Why is there no thread on this? The Senate Intelligence committee, in a bipartisan report, has directly contradicted the Republican branch of the House Intelligence Committee.

The Committee believes the conclusions of the ICA are sound, and notes that collection and analysis subsequent to the ICA's publication continue to reinforce its assessments. The Committee will remain vigilant in its oversight of the ongoing challenges presented by foreign nations attempting to secretly influence U.S. affairs.

www.burr.senate.gov...

Meanwhile, in preparation for his meeting with Putin, Trump chews out NATO and the government does nothing to combat Russia's ongoing efforts to meddle. Why would the administration do anything? The Russians like "Republicans" like Trump. Do more of the same, please. We like the results.

I got this from a buddy earlier today and thought about making a thread. But I think I am done making political threads. And I am sure you know why no one has made a thread on this

Yeah, that has been known for a long time. Putin himself said he did not like Hillary Clinton, he mentioned it was in the best interest of Russia if she lost the election. Putin was not aiding Trump, he was trying to stop Hillary from winning.

I thought that was easily derived from his comments on the subject over a year and some months ago. Trump probably was not aware of this going on. We do the same kind of thing to other countries, there have not been any international laws to say that the action is illegal, our government meddles in lots of countries elections through various means. It is a form of propaganda.

Putin had to have been insanely angry at the election outcome... so much bribe money wasted on the Clintons...

The Chinese must be absolutely irate...

Putin was not aiding Trump,

The Senate Committee disagrees with you and concurs with the ICA.

The ICA states that:

We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U . S . presidential election . Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the U . S . democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President - elect Trump

www.burr.senate.gov...

Trump probably was not aware of this going on.
And he continues to say,"Putin says he didn't do anything."

Exactly.

This has been known for a long time. Putin hated Hillary. Russia has been trying to cause division in our country for decades.

This does not mean that Trump had anything to do with Russia's attempts.

I talk to about a half dozen Russian gamers on and off. Am I going to be accused of colluding? They actually seem really nice, but maybe they have some sinister plot brewing behind the scenes. I think they would laugh at this thread and Phage.

Right.

Why does Trump continue to take Putin's side? Why does the administration not denounce Russia's efforts?

Could it be because they like the results? More please. Do it some more. Undermining faith the U . S . democratic proces is good. More please.

I'm sure the Moscow meeting will go well.

One example of many:

Trump Administration Sanctions Russia for Interference in U.S. Elections

The Trump administration slapped Moscow with its first sanctions for meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign and waging unrelated cyberattacks on critical U.S. infrastructure, punishing the Kremlin’s intelligence agencies and Russians already indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Um. Ya.

I remember it well:

Has anyone actually bothered to read the IC Russian 'Hacking' Assessment?

The report is laughable.

And as I mentioned in that thread:

******************************

Now let's look at their first and primary KEY JUDGEMENT:

We also assess Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him.

All three agencies agree with this judgment.

But then it continues with:

CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has moderate confidence.

So what does high and moderate confidence mean?

Well, it turns out the report tells us in an Appendix to the Report:

So the HIGH Confidence the FBI and CIA have in their primary and most important judgment by their own words does not imply the assessment is a fact or a certainty; such judgments might be wrong.

And the definition for the NSA's MODERATE Confidence is the information is credibly sourced and plausible but NOT of sufficient quality or corroborated sufficiently to warrant a higher level of confidence.

*******************************

Hardly earth shattering.
