It's not just the US invoking these sanctions. Other countries are involved too.

So, again...
Wouldn't these additional sanctions have been more useful at the BEGINNING of the invasion?
Two years in...they might've had a possible cumulative impact by now.

Don't let me get in the way of your Biden bashing then.

As I understand it these are targeted sanctions that are mainly individuals and companies that have helped the Russian invasion.

In the absence of a crystal ball it would gave been impossible to implement these 2 years ago.

You've never been in my way.
You've also chosen to run away from my question to you...Twice.

Run away?

Get over yourself.

I really can't be bothered. You are way too partisan.

Odd. With all the "Russia Russia Bad" we keep hearing, now all it takes is one incident like this to trigger all these new massive sanctions!!

In other words, Biden Admin doesn't think Russia's behavior BEFORE this, was bad enough??

So all the war damage and killing wasn't enough either??

Confusing 😃

Who's making these "decisions" anyway??

What took Biden so long?
It's been, what, two years since the invasion?

This was my reaction too. What sanctions are there left to put on and why weren't they already in place?

This just reinforces to our enemies that we have weak leaders. 2 years into an invasion, accusations of war crimes and everything else, and our leaders still haven't had the balls to go full throttle on sanctions? And our enemies are supposed to believe Biden and the rest of the West's empty suits would have the balls for a kinetic response if it became necessary?

It's almost as it the Biden administration has been nurturing this conflict...rather than trying to end it.

The United States on Friday unleashed its most extensive package of sanctions on Russia since the invasion of Ukraine two years ago, targeting Russia’s financial sector and military-industrial complex in a broad effort to degrade the Kremlin’s war machine.

The Biden administration, responding to the death of Aleksei A. Navalny, unveiled its largest sanctions package to date as the war in Ukraine enters its third year.

U.S. Imposes Major New Sanctions on Russia, Targeting Finance and Defense

We've been talking about this in multiple threads here on ATS.

It seems the Biden administration actually did something about Navalny's death. Now we'll see what effect - if any, it will have on Russia and the rest of the world.

So did Trump. Trump compared himself to Navalny. Last month he compared himself to Jesus, if I remember correctly.

I think he's running out of martyrs to compare himself to.

Your anal retention seems to know on bounds! No matter what the subject your inability to focus on any topic without viewing it through your TDS is astounding!

Russia-sanctions-Biden=topic, and Biden's handlers probably wouldn't have placed any sanctions if it wasn't an election year. Three years of showing us how weak he is as a POTUS makes his new 'tough guy' persona laughable, at best.

He added sanctions in 2022.

Was that an election year?

Actually it was and important mid term election year. 😃

Meanwhile, the US is still trying to get its hands on an Australian journalist for exposing US war crimes almost two decades ago. Guantanamo Bay proves that the US doesn't have a problem torturing and killing people they don't like.

The US wouldn't care two whits about Navalny if we weren't trying to promote "Russia Bad" and "helping Ukraine is more important than helping Americans."

Yeah, and somebody needs to look at why Russian natural gas is still flowing through Ukraine?? Money must be changing hands? ODD.

(Oct 2023) Russian Gas Transit through Ukraine
❗️

Despite the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine that began in February 2022, Russian gas transit to Europe through Ukraine continues to this day at a rate of 35–40 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d). Although the volumes have been reduced to around a third of their pre-war levels, the mere existence of these transit flows during the war defies expectations, especially in light of the sharp curtailment of Russian gas deliveries to Europe across the board—and the complete halt of shipments through the Nord Stream and Yamal corridors since 2022.

The US is far from perfect, but seriously # Assange and this myth that he's ONLY being prosecuted for exposing war crimes. He's not a hero. He willy-nilly dumped a #ton of classified documents, en masse, that happened to include some evidence of crimes, but most of which had nothing to do with anything illegal.

That's factually not a whistleblower, by definition. That's a criminal.

Every two years is an election year for Senate and the House. 400ish house seats and 30ish Senates seats were voted on in 2022.

If you include any election then every year is an election year.

Kind of negates the posters claim that it was only done as an election year.

LOL, it solidifies it, even your admission does that.

What that he only introduced sanctions because its an election year.

However every year is an election year.

Can you see the possible issue with that hypothesis?

Federal elections are every year? President is every four years, Senate is six and the house is every two years. All fall on even years, so how is that every year?

I didn't say federal.

If you saying he doesn't care about gubernatorial state elections then the fact the US also introduced new sanctions in 2023 also goes against the original assertion.

It solidifies nothing besides the poster used something that can be used in any event.
This happened often.
Means nothing

did he introduce the sanctions in an election year as stated? that was the comment. it's either true or it's not. You already seemed to agree that it was an election year. It's either black or white, there is no grey.
