I understand, texasgirl, you are the closes to ground zero right now, so all I can say is hang in there and keep an eye of the developments because is been handle despicably and as soon it starts to get too close to home do what you feel is the best in the interest of your safety and family.

hopefuly the morons that are handling the ebola outbreak in Dallas will get off their head out their rear end and high horses of bureaucracy and politics and starts to take ebola seriously before gets our of control.

My opinion, is that it is easier for CDC officials, and others, to blame the HCW infections on poor PPE usage, than to admit that nobody on the planet knows with certainty how this ebola strain is transmitted.

Noted, thank you. My opinion doesn't really matter either.

Please don't take that as an insult. I have been watching (warning about) Ebola since long before this current outbreak, participating in Doom Porn (as some detractors call it) on other threads about it. I know how it spreads and why it is so virulent.

I hope they get a handle on it, too.

Why all of a sudden does everyone say there's incompetence everywhere?

Remember how often the media and everyone was told that ebola is sooooo hard to catch? Why would anyone take any extra precautions, I mean, this isn't contagious at all right?

The calm mongering continues....

Just think about how many of the hospital workers have kids, families, who have been exposed. How many restaurants have they all gone to? How many times did they go to say, Wal-Mart, or a grocery store and touch stuff?

Yea, this is not the flu, ITS A LEVEL 4 VIRUS!!!!

Those that keep saying that other things kill more people ....yada yada yada....well this one is out there now too. And you damn well should be afraid of it, and quit telling people to be all calm and sh#! because being calm and ignoring the danger is causing the danger. We aren't even anywhere near the 21 day mark yet!

And now with more cases popping up, has that clock been reset? I would count on it. It will be like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

But you go ahead and stay all calm people...because it's not that bad right? Ebola isn't as bad as the flu, or smoking, or ...or...pfft. Sorry but the amount of ignorance I have seen almost makes me hope to god that this disease does kill off most humans and forces us to have a reset. The world is all screwed up anyways...and just....wrong. This reality is just....wrong. I'm sorry but it is. We could live on this planet in harmony and truly be happy, but we don't. We are all slaves to a few sick individuals. And if there is a god or God, or gods then letting this world be the way it is makes me want to slap him/her/it/them. Because this world is messed up people, and we all know it. Deep down inside, we all know that humanity needs a completely new system.

But go ahead and stay calm. The rich get richer, and the rest of us get screwed. So it has always been throughout history, and so it will remain, unless something does happen. Maybe, just maybe this is it....I for one am tired of waiting.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!

It makes no sense I actually thought that a place like Dallas was better prepared for ebola, taking into consideration that testing for ebola is been done in Texas labs, this people should know better, they should have know how contagious without proper procedures ebola is.

If the Hospital board of directors has really been doing their job they should never had admitted Duncan in the hospital, but call CDC and have him transfer immediately.

Is just arrogance, in my books coming from the higher ups calling the shots in that hospital.

Today's news conference

Something g is wrong with that judge. He reminds me of Foley, before he got "beheaded".

Watch that video and blink every time judge clay blinks. If it's just because he is tired why didn't he yawn. If he isn't sick, he is on drugs.

Also, why was his left ear so red?

Judge Jenkins needs to hang up his phone for awhile...or something. His left ear looks inflamed and red in this video from today's news conference.

And addressing the nightmare conditions at the hospital would also be helpful.

Well is hard to catch as the family is no showing signs and they lived with Duncan, but remember body fluids as spit, diarrhea and body sweat is what actually causes the infection, the health care workers were dealing with all that during the treatment of Duncan, so is obvious that they were no equipped with better safety gear to keep themselves safe.

PBS did a show last night about a deadly virus in Maryland hospital, it was truly an eye opener from the hospitals perspective. Am still searching for it but found this one in the meantime. My question all along has been about this being a combination of virus/bacteria, so this is a good transcript to file in the mind while dealing with this epidemic soon to be pandemic.

I read this on huffington post comments:

"The CDC and other officials keep saying that the nurses (Spain and USA) must have had a lapse in protocol, that is why they have contracted Ebola. NO! Their gloves or other protective gear probably leaked or was defective and it went unnoticed. I have been using gloves (one glove per hand) at work for 12 years. Recently my glove leaked and I got someone else's bodily fluid on my hand. EEEKKK! My glove was defective; it had a hole in it. The gloves were 3 years old and not stored properly. They were Brand X gloves made in China. So, the next time I had to glove up, I used TWO gloves per hand. The first glove was pink. The second (double-gloving) was blue. I looked down at my hands, and one of the blue gloves had a hole in it. The pink was showing through. Two gloves with holes. Twice in one day. If the gear you are using is defective, then no amount of safety protocol is going to protect you. Stop blaming the nurses and look at the safety equipment being used! All it takes is one micro hole to let in the coodies. Please share if you know someone who is exposed to or has to collect bodily fluids as a job requirement. And then pray for them."

So maybe this outbreak is as simple as torn gloves . A small hole in a glove seems like it could be worse then wearing no gloves at all. Like your hands could be marinating in "cooties".
I also saw a picture of african health workers with suit and gloves but their wrists were showing. That's probably not a good thing because it could drip in the gloves. Thinking your safe while ebola is just searching for a hang nail.

Its scary yes.........

The way this is being handled here makes you wonder if there is intent........

I feel sorry for the families going through this and the fear in those that care for the people afflicted......

But I have a flight out of DFW Airport tomorrow and im not changing it.....

Its important to take into consideration the seriousness of this virus, and the ways you can and cannot get it......

I mean honestly they are saying THIS nurse had skin exposed on the neck thats how they got it.......Ok well if thats the case then it goes TOTALLY against everything they have been pumping out about how hard it is to get!

Theres a lot of disinformation out in that area, but I would much rather er on the side of caution then to not......

I plan on washing my hands more then normal in that airport! lol

The 2nd nurse flew from Cleveland to Dallas on Frontier airlines, flight 1143, the day before she showed symptoms?

She obviously wasn't restricted in her travel, or being temperature monitored.

source is CNN on television

3rd source

CDCis asking all other passangers of the flight to come forward and call an 800 #. Flight crew said she was asymptomatic.

She probably has family in Cleveland. Oh boy...This is bad.

All passengers on flight are asked to call 1-800-CDCINFO (800-232-4636)
