It’s Official – CBS Confirms That The New Star Trek TV Series Begins Production This Fall

It’s the news that fans of the franchise, be they Trekkers or Trekkies, have been waiting to hear. After promises, false starts, and a lot of conjecture, it looks like CBS’s new Star Trek TV series is finally ready to begin production. In a Tweet that appeared on the network’s social media feed, the announcement was plain and simple:

This just in! The new #STARTREK TV series will set course for Toronto and begin filming this fall. #CBSAllAccess

I've barely watched any Star Trek Enterprise. I need to watch all that first.

Binge watching, anyone?

Is Star Trek the one where Doctor Spock uses the Force?

Good, because I would hate to have to use the Vulcan Eye Gouge on you or whatever it's called.

Is that to stop me giving you dirt looks?

No, think of it as me doing you a favor. Every time a Redshirt saunters into a scene in this new series you will not have to roll your eyes at them getting hosed right away.

Ha Ha good one, that reminds me some 20 years ago I was at a Trekkie convention and W. Shatner told us a couple of practical jokes he played on L. Nimoy when he got divorced... on one he got a group of people wait for Nimoy to appear somewhere and scream "Don't get divorced Spock" Hillarious!!!

By Grabthar's Hammer, I will get revenge for that remark.

I hate what Star Trek and Star Wars have done to the sci/fi genre. Well, maybe not so much what they have done, but rather their popularity. So many young authors are, rather than using their imaginations to create new universes and truely speculate on possible futures based on the expanding nature of modern science, they are forming their writing processes into already explored venues. Go to a sci fi book shelf and half the shelves are filled with the two of them.

No, for me neither are any longer science fiction but rather afternoon soap opera with special effects. I say bosh to both franchises and lets take all that money that goes into rephrasing the same old hack into newer and fresher concepts of humaities future.

And from what I've read -- CBS will only be broadcasting the first few episodes to get people hooked, and then expect US viewers to purchase a CBS streaming service for like $5.99 a month to watch the rest of the episodes.

Oh, and rumor has it that it won't take place on a ship named "Enterprise".

I saw parts of the leaked pilot screen play, it's called the USS Franchise Milker.
