As it moves to consolidate power, army claims to have developed device that defeats deadly virus… with no side effects

AIDS cured! (says Egypt’s military)

What???

Ok, ATS. How much faith do you hold in this news? Am I missing something? Maybe this is Israels version of the Onion? Or, perhaps this is something the Egyptian military are doing to win the support of it's people? Or.. Or.. Maybe they are on to something?

What say you?

Egyptian Gen. Dr. Ibrahim Abdel-Atti, chief of the medical branch. “We defeated AIDS, and rest assured, we defeated AIDS,” Abdel-Atti said Sunday at a press conference.

“And indeed,” he said, according to a translation provided by Egyptian protest group We Are All Khaled Said. “I conquered AIDS with the blessings of my Lord, glory to him, with a rate of 100%.”

“I take AIDS from the patient, and feed the patient on AIDS, I give it to him as a kebab skewer to feed on,” he said, presumably metaphorically. “I take the disease, and I give it to him as food, and this is the top of scientific miracles.”

“And I conquered the ‘C,’” Abdel-Atti added, referring to the Hepatitis C.

“You will never find a patient suffering from the Hepatitis C virus after today, God willing!”

What do you think is this guy's real motivation and purpose?

I like to see proof of this...

To me it seems really far fetched considering some of the top universities and medical research labs in the world haven't been able to do this, yet the Egyptians did it?

I remain skeptical at best.

Oh wow, they are going to electrocute everyone with AIDS that way it can't spread.

An electric shock can kill a virus, that is well known. The old quack boxes could kill most microbes, including viruses, but also killed beneficial microbes. It may even kill our weakened cells though, I wouldn't think it would help someone fight cancer myself.

I'm kind of thinking this uses a frequency to destroy the virus in the blood.

This can't possibly be propaganda from Egypt. What would they gain for it? It will only take a matter of days to confirm if it is true and, if not, Egypt will be a laughing stock with diminished reputation. It simply wouldn't make sense for them to falsely claim this.

There are three possibilities:
1 - It's true.
2 - Israel is trying to smear Egypt's name.
3 - It's a joke article.

For the world's sake, let's hope it's #1. AIDS-Kabob... who would have thought it?

Before I read the article, this is EXACTLY what I thought. They're curing it by killing everone with it.

I don't think they would, but it's possible it could happen. Never know what goes through the military mind in third world countries today.

I'm sure it was only a metaphore.

This is what they had to say on the device.

The new Complete Cure device developed by the military purifies the patient’s blood in a manner similar to a dialysis machine.

There are no side effects, the development team said.

A year ago, Egyptian authorities announced the development of a device called C-fast, which it claimed could detect AIDS and Hepatitis C without taking blood samples. The device, developed from bomb detection technology, is meant to identify the molecular signature of the virus.

Double blind and peer review to follow?

I doubt it...

I wish it were true.

That would require disclosure of the methods. I think postponing and waiting for some medical tourism to run its course is pretty smart. Not the most ethical thing to do but how many other nations are announcing a cure for AIDs?

Well I have a cure. Anesthetize then heat the patient to 1400 degrees . The HIV virus will then be killed.

side effects may include death

If it can detect H-c and HIV , then maybe is a sort of receptor/transmiter of soundwaves or electromagnetic fields? It could be possible.
If that were the case, what strikes me as weird is it coming from egypt, with all the ancient misteries they have, including sound therapy ( old egypt).
Interesting.

If you could figure out a frequency that would cleave some bond within the virus to disable it's ability to replicate without hurting our cells, you could use this frequency to destroy the virus. Now, a virus does mutate to an individuals body so this frequency may vary by a little in everyone...but not much. It is probably based on the metabolic state of the individual also.

Just a guess, there is no testing available to prove this guess.

Curing AIDS would destroy a lot of jobs, this concept would never be allowed in this country.

The speech has elements of nationalistic pride and religious fervor. It has elements of humanitarian scope that you would expect from a medical researcher -- ie, curing aids worldwide.

Wildcards in the speech include the man's public-speaking ability, his culture, Egyptian colloquial language, the caliber of the English translation and other factors I'm sure.

This would be a real gift to humanity if true.

Just wanted to share ...

But it also brings us to the main question: why would Egypt lie about this? Global prestige? Insanity? Trolling?

Hilarious

In order for this kind of strategy to work, you need people to be gullible. And some Egyptians aren't so quick to trust. "I suggest you inject Al-Sisi with the virus and then cure him using the army's invention as means to inaugurate it and prove its efficacy," an Egyptian Twitter user quoted by the BBC said.

Having read the article the following can be stated:

I would like to see the trials, and hope that this is not just merely propaganda. I would like to see it used, with the documentation of the patient before, including the numbers on his blood work, and after the treatments along with the numbers for the patients blood work for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years and 10 years after.

If it is true, that he has a device that can cure HIV, AIDS and Hep C, then he will have shown the world that big pharma is not always the answer, and just maybe there are other directions and possibilities that come out. However, if it can not be proven, then it could cause more problems for a country that already has massive problems right now.

I am hoping that it is a cure, as he is in the right place at the right time, and if he can say cure the people of Egypt and other African nations, showing a significant decrease in the patients with aids, who survived, then by all means, spread out the cure to all parts of the world, and Egypt will once again be an important country, if not one of the most important countries, rivaling that of Paris and Boston Mass.
