Roughly 70% of Americans want the Biden administration to push Ukraine toward a negotiated peace with Russia as soon as possible, according to a new survey from the Harris Poll and the Quincy Institute, which publishes Responsible Statecraft.
Support for negotiations remained high when respondents were told such a move would include compromises by all parties, with two out of three respondents saying the U.S. should still pursue talks despite potential downsides. The survey shows a nine-point jump from a poll in late 2022 that surveyed likely voters. In that poll, 57% of respondents said they backed talks that would involve compromises.
The new data suggests that U.S. government policy toward the Ukraine war is increasingly out of step with public opinion on the eve of the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

That would be a good goal.
But Putin is the one who gets to decide that, I'm afraid. And he isn't going to do that. He's already lost too much to cut and run now.
He will eventually, but it's way too early.

President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Russia would be prepared to talk to Ukraine, the United States and Europe about the future of Ukraine if they wanted to[ with Moscow prepared to defend its national interest
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday publicly showed the draft of the peace treaty signed by the two countries in Istanbul during the initial phase of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, according to media reports.During a meeting with the African Union leaders spearheaded by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at St. Petersberg's Konstantinovsky Palace, Putin accused Ukraine of signing a peace treaty with Moscow earlier, claiming that Kyiv later threw it into the 'garbage of history', Hindustan Times reported. Several other nations including Senegal, Egypt, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Congo Republic, and the Comoro Islands also attended the meeting with Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart

You want Ukraine to win?
Have the US and all or the EU and NATO stand up and say, "If you don't leave now, you will be destroyed".
Russia will leave.
But we have to prolong the war with billions of US tax dollars because our president is a pussy.

Great news after all and in line with common sense and rational thinking because the war in Ukraine has come at a great human cost with tens of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians who have died in a senseless conflict.
This thread is a follow up of another thread I made discussing what currently happens in Ukraine where thousands of young Ukrainian men refuse to enlist to the army because they don't want to die for nothing. I am sure many young Russians will be thinking exactly the same way.
The poll answers the arguments made by a few posters in other threads who argue for the prolongation of the war by completely disregarding the human cost and the fact that Ukraine cannot win this war and the sooner the war finishes the better it would be for everyone. I have said on a number of occasions that the West must not use this as a proxy war against Russia but rather intervene to stop the conflict. Contrary to the online propaganda most people (not only Americans) will like to see the end of this war through diplomacy and talks between all sides.
- Six in 10 Americans favor providing both economic assistance to Ukraine and sending additional arms and military supplies to the Ukrainian government (58% each).
- Majorities of Democrats (75%) and Independents (54%) favor providing military aid to Ukraine, which a majority of Republicans (53%) oppose.
- Similarly, majorities of Democrats (78%) and Independents (54%) support providing economic assistance to Ukraine, while Republicans are opposed (58%).
- Seven in 10 Americans (69%), including majorities across party lines, favor the United States supporting Ukraine’s admission to NATO.
- A majority of Americans (60%) say that the US security relationship with Ukraine does more to strengthen US national security than it does to weaken it.

We would all like to see an end to this war but giving Putin what he wants won't deliver us that.
Sad to see Americans advocating surrender.
