Did Freud have mommy issues? Because I don't think it changes anything, the video is weird. And you should probably know Folgers is crap.

Yeah, seriously. Folger's might be palatable if you dump a ton of Splenda and milk into the cup, but why not start with a decent coffee so you're at least working from a good baseline?

You seem to have a perverse view of love. Do you work for social services by any chance?

It can be interpreted in many ways.

Watched it once, did possibly see some sexual vibes.

Watched it again, and truthfully it was more of a loving relationship more than anything.

Like others have said, the actors themselves contribute to what the final commercial is.

With all that said, I find this to be an intriguing thread, and wow at some of the closed minded replies.

Um... Yeah.
Without being the least bit derogatory, I would have to say that the op is chasing windmills here.
There is nothing at all incest-ful in this commercial.
Now... that is not in any way saying that there is not sex in advertising. Quite the contrary in fact.
But, think about it.
What would be the benefit of advocating incest in a coffee commercial?
I think the op may have some unresolved issues regarding intimacy and the lines drawn around it denoting boundaries or some ultra puritanistic view not unlike some of the leaders back in the days of old Salem.
No offense intended but, you may want to delve into the inner psyche and see where this comes from.

I haven't read all the replies ... and to make my own observation I don't need to.

I find the most disturbing thing about your OP after watching the video ... is the fact that you actually saw 'anything' sexual at all about it ... even more disturbing that you thought the family love and affection displayed in the ad must have incestuous undertones.

Maybe you should look at your own subliminal psychology a little closer ?

I didn't see anything but a close brother sister relationship when I watched the commercial, but when I looked at the hand in the crotch shot at the 26 sec point, I was astounded. Stop the video at that point, it is almost pornographic. I don't know about incest, but pedophilia comes to mind. Her hand position is not normal. It looks like she could only be doing one thing. If a female relative of mine did that, I would be freaked out. If a non-relative female did that, I would be highly turned on. If it was a teenage girl, I would have to leave.

So we have a number of people on ATS who have some insecurity issues when it comes to a dramatization of siblings interacting in a friendly manner.

That says more about the members than any coffee that Folgers is selling.

Lol, the people commenting on youtube seem to have the same idea at the OP. Some comments even say it turns them on lmao. I didn't notice anything sexual, but after watching it a few times I can see where people get the hint. The way she smiles and says "Really?", and the eye contact.

Using this quote to expand a theory. Yes Theory on this site! woo hoo!
I've done both direction and coaching (acting) and it is very hard to get people to stop doing what they consider natural. Like strange hand placement. Now I know for a fact that when I'm driving in the winter time before my heater gets the car warm I'm using my thighs to warm my hands. So it is possible that the director is at fault for not yelling 'cut' and saying "you are in a house. you should not be cold." also "this is your brother. you shouldn't think of HIM as the present, but his being there!"
Misplaced instruction. Bad director. That's all I see.
Now where's the clam orgy? Yes, read loads on subliminal, but one thing's for sure, this technique is never accidental. Her hand placement may be natural for her in her daily life just to keep her hands warm.

I don't know man, I s'pose it's interesting but with all the major issues going on (and destruction of the US dollar and its country, political lies, 9-11 treason, UFO cover-ups and possible Global take-over) do you really think there's room to care about this?

Why are we still watching tv anyway? If you watch it then, don't complain. You have control over that (for now anyway)

This commercial is totally subjective anyway so...who cares? And what if they were promoting incest? What now?
Boycott Folgers and turn off your TV (imagine that!)

Nothing against you OP but in these dire times we all face with prices going up, income going down, unemployment and evictions/foreclosures at an all time high, do we really have room to care about coffee commercials? I mean, really?

That analysis says more about the person doing the analysis than about the commercial... CREEPY....

Nobody touches themselves like that in public, only in private, by yourself, or with a lover, or in a strip club. If she couldn't stop from touching herself, they would have gotten another actress. They spend too much money on these commercials, and no doubt the 45 seconds of footage was gone through extremely thoroughly.

This had to be done on purpose.

Question do you always look for things that represent incest? I'm just curious thats all not trying to poke fun.
I saw nothing sexual about this commercial. I saw a sister who mises her brother that is all. Thanks for the reminder though a cup of Coffee sounds delicious right now.

While I definitely do not see incest, maybe the OP and the few others who agreed with the OP are picking up on something else that is there. Maybe the two actors are having a consensual, sexual relationship with each other; possibly the reason why it looks like they may be flirting???

Just not sure of her age though. I do know that I have seen women in their mid 20's who could pass for 15 year olds.

I have to agree with the above. Despite what is intended, any sexual subtleties are really so small as to be negligible. It probably doesn't help that they are not really brother and sister and honestly, if you haven't grown up in a family like that then that kind of affection WILL seem sexual.

I can be honest and say I caught a sexual vibe, but that they are my own perverted thoughts as a guy (I mean really, wouldn't that be soooo hot). If you grew up looking at porn of any kind then chances are that the scenario acted out in the commercial reeks of a familiar plot.

This thread is so funny. I don't know about the rest of you, but I sit just like that girl is sitting, with her hand between her legs, ALL the time, and I am not "touching myself" while doing it. It's either for warmth, balancing on top of a counter, or just plainly out of comfort. A woman can put her hand on her own body without it needing to be sexual. Especially in the context of this commercial, she's in her pajamas, in the early morning, in her own house, with no one but her family present.

Anyway, if this commercial was actually subliminally pushing an idea of incest, why? Why do you think Folgers has an incestual agenda in the first place? Is there some sort of basis for the claim? Because otherwise, it's just silly.
