i agree china is out of order,its no where near their land and they have no right over it,but my deep down thoughts in all
this is there seems to be a lot of country's gearing up for war,
almost like our imperial overlords are preparing for a population cull in many time zones,
but i dont think the people will be the sheep /lemmings of previous generations when state controlled media was running the show

Unfortunately China needs to back down or there will be war. War now is better than war later after they have further caught up to our military.

No war is of course best, where China makes a good neighbor.

Why is China wanting to expand its areas and show dominance over others? In the times of hypersonic tools, there is no need for building expensive island airports etc.

China should focus more on internal matters rather than trying to bully small nations in the region.

China is doing what Russia is doing. Internal issues are present so russia and china create an external "threat" to divert attention. Chinas internal issue are serious and china is desperately trying to keep it clamped down so it does not spread. Link that to Chinas economic issue, with their growth now down to 7% from past double digit gains.

We saw iran do the same during their protests.. they are doing it now as well..

China is expansionist minded, Russia is not. That's because China is still living under a solid dose of communist leadership in power.

Russia is merely protecting its interests from external threats.

However, if China and US get into a fist fight, then Russia will have to helps its Chinese pals and end result would be "we are all screwed" over the stupid idea of airport strips in the middle of ocean.

It's a lot more than that. There are huge resource deposits under those islands they're building. Whoever controls the area is set for years as far as resources go.

No, its about control of the entire area, and the resources the area contains. It's a huge amount of money they are trying to steal from their neighbors. The airstrip itself only matters so much as it allows them more control of the resources/land/sea.

China is a world cooperative, they make majority of the things you use daily. They aren't meddling too much in other countries as extreme as US.

Nice downplay, if China stopped making product for US, you wouldn't be bitching about a tiny piece of land.

Philippines was once an American territory. If Hawaii really wanted to it could have left American control.

Last I checked we did not create artificial islands around Hawaii to steal it's resources. Nor in Alaska.

In any case, relating the global politics of more than 100 years ago to those of today is pretty pointless.

But it did vote to become a State. Just recently PR had a vote and if they wanted independence it would have been granted. It may have been sordid 100 years ago, but the recent history of HI is not.

Alaska was outright purchased.
