Russia wants to ban internet memes that mock Vladimir Putin

The Russian government has banned memes that “do not represent the personality" of the celebrities they mock. Which of course has nothing to do with Vladimir Putin.

The government watchdog Roskomnadzor, said in a post on Russian social media site VKontake: “These ways of using celebrities images violate the laws governing personal data and harm the honour, dignity and business of public figures.”

I'm not actually sure if this will help Putin or just enact a massive chilling effect. Facing the truth, Putin's popularity in the west is mostly related to the person's lack of shirt, penchant for riding bears, and collection of vintage AK47s wielded whilst hand gliding. I'm not sure Putin's popularity can bounce back from this without the internet.

In honor of this, I'm totally holding a meme competition. It's completely ATS unaffiliated, may get you banned, the thread may be shut, but I'll judge the top 3 and come up with some kind of prize or something. We have to keep Putin in power.

Well, land of the free and home of democracy.

I know this is a hit piece, but its still true. LOL

Permits to hand out fliers that must be approved, outright persecution of gays, complete state owned media which is only better than western MSM in that they dont hide the fact that only state approved subjects will be allowed, assassinations of any even remotely vocal and critical of the government, lower standards than third world prisons for political prisoners, slight improvement of those conditions for all others, flagrant theft of public wealth to private hands without so much as a cover story, and on and on.

You cant even laugh at the plastic surgery addicted prick leader anymore. What a joke. This is what runs through my mind when people crap on the US or the west to prop up this backward tyrannical mess....

I dont even care if people criticize the US for valid faults. Hell, today I was looking back at an old profile of mine from 2007 and I used to be pretty much like the people who I can barely tolerate now who criticise the US and the west. LOL. I made some good points! I just hate it when criticism isnt about offering a solution or is not honest and equal /universal and especially when its only a means of propping up this crap....Russia, pfft. What ever.

So, let the truth be known and mixed in equal parts, 1 ounce western BS, 1 ounce Eastern BS. Dash of skepticism, spite and defiance, and garnish with a smile through the disgust. Serve in tall glass of solutions and unbiased honesty.

Drink up, its better than western cool aid or off brand eastern cool aid.
