Good Evening ATS!
I wanted to share with you all an experience I had early Monday morning and hear some opinions as it has been bothering me a bit as the week
progresses. I will try to throw it together and add what i feel to be relevant side stories/facts.
A little background to begin..
My fiancee and i live in a 2 bedroom apartment that we recently moved into (last month actually). We sleep together in the "master" bedroom and our
second bedroom is an office/man room as she would call it. I have been having trouble sleeping due to some stress at work and getting over a back
injury during the move (nothing severe). We both work day shift at the same company, Monday through Friday. She works 6-2:30 and i work 7-3:30 so
there is overlap. I am a very light sleeper, and i wake up to the slightest sounds, so when she gets up to get ready in the morning I am usually
laying there hoping to myself she hurries up! Since we are close to work, she usually leaves for work around 5:45 at the latest. I set my alarm for
6:25, so i can typically lay there and attempt to get an hour or so of more sleep if i manage to fall asleep again.
So Monday morning comes along as usual, typical night for me going into a Monday (tossing and turning, worrying about work, waking up a few times).
Then i hear her alarm and she is up and ready doing her thing. She left for work no later than 5:45, nothing strange yet.
The next thing i remember as I was laying there i "awoke" to hearing banging/footsteps sounding like they were coming from the apartment. I put awoke
in quotes because at this point i do not know if i was having an extremely vivid dream nor do i know if i actually fell asleep to begin with. I looked
at my alarm clock and it was a little earlier than 6:15. I thought it odd that i heard these noises since my fiancee told me she was leaving 30
minutes earlier and if she was still home for some reason, i assume she would have said something since she would be running very late. So I decided
to investigate. This is where it gets weird and i will try to describe it the best i can. Also as a side note, it was still dark out but i have light
from my fish tank in my room that i would be able to see things very clearly even though it was still dark.
My Perspective
I sat up, looked out the window, which is right near the bed (so i do not need to get up, only lean a bit). Then i stood up and started trying to
walk, only to find out that i couldn't move, and i fell to the floor. Now when i fell to the floor, I was in a state of paralysis. I do not recall
being able to see my body in this state. I have had sleep paralysis before (very frightening) where i awoke and was laying in bed, aware of my body,
and not being able to move. The way this happened i was able to move around at first, very aware of my surroundings, etc.
During this state of paralysis, i was able to move my "head" VERY little (Again, i am trying to explain the best i can as i don't think i could see my
body). From my perspective, I was on the floor looking towards the bedroom door which was on the left in front of me, and my bathroom door is straight
ahead in front of me. I was getting scared now at the fact that i could barely move and discovered i could not speak, scream, or make any sound at
all. Now i started worrying.
So i began freaking out, when suddenly right through my closed bedroom door a shadowy figure no larger than a toddler came walking into my bedroom.
It's size came up to maybe the doorknob, which is a little higher than half way on the door. It had the figure of a person, a visible head, two arms,
two legs. It moved almost playfully as it entered my room. It was very good at staying out of my direct line of sight, only being able to spot it from
my peripherals. It didn't run, but it moved quicker than normal walking speed. And it was walking, not floating or flying around. I observed this
figure move towards past the bathroom door, then turn and walk toward the foot of my bed (from my perspective i am laying on the side of the bed). I
then watched it climb onto the bed and was then unable to see it as my paralysis state would not let me turn my vision to look over and up onto the
bed. This lasted a few more seconds until i abruptly snapped out of this state and was laying awake in my bed as i was when i first heard the noises.
So after much thinking, i have come to a few options it could have been.
1. An extremely vivid dream
2. Some sort of out of body experience
3. Sleep paralysis
4. Abduction??
Now, i do want to put in here i have also had out of body experiences and during that state i am not able to see my body either. However, i am not
aware nor have i found anything in my research of anyone having paralysis during an out of body experience except for during an alien abduction. I am
very open minded when it comes to paranormal things but I am open to all opinions as to what it may have been. I truly believe it wasn't a dream
because i was very coherant and awake when i heard these sounds and i sat up, looked at the time, and even looked out the window.
I would love to hear your input, opinions, and questions so please don't hesitate to ask. If i left anything out or need to be more clear please let
me know.
I put a link to a very bad paint picture i quickly drew up to help better explain my room set up, i hope it worked.
Edit: I also want to add that during my past experiences with sleep paralysis and OBE's i never once saw any type of entities, so this was a
first.
