You can remove them, and besides dont go with the default rom installed anyways, it's crap. Check out the site below find your phone and do some reading on how to change your rom.

XDA

I didn't notice that this is exactly what you did lol

That's right.

I already suspected as much but Peerblocker has confirmed it for me.

They're not all trying to invade my privacy though. Well, frankly I can't tell you why any of them are trying to access my computer. But some of them are connecting to me, and then trying to connect to other servers, as if they're using my computer as a server or proxy. That happens all the time without peoples' knowledge.

But I had no idea so much crap was trying to connect to my computer from colleges and universities all over the world. A lot of the people I see trying to connect, I have no idea what they are trying to do.

Yes Indeed, you are not allowed to use any kind of ad blocking software on ATS at all, it's in the t and c's

Correction: You are not allowed to talk about it!

Anyway...
I've posted the link here numerous times in the past.
If anyone ever pays attention to it.. I don't know..

But I'll do it one more time, for those who actually care to stay somewhat "anonymous".

This is a link to "TOR Browser bundle"
www.torproject.org...

It is great for "newbs" because you dont have to do any of the difficult set up work typically required to get TOR running.

All you have to do is simply open the browser provided (it is firefox), and TOR is already set up and ready to go for you.

Need help, feel free to write.
Its about as simple as it gets though.

If you want to see that it's working..
Just go to a (what is my IP) site using your regular browser..
Notice how it has your location, IP address, etc..

Now,
Open the TOR browser, and go to the same (what is my IP) page...
Notice how you are now somewhere very far from your actual location. lol
Often times across the country (or in another)
and your "IP" is now completely different.

Also..
Use "Disconnect browser extension" (I use it in chromium browser)
It will disconnect anyone from trying to track your activities.

Also..
Stop using window$. lol

This isn't true at all, the government doesn't archive general information, Google and other companies hold records of your browsing activities to "help improve your experience" but firefox add ons such as greasemonkey and a script called Google Anonymizer can easily fix this problem. You could also go the route of Tor browsing (google Tor Bundle) which uses a onion routing network to mask your ip. I can promise everyone here though that you aren't being watched online by big brother (unless of course your on a list)

Not only are they "trying"..
But chances are, If you are a "typical user" (and on windows)>[most likely] ..
They actually ARE accessing your machine.

MS makes it very easy for anyone to do this.

But on a secure OS...
They will be "trying" more than they will be "doing"..

On a windows machine, they will be 'doing', without much "trying" involved.

a real OS actually makes people work if they want to access your machine..

windows makes it stupid easy for anyone to access it!
(even for kids!)

Good post, I just want to add that it does mask your ip, but anyone can monitor the open ports this program connects through and easily grab your real IP address, in other words this isn't a full proof way to protect yourself.

This also isn't true, no one is connecting to your computer and looking at your files, It doesn't work that way, they would have to have a open FTP or SSH connection running on your computer. If you look on peerblock you will notice that these companies usually connect through TCP and UDP protocols, which aren't file sharing capable

There's no software you can download to avoid being tracked. All of that information is stored in a cloud and has nothing to do with your hard drive.

False, there's plenty of software out there open source and paid Apps, that help remove your information as well as prevent future storing of your browsing activities.

You guys kinda disappoint me I thought there were more tech heads on this site. >

Well, what ever ad agency abovetopsecret uses, certainly uses tracking cookies.

I was buying bras once and the next thing I know I'm seeing the exact same bra on abovetopsecret!

Talk about no privacy!

This site is one of the worst for this type of thing. Yahoo will sometimes do this too but not as much as this site.

I get ads on here for everything I buy online.

I use SuperAntivirus software free version and clean that all out once a week. I can turn it on full time to block, but I don't like that either.

thanks.
Right, it's not fool proof by any means..
Though it is at least a little more "secure", in a sense.
Let's just be glad that not everyone/every place actually does monitor the open ports it connects through. lol
Often times a simple 'extra door' or 'step' is all that's required to put someone off and go find someone "easier to play with".

Though it all depends on whose who, I guess.

This is why on the TOR site i linked to, Clearly states..
"this is not all you'll need to "fully protect" yourself"
"It is just one step of many"
"Read up and take all proper precautions"

well, you know.. something to that effect. lol

Yup, if it wasn't slow I would switch over and use the bundle as my daily browser. It makes for very good "blanket" protection.

True.
But if "they" had a specific 'target',
and did want to look at /access ones files...
It wouldnt take much work..
If said machine was a typical/default windows system.

I can easily take control of and access the files on my dads windows computer at his house..(and lock him out)
(without him allowing me to).

I actually did it to prove to him that I could, after he insisted that I could not. lol

I don't think he has booted up that machine since then.

But he keeps windows on it for his wife.
lol
Though I did tweak it a bit , and did have trouble the next time I tried, just to see what happened.

Still, If one does not "tweak" the proper settings on their windows machine after they buy/install it..
It really is not hard for someone to take control of it, as if it were their own.
