Great, but views don't have to oppose or be different at all.

Just a little mutual respect and the willingness to listen and accept different views.

Seems like a lot of posts lately contain bashes, hate and insults directed towards America/Americans. Whats the problem? I see a lot of post that want to see the demise of the U.S.

I can tell you this much. From what i see and hear on the news, i would rather be here than anywhere else.
Get mad at your own Government. I mean after all, that is where the problems stem from.

The only reason I even bother to keep trying to discuss about stuff that should not be done past, present or future.

That's simply impossible for some of us to admit that we act the "stereo typical American" when we can't get past our own delusional self importance over others.

For what its worth, I "bash America" by bashing the government. I am a strong patriot and love what America should be. But it is shameful what it has become.

For this, I am guilty of bashing America. I just want to make sure you might understand my motives, if you have seen my posts.

People talk about US decline because it is really happening as of now.
USA needs to revert back to the way it was in the 50s-80s time frame, when it was the best and most prosperous country in the world. During those days people from all over the world looked up to the USA. That is no longer the case. I guess the USA changed in the 1990s and although at first it appeared to be for the better it proved to be for the worse, actually. Before the 90s and the 00s, the USA seemed more balanced. But I am not American, so I might be wrong.

Well I was born and raised here in America. I have bashed both parties policies and bashed socialism, etc but I too have noticed a sharp increase in hatred towards our country. My personal experience has been with one particular Muslim, that I wont name. Ive said this before that I have no problem with law abiding Muslims. It's the Muslim's turned atheists that I fear! There seems to be many who fit this catagory. Although I disagree with US policies I'm proud to be an American.

I wish we'd go back to the days of prosperity too. The problem is we're out-sourcing everything. Nothing is being manufactured in the US, like after the war. I dont expect a big change. Corporations will continue to profit at the expense of the US wokers. Weve dug a deep hole.We arent alone though prices in the UK are extremely steep these days. 400 pounds for a hotel room. Wow!

Dissidence is the greatest form of patriotism. It shows that you actually do care what your country is doing on your behalf.

And no, I don't think there's anything wrong with trash-talking all the apathetic or even supportive Americans who allow the government to do what it does. And according to the American Bill of Rights I have every right to say that. How's that for patriotism?

Well, I guess I can take at least a portion of the credit for US bashing.

Of course, I was sent to other nations with a rifle in my hand, and I actually made certain that I wasn't loved.

I sincerely apologize to other Americans if they feel personally included in the kickback.

After all, if not for a few of us bad apples . . .

I take it back.

I'm not apologizing!

If this was directed at me I think it was reasonable, and well within the topic.

Wait Wait....

What about the American who ignores, belittles and side steps those with legitimate opposing views

Topics should have thermometers to see how much they are heating up after each post, who are you referring to, and to others, when was it wrong to voice opinions even when it didn't fully relate? As to the person who thinks that Australia was founded/built by convicts/criminals alone...your wrong many law abiding citizens came to set up farms and a legal system, I'm from Silesia with a bit of Welsh and Italian heritage, no criminal history here, but I have had a crime commited against me by someone of Asian descent who had migrated to Australia, for future reference...don't tar everyone in or from Australia with the same brush.

yawn. another "stop picking on us" thread.

Take a look at your news media, take a look at your politicians, take a look at the comments section on any board here on ATS or elsewhere on the net, and you'll find Americans - from presidents (past and present) to the anonymous blogger and everything in between engaging in the exact same "bashing" of any country that has ever done anything that even remotely contradicts US policy. Often times, it doesn't even need to be an action - just the possibility of an action, and it runs the gamut from outright warmongering all the way down to minutiae in the travel section of the saturday paper.

The behaviour you lament is something of an American passtime - and it's far more interesting than the last two you tried to export (baseball and American football). Don't blame us for wanting to join in.

Anarchist are looking for perfection, in an imperfect world, can you cry peace with a sword?

I remember the hippies and their non- materialistic peace and love diatribes, they became the most materialistic generation ever.

Watch that you don't become the most violent, will you become that which you hated?

All violence consists in some people forcing others, under threat of suffering or death, to do what they do not want to do.
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.
Leo Tolstoy

It's never going to end you know,

Not all violence is to compel others by force to do something they don't want to do.

You have day and night.

Maybe you want to just have those who ruthlessly use violence to themselves rapidly assume ambient temperature.

You see, even good guys can be violent if violence is required.

A capability for ruthless violence is not to be equated with a preference for ruthless violence.

Sometimes the situation just calls for it.

Actually our votes do nothing. Our votes are worthless and dont matter if you vote or not, the only votes that actually count are those of the electoral college.
