They're trying to storm the treasury building

These kids are awesome.

What I seen was some people clashing with other people.

both sides were probably having fun

meanwhile, nothing changed...the bill passed, and there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do about it.

What passed was simple...if you goto university, and it helped you out, then once your making some decent money, pay it back.

I do not object to this idea.

What in the world are you talking about? ATS doesn't allow discussion of protests as per the T & C? I wouldn't mind seeing that link and snippet.

I have been watching people in Britain, France, Greece and other places riot because they are getting shafted by TPB and they are sick of seeing their nation's wealth being stolen from them, but nothing in America.

Why are we Americans so dam apathetic? Why are we so easily distracted by Monday Night Football and Jersey Shore that we are not reacting to the massive fraud and theft being perpetrated on us. Why are we allowing the government to give our national wealth away to Global Corporations and foreign Countries?

If we are fighting with fire then we are simply feeding the fire that already is - thus losing and that is what they want.

There are better ways to shape the world, aggressiveness and negativity only deforms it more.

We're apathetic because we protest for a lot harder issues than tuition fees going up. Things are bad in the states. People with low income housing, all of a sudden get they're homes tore down so someone can't put up a strip mall.

Not a good enough reason for apathy? How about our fascist government letting us do only what they allow.

Patriot Act. Beat it, or ride on.

not sure if these have been added but here is some good footage of the Charles and Camilla car attack. It's a bit weird as it seems they wind down their window for some reason in the midst of cries of "off with their heads"

It's still there.... why not go and read it, maybe you'll read it properly this time.
I said ACTIVISM isn't allowed on ATS.

If I said, come and join my protest on blah blah at blah.... the thread would be removed.
Recruiting and activism is forbidden on ATS.... It's in the T&C. Why not read them.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If it has somehow changed and now Activism and the discussion of these things is allowed, then I apologise and I am wrong.

yes, that is right, that's not a completely ridiculous argument at all. So. in land logarock, passionate enough to rebel against the system = they're all going to go home and kill their parents.
What planet are you on?

Shock.
Someone dares 'tell' Americans something.
Guess what, the world doesn't turn on what the USA says or does, your nothing special at all.

I'll say what I want, because that my 'friend' is my right and no jumped up septic is ever going to make me do anything, some have tried and they were promptly put in their place.

Like far too many Americans you seem intent on putting your nose in everyone elses business but hate anyone commenting on anything 'Amercan'.
Hypocrisy and pathetic.

Your arrogance and conceit is a disgrace to all those American's who know what dignity and respect are really about, concepts obviously alien to you.

The easiest way to get 'Americans' rioting?
Shut all the burger bars, the US's one offering to world culture!

Odd indeed. Well, unless the so-called PTB was willing to sacrifice a couple of their own to justify lashing out with a deadly hand to squash the rioting for good.

Exactly what I said in the other thread...

I've heard on the news that this car didn't take It's normal, quiet, back-street route.... but instead the security team opted to take HRH and Camilla right through the middle of this protest?

This smells funny to me...

Did they WANT the students to attack this car, perhaps to use against them and against protests in the future.

Seems dodgy to me.

I have two questions about the Prince Charles video:
1. Why was Prince Charles driving around town during a riot?
2. In the video I noticed only 2 police officers, and they didn't show up until near the end of the video, so why was the 1st person in line to the throne of England so unprotected?

Great points Freeborn, it amuses me when our American friends talk about not protesting. The funny thing is they have protested, it was called the Tea Party, protesting AGAINST public spending, a public health care system etc. The exact opposite of what we Europeans take to the streets and protest for.

If students in America protested against their government they would be labelled as Commies. Same with any trade union protests.

Did you see how the motorcycle police and the officers that would normally be around the car were hesitating to do their jobs? Also did you notice the window next to Camilia was down, what was that about? They looked absolutely frightened, probably gave them a moment to pause about why they were going down that street.

I was watching the protest right from the start ~11am to 10PM, very exciting, and I agree with some of their message (e.g education for all, against the harsh cuts), but doing stupid things like defacing the statue of Churchill is ridiculous. Shows a complete disregard for the people who helped save your rights like the right to protest in the first place. I'm sure the possible Nazi occupiers would have interesting ways to stop that protest. They obviously weren't history students.

The organisers and supporters of these protests need to ensure that trouble-making groups don't work their way into these protests. See someone defacing a statue in disrespect? Drag them away, see someone hitting a police horse with a stick? Drag them away.

Remember, the more trouble you cause, the more reason they have to take your rights away next time. How would you like it if they started using rubber bullets, water cannon, deafening noise like they do in North America?

Also be on the look out for the agent provocateur, one police plant who causes trouble gives reason to come down hard on the protest and end it.

This footage isn't awesome it's idiotic. What does rioting actually achieve? What a waste of time and energy.
The police they're hurling things at and clashing with are civilians as well, they're not the decision makers. There are no winners here. When will people learn that this type of behaviour is counterproductive.

Well, I am eagerly looking for all the alternative suggestions you have to offer, O wise one. Words are so cheap. The lesson of history is that absolutely no human rights were ever won without violence.

You see, justice and freedom were never gained by argument. It was torn from grubby hands that ordered swords (and now police batons) to be used on their behalf.
