Yes, the end of the world is coming, so the doomsdays believers say, mass hysteria set in, but as usual is it in human nature for some to end committing suicide, out of despair.

Why? because believe it or not people actually are preparing for the end of world, many will commit suicide if it doesn't happen.

This is no new people had done this before.

Now should those that are doing the prediction of doomsday publicly be prosecuted if the end of the world fails again like it had in previous predictions?

I say, yes they should be made to pay for the death of Innocent trusting people, including religious figures.

The truth is that 2012 will come and go, some will die due to despair and mass hysteria, I think that the responsible parties should be gathered and prosecuted for this deaths.

I kind of agree, I also think social services will have a field day afterwards because any parent who quit their job or sold their property IS unfit to bring another life into this world and look after them responsibly.

I feel most sorry for the children.
Growing up on the back end of the cold war & being a delicate child with an overactive imagination THAT was scary enough. This rapture hysteria is libel to scar kids for life!

Who are you? The thought police? If someone decides to fall into this and as a result unfortunately take their life, the blame is solely on the person. The preacher isn't directing the traffic. This same arguement are what's used in music. People listen to music, it has an affect on them.

But the person is responsible for how they let it affect them and what they do, if they do anything.
I don't agree the rapture will be tomorrow but Mr. Camping has every right to say what he wants on his radio program.

The people that listen have the ability to not to. They can change the station or turn their radio off. You can't police someone just because you don't like what they say. This country is about freedom. The only way for you to have freedom is to allow others to have their freedom.

That is absurd. Prosecute someone because other people are stupid and kill themselves?

If someone is so incapable of thinking for themselves that they would commit suicide because some goofball's prophesy doesn't come true, then let them.

This is supposed to be a free country, if someone wants to off themselves, that is their right.

Who am I, Who are you, to tell them they can't?

Simply because some of us wish to protect out fellow man.
Whilst being non religious myself, it doesn't escape me that many people are indoctrined into their faiths as children.
We live in strange times, not because of some end time but because our technology allows us to know virtually everything bad happening on the planet in a heartbeat. Coupled with any end times religion this is asking for trouble WITHOUT whole websites dedicated to feeding the fear, the money grubbing preachers et all. Some people are gullible and as a human being I cannot stand to watch as people die needlessly & children scarred mentally when come monday people will still go out, pay their bills and do their food shopping.

That is one of the big issues when mass suicides are the result of those that promote propaganda, they don't care who they hurt in the process and as usual children are the victims here.

Those that promote mass hysteria with their comments and lies causing harm on the Innocent should no be spear and they should pay for the results of their deeds.

The problem is my friend that too many died at the result of false information specially when it comes to religious believes, for some reason some people are very gullible and they will believe what a religious or so call prophet spoon feed to them.

But when a willing human take his life that is one thing but when children are involved is another story.

As usual children are the unwilling casualties of mass hysteria.

If it were merely an idea I'm sure it would not be going this far..
What we have here is feeding fears and peddling it to be absolute truth.

Prosecuted? Really? Who are you to decide what someone is allowed to say and not say? It comes down to personal freedom and personal choice. If people want to go into their backyard and form a circle around a rock, giving praise to it, so be it. That is what freedom of religion is all about. They aren't telling you what or how to believe. Those that gave up everything thinking the rapture is coming, thats their problem on the 22nd. How is that different then the people that blow their whole check at the casino?

Exactly and is not new, this is been going on for centuries, this how many religious leaders keep their flock glue to their churches.

It is so sad that a religious leader or prophet will do something like this and even like in years past encourage their followers to end their lives or kill them unwillingly.

This about trust, many people trust their religious leaders or mentors like they are actually God's messengers because that is the image they portray to the people that listen to them.

It's ridiculous, thankfully I live in the UK and I don't think many people are aware of the so called rapture. I was reading a story where some fella quit his job and sold his house in preparation for tomorrow, I'm sure he will have a question or two for Harold Camping on Sunday.

Any money that on Sunday, Camping will pick one (or more) of the following excuses: "god has shown his mercy"; "god works in mysterious ways"; "god has spared the world because of us"; "it was a test of faith"; "god has given the world another chance."

Anyone want to hedge a bet as to which phrases he will use?

In America many religions have very strong and charismatic leaders when it comes to the influences in their people that they can even influence political outcomes.

Now that is just an example, we have many instances of charismatic leaders that have cause harm to those that followed and listened to them.
