You're a nut. Perhaps you are projecting incestful feelings for your own sister on the commercial.

I didn't see anything but a close brother sister relationship when I watched the commercial, but when I looked at the hand in the crotch shot at the 26 sec point, I was astounded. Stop the video at that point, it is almost pornographic. I don't know about incest, but pedophilia comes to mind. Her hand position is not normal. It looks like she could only be doing one thing. If a female relative of mine did that, I would be freaked out. If a non-relative female did that, I would be highly turned on. If it was a teenage girl, I would have to leave.

Pedophilia??? Pedophilia is attraction to pre-adolescent children. That girl is at least 17 or 18. As far as the hand placement on the 26 second mark, I could probably record you moving around for 45 seconds and at some point freeze the picture and have you looking like you were touching yourself. You're about as weird as the OP.

Here's a horrible Betty Crocker commercial.

Not at all. Regarding the placement of her hand... near the crotch between the legs is a very warm part of the body, and it's obviously cold weather. Her hands might be cold. Or, perhaps she's nervous doing the commercial and just happened to slip it in that area for a moment without noticing. Move on.

But then again, maybe she's touching herself to the thought of the coffee.

Its really sad that people are reading sex in this commercial and as far as here hand being "down there"
It was a cold morning, she had both of her hands under each side of her thigh to keep them warm.
Ive seen many people do this and Ive done it myself.

At no time, when i see people do this OR when i do it, does anything sexual come to my mind.

And why in the hell would Folgers even promote incest in a commercial? it makes no sense, just like the OPs observation.

ahahahahahaaaaaa okay that one is genuinely creepy. I want to think that it's a parody, but it's a little subtle for that.

No, you wouldn't, the only time my hand gets near my crotch in public is if I am checking to make sure my fly isn't open.

This girls hands isn't between her thighs, stop the video and look at where her hand is, way deep down on her crotch.

Put your hand there sitting out someplace in pubic and see what kind of reactions you get.

I see girls who sit with their hands basically on their crotch, but not deep down where this girls hands are placed.

Like I said in my original post, I thought it was all innocent, until I took a look at the hand placement. This is on utube, on a full sized TV it would be even more impacting, but so quick, so subtle, they are using sex to sell Folgers tied up to a bro sis relationship. It's twisted.

seems like you have unresolved issues with your sister if you think there is anything wrong with that comercial

All i see is a very nice advert for a change. She obviously missed him and he missed her..and coffee of course
.

It is Christmas after all she is happy enough to have her big brother back for Christmas safe and sound and that's all the present she needs.
I thought it was a nice advert.

EDIT:
If you did see anything sexual you either:
a) have feelings for your own sister
b) noticed tension because the 2 actors slept together?

I agree it was done on purpose, nothing is done without the directors say so,every move, every hair in place placement of props, everything is scrutinized by the director. Was it done on purpose?.....you bet it was!!

Alright, I watched it again, and I have to say, it is actually a nice, cute, heartwarming video.

I did not watch it with sound last night, but today I watched it with sound, and there is not any sexual undertones in my opinion.

Maybe between the actors, but only of the slimmest amount.

Edit to add: Okay truthfully, I watched it again, and I did see that sexual tension, but it is more hilarious than anything!

Okay I watched it AGAIN, and it is definitely a little creepy.

She is eyeing his crotch when she says, "You're my present this year."

And then after that, he is eyeing out her body.

It is all very awkward. If it had been boyfriend and girlfriend, this commercial would have worked.

Overall sexual undertones are there. It is probably just the actors themselves though.

I am a survivor of sexual incest and the look he gave his sister wasn't that type of look. I know very well "the look".

I'm sorry you, or anybody in this world, experienced something so hurtful. However, your statement about the commercial doesn't make sense. Of course the actor in that commercial didn't have "the look," and this is for two reasons:

a) If the incest subtext in this commercial was, in fact, intentional, it was not the director's goal to present a realistic portrayal of incest as it actually occurs in the real world. The goal is to sell coffee by presenting a taboo sex fantasy that might appeal to the viewer's subconscious, as opposed to forcing the viewer to confront disturbing realities.

b) This is Hollywood we're talking about. Most commercials, TV shows and movies do a horrible job of portraying normal romantic and sexual behavior in a way that is authentic and true-to-life. It stands to reason, therefore, that they would be even more hard pressed to accurately convey all the subtlety and nuance of an incestuous brother's predatory way of looking into his sister's eyes.

I must agree with the op. The clips reek of sexual tension throughout. Mostly in the clip from the 80's. Mom audible joy when she takes a sip of Joe is clearly a reaction brought on by dad's hands that are off camera. And of course their son's name is Peter. How much more do you need? Now if you will excuse me I need a cup of coffee and.....a cigarette.

Um... Yeah.
Without being the least bit derogatory, I would have to say that the op is chasing windmills here.
There is nothing at all incest-ful in this commercial.
Now... that is not in any way saying that there is not sex in advertising. Quite the contrary in fact.
But, think about it.
What would be the benefit of advocating incest in a coffee commercial?
I think the op may have some unresolved issues regarding intimacy and the lines drawn around it denoting boundaries or some ultra puritanistic view not unlike some of the leaders back in the days of old Salem.
No offense intended but, you may want to delve into the inner psyche and see where this comes from.

Saying "without being the least bit derogatory" and "no offense intended" does not change the fact that you've just made some incredibly stupid, baseless assumptions about me. You don't know a damned thing about me, and your attempt at amateur psychology is all kinds of fail.

As to your question, "what would be the benefit of advocating incest in a coffee commercial," how many times do I have to explain that nobody, I repeat, NOBODY is claiming the coffee commercial "advocates" incest. Subliminal advertising does not work the same as normal advertising.

The key word, again, is subliminal. Cigarette and alcohol advertisers have been caught red-handed airbrushing skulls, and even the word "cancer" into their print ads. Do you think they're advocating death? Of course not. They are hoping to appeal to the viewer's presumed subconscious desire to destroy himself.

By the same token, if there is an intentional subtext of incest in this commercial, it is there to work on your subconscious mind. The goal is to sell a product by any means necessary. The only thing being advocated is your purchase of that product.

I didn't get that out of the video.

The look on the guys face where you said he's contemplating a "lean-in" kiss looks more like an "ah, shucks" looks to me.

I didn't get any sort of sexual innuendos in the commercial. And I hate Folger's coffee.

I haven't read all the replies ... and to make my own observation I don't need to.

I find the most disturbing thing about your OP after watching the video ... is the fact that you actually saw 'anything' sexual at all about it ... even more disturbing that you thought the family love and affection displayed in the ad must have incestuous undertones.

Maybe you should look at your own subliminal psychology a little closer ?

That says more about the members than any coffee that Folgers is selling.

I've lumped both your comments together so I can respond to them in bulk. You are both making stupid, stupid assumptions.

That analysis says more about the person doing the analysis than about the commercial... CREEPY....

Again, IT IS NOT MY ANALYSIS. How many times do I have to state that I was quoting another poster's statements from another message board. And I clearly labeled their statements as such.

You think I'm creepy? Well I think you're a member of the peanut gallery who's not very good at reading for comprehension.
