Evangelicals Rejecting Jesus Teachings as Being Too Liberal

Evangelicans are rejecting "Liberal" teachings of Jesus

Another sign of the End Times.

As a Christian myself, I'm confused.

I walk the Path of Peace and Charity, Tolerance and Love.

It is not my path to make myself The Hand of God or to carry out his Judgement.

Maybe it's not my calling to be a Fierce Warrior.

I'm a little worried, because if it is the End Times and Judgement Day coming to fruition, why are they only going after the groups they don't like and letting the strong and greedy have their way with the Nation?

I'm not saying we aren't seeing a rise in violence, bad behavior and perversions, but I don't think these people are going to eradicate the wicked, I just think they'r going to go after and target the people and groups they don't like, and that flies in the face of everything I was raised to believe and fight for.

Where is this leading us?

Is anyone else concerned?

Is this the work and subtle hand of the Antichrist stirringup dissent and creating chaos and strife?

Survival of the fittest?

Is this a good thing or a bad thing, or something that we are fated to endure as part of the plan?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Interesting article. I'm still trying to figure out how Trump has become more powerful than Jesus in Evangelical circles, because Jesus is more liberal than Trump. Or maybe it's the other way around?

We can always look to peacefully fix civilization as a personal responsibility and idea, but forget not, that idea is vanity, we will fulfill every measure of stupid before our spirit, soul or this world will be made whole, all the predictable variances and deviations must manifest evil will feel perfected before attempting to overthrow truth. Certainly one can be a fierce warrior without it being involved in God or Trump.

I'm not a Christian so this life in this World is as good as it's going to be for me.

Christians, on the other hand, look forward to an eternity of peace in some blessed way.

A couple of verses come to mind, John 18:36 and Matthew 26:50-53 and might as well throw in Philippians 3:

17Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you. 18For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things.

20But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.

Okay, that seems to fit.
So I, "enemy of the cross", have my mind on earthly things. Believers though, think of other things, more fruits of the spirit now and glory to come.

I confess that I spent decades not just calling myself a Christian, but actually believing it to be so. I was a hypocrite (aka role player) without even realizing it.

Now my suspicion is that many who think themselves Christian may also be role-players. As such, earthly-minded hypocrites, would gladly assume the role of world power broker, or at the least, foot soldiers of the worldly power brokers. Therefore they will gladly fight to the death to secure a Christian dominant society, or endorse those fighters.

I just think they'r going to go after and target the people and groups they don't like, and that flies in the face of everything I was raised to believe and fight for.

Targeting easily identified weaker targets is called scapegoating.

They are wrong as there is nothing liberal about Christ. He is as severe as any of the OT prophets and even more severe.

What is liberal about this:

Matthew 10:34: “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Luke 12:5: "....fear the One who, after He has killed has authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, fear Him."

Matthew 5:29: "....it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into Gehenna."

Matthew 24: 21 -22: For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now-and never to be equaled again. 22 "If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

After this read ALL of Revelation. It is a horror story for the whole human race that is manifesting in full force as I write. Read Revelation to see how much of the earth the Angels are destroying and will destroy.

That is from the Angel telling John who Christ will be when He returns. Do you believe your hippy heart or do you believe John and the Angel?

In your thread how often did you even bother to quote Christ or His people? How many times have I done it? Who is being true to THE WORD and who is being true to their own timidity and own version as if they are their own Christ?

I have had my share of spiritual battles with forces I cannot claim to understand, and I have been at the mercy of very sadistic entities over the years, I won't get into the specifics, but there is nothing worse than feeling abandoned by God for me.

I just want to understand and hopefully one day see peac eon earth for all peaceful peoples and cultures, and end to war and poverty and an end to suffering.

I will not deny that I desire very much the promise of Heaven on Earth and the Kingdom Restored, and I see signs of such a world every day, people of various faiths and backgrounds all living peacefully and working together for a common shared goal.

That to me is Heaven. One doesn't need to be Christian exclusively, because God created All of Us.

Sometimes I dissociate from the news online, the trial and struggle in the world, the violence the war, the suffering and poverty because I don't neccecarily experience it in my own world as severely as others.

I look after the homeless, but I'm living subpoverty on disability benefits and rarely have material gains to help or assist as I'm barely making ends meet myself, but I try to be nice and helpful whenever possible. There are a lot of other groups in the area with more resources who step in where I cannot.

I am also aware of a great wickedness in the world right now, and I'm powerless against it.

Would I like to see these abuses purged?

Of course.

I would love and America where everyone had food and shelter, healthcare and the right to life.

I'm fighting for it, and am frequently called a socialist because of it.

But I digress and that's neither here nor there.

I have friends who would fall under the category of "subversives" but they are still learning who they are, I have friends who are gay, bisexual, transgender, wiccan, pagan, satanists, but they are kind and community oriented and many of them have told me how there are members of the community who just walk up to them and tell them they are goign to hell for who they are, or how they look.

I want no part of that kind of heaven.

I just worry because a lot of people these days professing loudly about their Christian Values hold anything but, and do no good works, instead squander their good fortune and worldly blessings and excess on their own self indulgence who seem they'd be more inclined to "wipe out" and exterminate anyone who didn't fit their aesthetic or worldview, or whom was percieved to be a drain on resources.

I grew up in that world, and I know how closeminded and ruthless these folks can be when they decide they've had enough.

I am as Jewish as Christ has educated me to be. I am not the one to measure that. I call it Passover and not Easter because I am not a Catholic. I don't celebrate Chrtistmas as the Apostles never told me to do that. Saturday is Shabbat if any day is as the Apostles never told me to change the day of Shabbat.

I am a very creative Christian. I am doing it like Daniel because I do not trust the Churches in the UK as all the established ones are either corrupt at the top or serving masters who are not Christ. That is the way it is so I have had to adapt. I have to be like Daniel was in Babylon if I want to stay true and not let THE WORD be sabotaged by child abusers and deviants.

I can't make too many replies as I am really not liked here and it can start to become bullying. There are some really nasty people with great prejudices here. I am not prejudiced like them. I love black people and gay people. I am not the Judge of what is to be allowed on earth and what not. I can only do that for myself. This is a quick hit. I already know that you are all way passed listening to another human being except your own hearts. You will not trust anyone now as they have made you like that deliberately. Satan has made us all distrustful. The only One I trust is Jesus Christ.

Most Christians believe they will go to heaven when they die. It is a pagan thing to believe that. Neither the Jewish or Christian Scripture says that. It says we go to sleep when we die and that all people good and bad will be raised on the last day in preparation for a new Earth and Jerusalem. Did He not say BLINKING OF AN EYE and RESURRECTION on a NEW EARTH with a NEW JERUSALEM? Or did He say happy hunting grounds in the sky? Did He not say He would return with 144,000 of the first Resurrection and then after a thousand years there would be a second Resurrection of everybody else. It is very specific. If you don't believe the Word then you are gnostic. Her doesn't want you if you are gnostic.

It is RESURRECTION not Egyptian or Native American happy hunting grounds. If you believe outside of the Gospel and Scripture you are gnostic. You become tepid and Christ says He will spit you out in Revelation, does He not? Look it up for yourself. I am done with any more references today.

I am pure Christian and that happens to be very Jewish in part as Christ was Jewish and so were ALL of His Apostles. Look that up too. Just look up the whole Bible while you are at it. Read it twice for emphasis like Richard Burton married Liz Taylor and you will be better furnished as one who can see ther wood as well as the trees to debate Scripture.

I don't know, I can't find it, yet this is what some sects preach and belive.

There has been many abuses over the generations by those who serve the Church, and many that continue to do so, in varied sects.

I havew trouble going to church to meditate and reflect on the peace of Christ and to be in God's presense.

Last time I went I had to leave because there were elements at play in a sacred space that were anything but holy and I kept feeling anger rise up in me. I was tempted to lash out and flip tables because I viewed it as blashphemous and an intrusion on sacred space.

I left before my rage got the better of me, went to a local dive bar, had a beer and cigarette on the patio and felt Christs peace wash over me in the most unlikely of places.

Something is ramping up, and many places have become corrupted.

No church is perfect, because men are imperfect and subject to their own flaw and sin.

I just miss being able to sit in Sanctuary in silence and meditate on God's Peace.

Too many pointless rituals and distractions.

Many people who claim Christ are not
Jesus taught to love and change ourselves, not change the world
Jesus didn’t get active in politics and loved sinners, was kind and patient with everyone (except the religious)
Find a better church where people love and care for each other
And I do believe, a local bar probably offers more love and companionship than most churches

The Sermon Undelivered

Once upon a time, in an inhabited valley, there was a soup kitchen. The soup kitchen attempted to alleviate the needs of the poorer inhabitants of the valley.

A group of local faith-based congregations set up a rotating schedule to act as hosts for a meal. For some reason the hosts were expected to provide some sort of inspirational message in addition to food.

In the course of days, the honour of host fell to one of the Christian congregations. This congregation had an elder, we'll call him Elder P. Elder P was not known to be a particularly good cook, so the cooks picked him to provide the inspirational message.

He spent a whole week working up a 10 minute sermon from Exodus 32. That's a bit of summarizing there, but main focus on verse 30.

The big day came and the tables were covered with a very mouth watering assortment of very good smelling dishes. The tables were right there, within easy view of the ten or so hungry people sitting in folding chairs.

Elder P only spoke for about 20 seconds before noticing that the audience displayed no interest in his sermon. So he stopped. It took another 10 seconds for the members of the audience to notice and look up inquiringly.

"How many of you would like to skip this talk of mine and get to the food?" asked Elder P.

After a bit of puzzled glances from one audience member to another, one finally raised his hand, quickly followed by the rest.

"Well all right then, let's get to that food."

Elder P. reasoned in his thoughts, "It says 'give to those who ask', not 'lecture those who ask'".

I used to feel very uncomfortable when people would say to me "God bless you" because I assumed that I knew what they meant by God. But I gradually came to realize that I don't know what they mean. I'm polytheist by necessity now because people have different, often extremely contradictory, understandings of God unique to themselves. That's a lot of Gods.

So now I just accept the blessing from whichever God it is and say "Thank You".

The S(poken) Word is one interpretation.

There are lots of ways to fight and battle grounds going on these days. Not all are physical with a lot of intellectual and emotional conflicts also going on. In some ways the pen can be mightier than the sword.

You seem to think I'm a part of a group.

You are part of group that can read and write in the English language. You also also a group of atoms and molecules doing lots of crazy stuff to keep you alive. As for what other connections, seams independent. I have had a few passionate debates and discussions on these boards at times. It has helped take me deeper into understanding the situation and deny ignorance. It does suck having to eat that humble pie at times, but it has helped in getting a clearer picture of how it all works. One thing that helps form the group ATS is about.

As for these Evangelicals using the term Liberal to describe Jesus will give those atheist in the Democratic party something to think about.
