Huge cyberattack disables telescopes in Hawaii and Chile

Ten telescopes have been impacted for over two weeks now, with on-site operatives able to keep some operational, albeit less efficiently. The shutdowns are causing chaos in the astronomy sphere, with many essential windows of opportunity being missed for space observations.

The attack was reported on 1st of August and the problem doesn't seem to have been resolved yet. A week later the Maui wildfires started. 5 years ago the Maui based Pan-STARRS telescope at Haleakalā Observatory discovered Oumuamua, the first interstellar traveller witnessed to enter our solar system. Oumuamua means "messenger from afar arriving first.” There was and still is much speculation that it could be an alien space ship.

14 August Arecibo observatory finally shut down for good. It was damaged in 2020 beyond repair after a cable snapped that was supposed to last at least another 15 to 20 years link

Already earlier in 2020: COVID-19 forces Earth’s largest telescopes to close

almost complete shutdown of observational astronomy.

In 2018 the Sunspot Solar Observatory in New Mexico was raided by the FBI and shut down for 10 days supposedly because a janitor used the internet connection for downloading and sharing kiddie porn.

October 19, 2017 Oumuamua discovered by Maui based Pan-STARRS telescope

This starts looking a bit like a pattern, doesn't it? I suspect some connection to the UFOUAP disclosure/psyop, especially with the 2027 contact narrative in mind.

I suspect lack of funding and resources as being, primarily, to blame.

Buckle up folks,this is it!

The alien fleet is incoming, and the telescopes have been taken down by alien human hybrids to hide the fleets approach.
Invasion is imminent!

Why would there be a sudden lack of funding and resources? Observatories are operated by academia and government.

Doesn't make sense, but I support coincidence might explain it. Or they are hiding something. How long until amateur astronomers have the 'seeing' ability of the larger observatories I know they find many comets and other interesting objects.

Puzzling.

OP, who do you think is sabotaging or hacking these systems?

What nations have the capability and have shown a strong inclination to do so, having done so many times over the years?

My bets would be, in this order: Russia - North Korea - China - Iran

But, are they really being hacked or sabotaged? Could it be some systems maintenance coordinated every so often?

The most likely scenario? Something to do with geopolitics. It could be as simple as the players you named trying to add to the general feeling that the West has passed its zenith. But I think there's more to it. There is a very obvious effort mainly by the US to drive the UFO/UAP narrative. I don't think it only serves just as a distraction but that is certainly a welcome side effect. It leads up to something. Again most probably to do with geopolitics as we seem to be headed for a much larger conflict than Ukraine.

UFOUAP could be a workaround for introducing black projects technologies into a war without getting bogged down by legal matters, explaining the hidden finance aspects. Also convenient to point at aliens/demons when the use of certain weapons will cause casualties and suffering on an unprecedented scale.

That doesn't mean I discount scenarios involving actual aliens, breakaway civilizations, prophecy and many other things. I just think they are less likely.

I have to admit that my first thought was,

It’s pronounced Lizzid People.

And what do you know, ATS got a small cameo in this weeks very on topic episode!

Thanks for replying, but it still doesn't make any sense to me.

Why would hacking some observatories topple the west or add to the general feeling that the west is falling or anything? Like you said, no one even heard about this. It's literally not a target anybody cares about or hears about. Many other systems more essential that could be sabotaged. Sabotage or hacking these things makes no sense to me, from any angle I look at it.

As to the US 'pushing' the UFO narrative... not true, the US is not pushing any narrative, the government is still resisting releasing information, the legislators and military are still calling it all bogus. Our government has not disclosed or admitted to anything, unfortunately. There are always a handful of people fighting for more information, but no one today as vigilant as Harry Reid was.

Are the people vocal about it? Heck yes. But the government isn't taking us very seriously yet.

ETA: Not only that, but back on your original post, connecting a decommissioning of an ancient observatory that's been falling apart to a raid on a janitor in another one is just such a stretch. And a connection you never go into or explain.

What has observing space, the universe provided us with outside a few pretty pictures, string theory and dark matter
I don’t think it makes money

As for the alien thing , plenty of individual self funded observers scanning the remoteness

Arecibo failed because someone screwed up and didn't splay the strands of cable correctly before pouring the molten zinc in the can at the end of the cable.

Seeing a spaceship from a wide field telescope from earth is the least effective way to see near earth orbit objects.
Do you understand how large earth telescopes function ?

Who has the advantage in reducing public scanning of interstellar space? There are a lot of great private and independent land based telescopes turning up. Resolution on goes so far in getting a clear picture through the atmosphere. Space based telescopes are in a much better position to get a clearer picture.

As for sabotage capability, some reports of nuclear facilities getting messed around with by UFO's. Entrainment by a more advanced species is another possibility for some human screw ups.

i know, I was just, what? more than once on this thread. This one and the one back there where 'telescopes don't make money' and we dont get much out of them.

Didn't people looking at the sky with telescopes detect Oumuamua?
