we borrow from china and give that money to the un and others its a great system dont you all think

the us philanthropy comes from borrowing and saddling the america public debt and to deny americas own citizens because other people "deserve" it more than we do.

this country is so screwed up on so many levels but the biggest one is other foreign nationals are more important than americans.

all foreign aid needs to be ended the un and nato and others need to bre stopped and kicked out.

some people would call that isolationism but its like this you gotta be able to take care of yourself before you can help other people but then aigan it is not the us governments job to do so.

and of course some people will disagree with that but realize this for every dollar that the government sends overseas means they are taking it away from you and GIVING IT to others.

philanthropy though theft is what i call it and it needs to be ended.

americans for amercians first and last and only let others take care of their own business i dont see anyone
helping americans from overseas and there are too many that need it.

OMG, Is he for real? What kind of idiot does this during a recession and possible depression. Let alone while they are fighting over the budget.

This proves he is an enemy of the state. To think otherwise is madness.

You Americans should be happy. The US is exploiting Africa again and hiding the exploitation behind the guise of charity.

This is what your nation was built on. If your government wasn't "donating" all this money the American people would be living in huts.

These "donations" benefit Americans greatly.

This is Capitalist exploitation of the 3rd world at its best. Are you all commies or what?

That's a good idea, genius.

Nobody is taking anything away from the American people. This is a corrupt government taking YOUR money and using it to buy out and control the economies of other nations, so YOU can benefit from their cheap labour and mistreatment.

Your superficial material lifestyle is dependent upon this "aid". America doesn't even have enough clean running water to sustain itself! Turn to isolationism and they'd be droughts and famine in USA within a matter of years. America would end up broke, unable to sustain itself and looking at an all-out revolution.

Capitalism is unable to survive within the borders of a nation. You'd have to either turn Communist as a country or carry on exploiting and inflicting misery on the rest of the world your unwanted "aid" and "donations".

Nobody in Africa wants your hand outs. They'd be plenty capable of surviving and living well without imperial nations pillaging the place with "aid" and "donations"

I think anyone with and IQ above 12 could read the Title of the article, its date and then what is in it and come to conclusion that the person who posted this article was hoping that no one would bother to look at it and just start screaming like a bunch of idiots. I swear ATS has the most gullible people on the net.

LOL went back and re-read the article - this is the most disturbing part to me

$100 billion a year will be provided through taxpayer and private resources to deal with the alleged threat of global climate change
Its official then isn't it - we've been at war with Mother Nature since October

The US has with held it's UN dues for quite a while. Yes. We owe money to the UN. Past administrations refused to pay up for various reasons probably having to do with getting re-elected by people who bad mouth the UN all the time.

If Obama donated this money good for him. We do not live on this planet by ourselves nor is the USA some "special" nation that has no call to join with other nations to fight disease.

Are we worried about our taxes being used this way? Imagine trying to explain that to God when He stops us getting into heaven because we were too selfish and didn't care about others.

Money is not the most important thing in life and will stay here when we leave but what we do with money while here stays with us forever. I pity anyone who is so tight fisted that nothing else matters to them besides "their precious money".

No. Not all of us are "attack capitalists". There are many here who care about the rest of the world but don't look for them in the republican party or among the libertarians.

The lines you see on the maps... they don't actually exist yet it prevents people from crossing them, sending aid to people that are dying from hunger and disease. That's how primitive we are and one day they'll write about how cruel and stupid we were... if we ever get there, that is.

a few questions
is this spread the wealth thing only for forigners?
can americans get some help first (charity begins in the home)
is this a socialist way of impoverishing america?
does cutting education and health for americans mean the UN will come to america with some money to help out third world america?
will america get handouts when it is broke?
or is that the idea
bunkrupt america and force sanctions on americans to get there own money back
obama the destroyer of economies
is glad to help others just not americans
sure looks like he works for someone else

The article is from 2010.

Obama did seek a pledge to this organization but needed to convince Congress to go along.

The Obama Administration intends to seek $4 billion for the Fund for 2011 through 2013 to continue America’s strong support for this important multilateral partner.

usun.state.gov...

Congress did go along. They authorized 1.05 billion for the fund.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria warmly welcomed passage of the continuing resolution for the Fiscal Year 2011 U.S. budget which contains a US$1.05 billion contribution to The Global Fund. “I offer my sincere thanks to the U.S. on behalf of the millions of people around the world who benefit from resources channelled through The Global Fund.

I am grateful to President Obama and the U.S. Congress

You seem to miss the point of a let's complain about Obama thread. It's a chance to complain about Obama dates are irrelevant. Also there no need to point out the repubs also supported this because it's Obama.

We are in a hysterical panic about SHUTTING down this country due to lack of funds yet we are THROWING MONEY TO OTHER COUNTRIES like we have more money than we know what to do with???

How much MORE is this going to now COST US the American public. What will be CUT next? How many more jobs will be CUT? how many more are we going to lose and SUFFER for as a country now.

PFFFFTT, this is getting WAY outta control.

you should all not worry about this. Our gov't is there to help you. After all, all that money that goes to pay other countries helps to protect you. ALSO, this money will help protect you against these deseases. DON'T YOU WANT TO BE PROTECTED? A little sacrifice here and there for protection is the least we taxpayers could do in sacrifice. I do not know really why people are getting so worried about our gov't taking more and more money's. THE MORE help the better. OK. COME ON. They help you everyday, i think it is time to STEP IT UP. Thanks, U.S.A. What more can us taxpayers do for you.
OH, don't forget to go outside and take a deep breath of air and put a smile on your face.

I find this topic very interesting. It's interest that is killing countries. I had a metaphor come to mind while reading everyone's posts.

If we went away from paper currency (I know, lets just pretend)

I borrow you 4 ears of corn in trade for a hamburger, Ok, seems fair. When you factor in interest it would be like loaning you 4 ears of corn but if you cant get my hamburger to me within 30 days I want the entire cow. How is this sustainable?

What seems to be happening is I borrow you 4 ears of corn to feed your cow. You turn around and borrow those 4 ears of corn to someone and they have to repay you with 5 ears of corn. Eventually a cow gets fed but there is so much borrowed corn there aren't enough hamburgers to go around.

Someone gets screwed, you.

This is obviously a metaphor that helps explain in my mind how the interest pyramid scheme has to come down. Or maybe its a metaphor to give you a nudge on how to grow corn. Who knows =).

Hello all:
Well guess this shows what our government thinks of us. Big Money Cows. Milking us for all they can get. Maybe BHO will donate that phat check he got form that Nobel prize. This should make everyone really consider voting for an independent candidate for president. its not like they could have done this with out both parties knowledge. I hope everyone votes these greedy Layers out of office and not get rapped up in all this political "we are bad but their worse" BS.
