huh? i'm pretty sure anyone would agree to this mantra. the problem is in HOW these goals are accomplished. and there doesn't need to be anyone other than the unemployed who put themselves back to work. all this sounds like is more government to fix a problem created by...you guessed it, too much government. i saw a sign on a Rite Aid drugstore that said "now hiring". there are jobs out there. people need to get over themselves and realize that no job is beneath the unemployed and that the most embarrasing job is collecting stolen money from our brothers' paychecks via the government.

Check out a "protest" at Europe.. And then think of the onenation rally..

The newscaster says the rally in the US is mild, and lacks serious direction and is merely an appeal.. Whereas in Europe people are demanding serious taxation of the rich... When will the americans learn..

Okay people, explain to everybody here at ATS why exactly socialism is a bad thing compared to capitalism? Compare the pros and cons between the two from how they function in our world TODAY, not what you've been told in chain emails. Expose the left for what we really are? go ahead, you wouldn't even be able to check, and get your facts straight, the whole thing would turn into a laughing stock when everyone realizes what a bunch of tools you are. Oh sure you can tell the world that the left is secretly socialist, but can you tell anyone why this is a bad thing, beyond talking points? All the right wing tea baggers do is complain really loud, and also are funded by corporations who use them as their means to stay in control. I've never seen so much ignorance then in the last 3 years. Where the # were you from 2000 - 2008? or were you all still reeling from Clinton getting his dick sucked in the white house? I can't wait until Oct. 30th for the rally to restore sanity, you'll see our numbers compared to the capitalist rally to protect corporate wealth and realize you don't have a chance at getting republicans back in control. To tell you the truth I don't want to see any democrats control the majority either, I just want politicians who are smart, and bold enough to tell corporate lobbyists to # off. And voters who are smart enough to vote for those who do tell corporations to # off. I'm so close to becoming an ex-patriot because of the sheer stupidity that is mounting here in America, I don't want to be associated with you people when I say I'm an American. You're all a #ing embarrassment, the world is laughing at you.

Exactly. Anyone who wants to deride socialism needs to look at the models in place in these countries. I'm sure they're far from perfect but they do seem to work.

why do so many people fail to see that america's economic system is designed to eventually funnel all wealth to the most elite/wealthiest? I won't get into the "socialist" banter, but 1) Obama is not a socialist, and 2) it's actually not a dirty word. What we're seeing now amounts to a mild form of McCarthyism.
It's not the "ideals" or political affiliations that matter, out system was designed to fail. It's simply a mathematical certainty (unless it's dramatically changed that is).

Now onto the math:
the "national" debt in the US is $13.6 trillion, the true national debt public and private is roughly 57 trillion( I found multiple sites to support this, but if anyone finds something different feel free to let me know) note: this is the combined debt of the US public and private.
The interest on this debt estimated at a conservative 5% is (57 x 10^12) x .05 = 2.85 trillion
GDP=14.8 trillion as of 2008
This means our interest payments alone (as a country) are nearly 20% of the GDP, possibly more.

Politics and political platforms are only a problem in the sense that whatever side they come from spreads propaganda and masks the real issues. Government CANNOT fix this problem under the current economic system.

The real issue is allowing a central banking system to exist and exploit. A reading of some of Thomas Jeffersons writings will reveal some interesting insights into this as well as many other subjects.

Okay folks, everyone keeps going on and on and on and on about the economic system.

Why don't you folks tell us what kind of economic system that exists in say the US?

Republicans do not want people to have access to health care
Republicans are for reducing income tax only for the very rich. The top 1% income makers in the country take 30% of our countries total income which is up from 10% only a decade ago.
Multiple attempts to circumvent the CONSTITUTION
Cheneys attempt to seize power
etc....

The democrats want everyone to have healthcare........oooooh that's a bad thing. Now instead of only the rich getting access to cancer drugs, people like you and me would get access to them also. Children could not be dropped due to pre-existing conditions.

democrats believe that if you were lucky enough to make a VERY, VERY good living, maybe you should help your fellow citizens just a bit. Because the super rich could not have gotten super rich without those same citizens.

Now are the democrats perfect? No absolutely not but they are the lesser of 2 evils at this point.

This makes no sense. If that is their agenda, they're idiots. Because the reality is if the United States is destroyed as you suggest it will, they will most likely be destroyed with it.

There is no hope for Americans - how can anyone be against what Obama is doing with these current tax cuts? He is EXTENDING them for MIDDLECLASS america and letting them expire for the WEALTHY. What the hell is peoples problems with that?

Learn what the problem is and work from there.
