I loved this... Obama is Awesome... you guys don't know how lucky you are to have such a great strong person leading your country.

It's wonderful to see that even under all the pressure and stress Obama has such an outlook.... And his comic timing is impeccable!

oh come on people.... can't you see that this was a comedy moment... nothing more.

And btw the video in your post above is flawed. Although it is true that a materiel currently being developed reacts like a non Newtonian fluid ... The video in your post does not take into account basic physics.... as in kinetic energy and momentum.... if the man in the suit was to be fired upon in such a manor he would be either flying through the air or if the suit was heavy enough to prevent that at least there would be some serious jerking going on...

And I highly doubt a RPG would be stopped by it...

I remember seeing a video by lockheed or Darpa where it showed an armoured truck that was suited with this special device could stop an RPG before it impact. The device would create something like a force field around the vehicle. I remeber seeing an RPG being fired at it and the RPG exploded about 2 feet away from the truck and the truck suffered little to no damage.

I dont know if its true or not, but could that technology not be used on this exo-suit?

The technology has been around for a few years now... There are two types of this kind of defensive weapon... the first type is using either pure explosive discharges or electromagnetic force to deflect some of the kinetics involved... in other-words explosive Armour that explodes outwards (shaped charge) to reduce the power of the incoming protective.



Then there is this, which uses an electro magnetic discharge... In effect triggering the explosive before impact...



Neither would be applicable to Armour worn by ground troops I might add.

But the video I think you may be talking about and the second type of technology used is the following concerning Trophy.



Now let's be absolutely clear here.. the graphics used in this video are not representative of a force field, more it is a graphic to demonstrate the active radius of the trophy system... which is really a sophisticated tracking and anti-munitions small fire system.
