It might be the soaring high cost of rental units, some are going up 10 to 20 percent these days. Is it once again greed within capitalism?

We don’t want or need your communism , that’s why you’re here . It makes sense now . You are full on for a one world totalitarian government. It didn’t work for China or Russia or Italy or Germany . You would of been very high up in those governments , do you get what I’m saying about you ? Do you see what you embody in your life ? Is what you’re getting worth it ?

We hate America too but we hate our fascist leaders that have sold us out to China . What you hate about America is freedom , that’s why you side with the globalists . You are fighting for the evil side . Communism and fascism and Marxism and socialism are not good for the 99.999 percent . I’m ashamed you have a membership here

A very good contribution to the topic.
Maybe try and give something that actually helps?
Honestly I didn't help by giving a solution because I don't want to get banned, but what you just did IS part of the problem.

Small businesses run on narrow margins

With inflation and increased minimum wages many are not finding it profitable

it goes that way when the corporates are cleared out, the easy one to demonstrate was in the demise of ToyRUs I saw a myriad of small toy shops rise to fill the space left by that corporate giant..

the corporate push for a single identity and universal consumer is imploding and its opening the doors for local identities to re-emerge its worse that the 70/80s shift from tankies to neolibs as its more in tune with the fall out from the first great depression in the late 1800s.

north American and the west in general has more in common with later stage Victorian dark England and not just opiate abuse, poverty, war and violence.. the only way the west can survive is by going small, local and decentralising.. the true backbone of all western countries are its middle class small local businesses not its billionaires and corporations.

Then the question arises, for me anyway, is it wise to start up a business dependent upon only one type of product or service especially in a brick and mortar scenario. Wouldn't it be wiser to diversity with products and services?

if you are good at something you a stick to that a plumber might not be the best baker of cakes or dressmaker. small businesses tend to be just that samm and very specific a toy shop should just sell toys.

I was taught (as an example) if you want to start a shoe shop and want your biz to succeed you place yourself with other shoe shops as the more together will attract a greater selection of people looking for shoes rather than be a niche shop in the middle of no where if its kinky boots then go where the sex shops are and the purchasers of such things, in that vein shh a womens erotic emporium set up in Shoreditch where there main market will be.. ie open/weird/creative women who'd never go near the seedy porn of soho..

even the most specialised store with the smallest market will have a natural bricks and mortar home, the hard part is finding that natural home to thrive in..

the issues we have is the do it mega corporates grip on markets. The damage toyrus did to independent toy shops was very real but toyrus was never a true toy shop it just held what stock it brought in cheaply, never the full ranges you'd find in specialised toy stores..

that last part could be seen as a key difference with the corporates as they never have a loyal customer base nor are they loyal to customers we can see that in terms of how effective the boycotts are now..

corporates run on even more narrow margins, i used to work for American corporates for 30 years covering multi million product item revenue streams.. its why them p*ssing off their customer base is really weird, not even as a loss leader does it make sense..

I welcome the rise of the mom and pops in the wake of the corporate madness we see, i can't help but think we're at the end point where the east India sized corporates start to implode as they always do..

Small business's have always had a high failure rate.
Since Covid when restaurants had to close, or suppliers to larger companies tanked from not only forced closures but the double whammy of the logistic chains collapsing.

It's easy to suppose younger people are lazy but the truth is more along the lines that they haven't been exposed to the hard information needed to succeed in business. While post-covid the rules have changed drastically, core principals haven't. @ 13:55 Mastery of a skill starts followed by where the younger generation is getting stuck. This particular interview is one I'll be parking my Grandson in front of (hog-tied or not, his choice) until he grasps the hard concepts an has read at least one of the books authored.

Everything I post is to reiterate that the existing economy, trickle down, has never and will never work for the middle and lower classes and if you or anyone else here think capitalism is the only way to go, then I have other descriptive words I can use and it won't be geared towards political ideologies. Every political ideology has its problems and none of them work, so what is needed is a new way of doing things and I think Biden's ideology; from the middle out and from the bottom up, and taxing the very wealthy corporations/elite is the way to go.

And by the way, stay on topic, you are getting annoying with your going after the player and not the ball.

I wonder if the solution is to start your business in your own home and get tax credits from the government, such as how some catering companies operate. I recall many decades ago a woman would come into our offices with a basketful of home baked goods to sell and not only was she allowed access into our offices, but she sold quite a few. Although now that I think about it, maybe she knew somebody and that's how she got her foot in the door.

Governments needs to breathe some life back into small entrepreneur endeavors and using one's existing living space could be the key to business success vs. failure. Just a thought.

An observation: I follow on FB the communities I live, work and shop in and it's amazing to me how many people actually do offer goods and services from their homes. It's a whole other underground community network as well as some bartering going on.

I have been positioning myself to integrate into the "underground community" you speak of. I have been producing black-market products and growing cash crops for things like, tobacco, cannabis, beer, wine, and spirits. I can produce smoking or chewing tobacco, both menthol and regular, make beer from hops and barley I grow, make wine from wild or domestic berries, and grain alcohol from grain I would have to acquire.

I have been practicing other skills as well like producing maple syrup and sugar, smoking meats, tanning hides, even panning for gold. I need to try some trapping and do more small-game hunting though. There are some methods for fishing that I never tried, but the DNR says I can't do those legally in Michigan.

Raising taxes on the wealthy is part of what has put small businesses out of business.

That and leftist policies that encourage crimes and insurance companies no longer insure.

We’re seeing it happen here in Portland.

Excellent! I would love to have my own patch of sugar maples and tap them, although it is a lot of hard work without the right equipment as a coworker's husband complains often.

I am thinking of creating artwork and selling it online but there are a lot of kinks to work out and how to integrate 40 years of varying types of arts and crafts into unique finds.

With artwork as well, the underground community artists also post their pieces on community pages and also attend the community festivals , farmer's markets and such. Maybe you should think about attending those types of festivals as an extra outlet for sales. Who knows maybe an existing brick and mortar store may want to stock your wares...networking is key.

It's hard for me to understand if you're talking about the whole world, Japan, America or 'western' countries.

How is it in Japan exactly? Does Japan have 4 million illegal immigrants??? Are banks closing in Japan? I'm curious. In fact I'd like to hear how other countries are doing from the mouths of ATS members who are in the know.

In every case, "getting out of America" will only delay what is to come.
As for the stores....

Even some smaller brick and morter stores are going online with delivery.
Clearly, if you are able to sit at home in safety, order what you need and have it delivered to your door, isn't that the most expediant way to obtain what you need? But some thieves may even follow home the delivery person and rob them or you there.

Even groceries such as milk and bread, your drugs, and even clothing? Soon you will buy it all online.

As stores are continually loosing money through theft, and people are injured this may become the only way to for the stores to survive.

As far as items such as diamonds and watches, you will soon have to make an appointment. You cannot deliver those things safely since someone may follow the delivery to your home and rob there. So safety will be the most imporntant thing in the future.

I fear the days of Walmart shopping will soon be over and replaced with delivery. The stores would rather you be in danger than them? Then more jobs will be lost and the stores will make even more money...and for sure their costs will be lower through less insurance premiums for losses etc

How much money should the rich be allowed to keep while not contributing their share, while they make use of all of what society offers them?

Chicago is a perfect example of leftist policies in action.

They now want state-run stores.

Nothing happens by accident.
