I was commenting the sentence about the "plan that will send the world into complete and total domination", so no, I don't think the US being under some kind of domination will mean the whole world will be.

In fact, we just have to look at the US politics, economy and social situation to see the rest of the world is not the same.

Actually I agree with your point here. But, probably the massive traffic also is part of the circus.

I know this is a conspiracy site and all, but it makes sense for closings. In my area, i will be in 90% totality and thats good enough for me. 100% is a 15-20 minute drive away and i am staying off the roads. The amount of hype for this and with "experts" and the news hyping up totality and how its must see, means there is gonna be some extreme traffic issues.

I remember a year when a hurricane was approaching and many drivers were stranded on the highway trying to go inland and many people had been trying to get gas from the stations and people were so mean and would drive up in front of other people at the lines in the stations.

There have been 14 total eclipses in the 21st Century so far. Not once was anything like this expressed. Not once.

The only "odd" part is that the entire US will be dark based on the path.

This is my main point (as the OP), but people still her trolling and shilling about how it's just a crazy conspiracy theory (on ATS, at that!).

Yeah, some of the things being done make sense on a regional level. There will likely be traffic congestion due to idiot drivers coming to affected areas; but as I've said elsewhere, we get heavy traffic in many parts of the country on certain holidays.

Yeah, communication systems may be overwhelmed for a while.

Stocking up with two weeks of food and water?

States of emergency declared with deployment of military in multiple municipalities, counties and sates?

Officials saying things like, "I'm scared as hell?"

You'd think that this is the first eclipse to ever happen and they think that a dragon is going to eat the sun.

The totality just doesn't make sense to me.

If you're that close, it would be pretty easy for you to go see totality. A lot of people think "oh 97% is close enough" but really 97% doesn't look much different than 80%. The difference between 97% and total is enormous though. It's quite a sight.

I'm sure you're right. I did actually see a total eclipse once when I was 8 or 9 years old. It was pretty amazing.

But as far as this one is concerned, I'm actively disinterested.

It's not worth trying to drive 45 minutes each way with all the other gawkers clogging the roads.

In my location I will also be seeing a partial, 90% totality and the half hour drive to see 100% totality is not worth it IMO as they have already put out the word that some major arteries leading into the city will be closed.
