1:58 video of:

The German Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck: 'Bakeries, craft businesses, cleaning companies.... they can just stop producing this year, but they don't go insolvent. They don't work into the red.'

He is saying all these small businesses can just stop producing anymore. Stop working. Somehow not declare bankruptcy. Clearly he hasn’t thought it all through.

Looks like Germany is screwed.

An odd statement by a figure in government.

Cheers

I think we've reached the point where this question needs to be asked:

At what point do we decide that a government has officially failed? Because if Germany isn't there yet, its damn close.

The Minister of Economics doesn’t actually understand basic economics?
Or he is trying blow smoke up the ass of the person doing the interview…. and they aren’t buying it.

It sounds more like he knows the economy is screwed for various reasons and doesn’t know how businesses are going to cope or what they are going to do.

the problem for Germany and the EU is its the lender of last resort which has driven it to the cheapest energy source and in part created the issues we see today.. its a nasty cycle as at some point Germany has to say no more and without the UK France can't fill Germanys shoes as the EUs economic backstop which leaves Bidens Democrats as the EU economic backstop..

what a tangled web, or house of cards ripe for the fall..

Looks like the great reset will claim Germany along with Canada and Australia (and Sri Lanka), first.

Germany should have never gone for the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia which is what is crippling them. Germany will only fail if the car industry fails as they're the worlds autodealers.

You really love your doom porn "great reset" dont you.

How is Canada and Australia doomed now?

There have been conspiracies about the Elite since Wernher von Braun and it's never come to fruition.....

Germany's foreign policy & national security advisers been MIA for a while haven't they?

Why they were sourcing Russian energy while not reading the clear warning signs was pretty amateur IMO, Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and they still went ahead with Nord Stream 2 ??? madness, its the usual liberal mistake made far to often, the notion that the world is inherently good on face value is just insanity

Not laughing now are they ?

I think perhaps its got a lot to do with the fact Germany has a large Pro Russian right & Pro Soviet tankies, and they've managed to worm in and convince or out balance Germany's common sense NatSec and foreign policy advisers to the point of self destruction

Something something a divided nation cannot stand?

They're playing through hypothetical worst case scenarios, what he's saying is that to avoid bancruptcy some non-essential businesses who lack customers because of the inflation, energy costs etc could instead close shop temporarily.
Like for two months the same concept as short time is in industry but for florists, bakeries etc.

Germany for quite a long time didn't make any debts at all but a net win and now they're in the pretty luxurious position to redistribute that win plus make new debts.
So I'm far more worried about Italy, Spain, Greece etc (all debt based economies) before Germany

More like a pro Russia left, like Wagenknecht, it seems to be Russia is where the circle is closing

Not if for that time salaries and rent get frozen.
I mean it would create a 'lack of income cascade' but if the state can bail out listed companies...

What? Winter is always coming unless it is winter.
I don't know why you as pro Russian person would celebrate Big Oil as winners of your assault on Ukraine?
And I strongly doubt anybody protests against energy.

Last week I had a conversation with my bosses (area manager and financial director), both men with a pretty good paycheck, we talked about the current crisis(is),
at one point they said that 'everyone should just stop working right away! stop what their doing, refuse to work until the government fixes everything'

At that point I thought the exact same thing: when people higher up the ladder start to think this way, means we are all screwed!
