WASHINGTON (AFP) - Russia would cross "a red line for the United States of America" if it were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba, a top US air force officer warned on Tuesday.

I don't know, if the US thinks putting missiles and other junk on Russia's doorstep is a great idea, why shouldn't Russia be able to return the favour? They are after all "just protecting themselves".

Oh, so now it's "don't step!" from us when we've been steppin' this whole time! Talk about hypocrisy! I don't blame the General here, he is just doing his job, but the Bushy's, to put him in this spot, is just lame!

Sorry the missile shield is not NUCLEAR BOMBER WITH PAYLOADS OF NUCLEAR BOMBS 30 miles off the coast.Still the missile shield is in a NATO country which was former Warsaw.BTW it was Poland and Czech Republic who wanted to join nato..as they fear Russia.Hungary join as well.

Another one that just doesn't get it. Thinks that somehow the U.S. missile defense system and russian offensive nuclear capable bombers are the same thing, or somehow equal.

Terrorism is the new communism, that is why you do not see the Russians vilified anymore. It is equal in the sense that they told us not to step and we did, now they're steppin'. That's what it comes down to.

I think they have every right to have them stationed on the defensive. Using the word offensive don't make it so . Are you saying that your 100% sure those "defensive" missiles cant be used offensively? If you have a copy of the owners manual please post it here .
It's not like they said "Hey look were going to nuke you"
They are just saying "Hey look we have nukes too" And we can park them right at your door and there aint # you can do about it . And if you do we'll nuke you off the map. Sounds fair to me . Wonder how many nukes we have pointed there way already .
Is there a rule that you cant store nukes in cuba?
We have a prison there where we torture people and since it isn't our soil its supposed to be "ok" .

Washington needs to step back from military and corporate oil control, until that happens the lives of all are threatened.

They park nukes in Cuba we return and bring back ABM's to all NATO European countries.That sounds fair.Actually we go ahead and return all medium ranged ballistic missiles there as well.

I guess Russia is doing this because of the Missile Shield we are putting up around there country. Yes i do believe Russia has the right to do this because we as a country (Bush) needs to be put in his place. I hope nothing comes out this because the whole Russia and China being superpowers scares the s**t out of me. Russia is really not caring anymore about America and our threats because they have the same weapons we have if not more.

As the Cuban Air Force currently has the MIG 29 which is capable of launching a cruise missile (Nuclear). This means they already have a weapon platform in place. So just a matter of delivering the small cruise missiles.

Would be a lot easier to get a fighter through than a bomber.

but also has Airbases and Navel bases that are practicaily on Russias door which last time checked was offencive,

Russia has every right to do the same.

Seems also Chavez will spend US $30 billion buying Russian weapons for Venezuela and states they want Russian protection from the US.LOL since when that country fears us?

The two countries hope to sign an agreement for Venezuela to buy Russian military equipment, said Vyacheslav Davidenko, a spokesman for Rosoboronexport, Russia's government agency in charge of arms exports. The agreement will allow "quick deliveries of arms and military hardware in the interests of Venezuela's security with the observance of international obligations and the laws of both countries," Davidenko told CNN.

Interfax quoted an "informed military expert" as saying Venezuela planned to purchase up to 10 air defense systems, three diesel electric submarines, six more non-nuclear powered submarines and several surface vessels. Venezuela also planned to discuss the possibility of buying certain aircraft, including combat helicopters, the expert said.

Venezuela is expected to spend over $30 billion under a program to rearm its armed forces up to 2012, the Interfax source said.


Seems everyone wants to run to Russia now since they fear the big eroding Eagle.

No planes carry nukes, not while there is a treaty in place.
The bombers will have conventional war heads. But can be armed with nukes. Theres something about this administration that thinks its funny to poke the Russians with a stick. Now theyre gonna poke back.
At some point this pokings going to end and Titors prophecy will come true.
The Russians will set us free.

BTW the missle shield wont stop the Russians cruise missle nukes. They are stealthed now and have an optical radar built in so in essense.... They can duck. The heat signatures been fixed too.

They see the anti missle missles as offensive and have from the get go. We were not supposed to develope the technology because it makes part of your enemies nukes useless. They didnt want another cold war / nuke race. Which to me is offensive tech not just defensive. Its a gray area and I agree with the Russians. I think they are giving us one last warning. If no one listens they will nuke.

The Russian's would be very dumb to Nuke or threaten a Nuclear assault on the US.

They know full-well our Nuclear Subs would be on stand-by to turn the Continent into glass.

Russia is trying to put pressure on the US in fear that the US is going to attack Iran. The US won't have to as Israel will probably do that anyway.

The Star Wars missle defense is what killed the Russian economy trying to keep up that. The result was the break-up of Russia.

Good thing China hasn't started throwing their weight around yet by moving into Eastern Russia for Oil and mineral resources. Russia will be looking to the US for support.

Don't worry until you start hearing about nuclear fuel enrichment plants in Cuba.

The truth is, this is another elite power game of 'distract the humans' Cuba is not our soil, it can make and execute whatever policy it finds convenient. The same applies to any 'sovereign' nation, including those who will allow the 'missile defense shield'.

The rest is diplomatic noise.

Bush and company have made a target out of our nation, is it any wonder people are lining up to 'defend' themselves?
