We aren't....so it isn't...
Interference though? Absolutely. And I agree with you that they have a right to defend themselves.
But, if you pursue nukes, AND make threats to your neighbors, you have to expect a little global backlash, and that's what Un got.
In the past, previous US administrations (of both parties), have simply given NK food, fuel, and money to just simmer down. It's been a pretty
lucrative business for NK, and one Un had no reason to expect to change.
The election of Trump changed that. Because he doesn't favor the status quo of paying Kim off, so now he's faced with needing food, fuel, and money to
keep his army happy enough to not overthrow him. So, he's desperate, and coming begging to the table....(but of course, can't be SEEN doing so, hence
all this global smoke and mirrors to preserve Un's image while he plays ball.....)
Of course (not so secretly), he's going to keep on doing exactly what he always does, but the WORLD will see it differently, and perception is key.
