Well these F-14s are so old I do not think that this incident is that bad.

Yeah right,

Even the basic F-14 A is still effective, you know?

And also.. think about USSR getting to its hands all the advanced electronics of the Tomcat..
mainly the radar and military computers..

It is a big deal.

who cares? the mig-31 owns it anyway

This isnt surprising at all. Everyone steals or buys the opponents gear to test and exploit.

Yes, this is little surpricing, as the Soviets did do this as much or as successfully as USA.

US has plenty OPF aircrafts, and Soviets had only couple US aircraft.

As for what i know Soviets had CH-47s, UH-1s, F-5s, A-37s, F-14s and parts of F-111s and F-4s.. and during allied force they got (Russians) F-117 and F-16 parts and UAVs and dud missiles..

Gaza,

More like Piasecki H-21C:

US used these choppers first at Nam. (first US choppers in Nam..)

whilst the Army sent 33 H-21Cs to South Vietnam as early as December 1961, making the Shawnee one of the first US military aircraft to arrive in-theatre. More than 90 of these obsolescent utility helicopters would eventually see action over Vietnam up to their final retirement in 1969.

Fury,

Low tech and 'mechanical weapons' are totally different..

But if 'enemy' gets a hold of your best high tech equipment.. it is then rendered useless..

Lets take for as an examble a radar..

Enemy studies it.. and makes countermeasures for it (jammers..) after that when enemy uses these jammers against your radars, the radars become useless as they cant see/track targets..

The F-14's that Iran bought did not have the same radar system as the ones used by the US Navy. They were sold a downgraded model. I also believe that they had a different jet engine installed since they didn't need to operate their fighters off of a carrier.

This really is not the truht?

This is just propaganda by west trying to play IIRAF down as potent force.

But IIRAF used the F-14s mostly as 'mini-awacs'.. guiding F-4/5s.

Here about IIRAF F-14 victories:
www.acig.org...

Those maked with green are confirmed.

And at back in the 80s when USSR got these F-14s they were best US navy fighters around.

And also IIRAF tomcat had only its AIM-54 little downgraded.. but not the radar.. it was the same potent AWG-9 as in US machines.

I CONFIRM IT!

The pic with the Mig-25 is photoshopped. I have the exact same Mig-25 picture in a book. Either it is faked or it is added.

Captured or bought Migs are usually given F- designations, can't think of any offhand right now. Say, like F-25.

I think that F-113 is actually a MiG-23 as used by USAF..
