Hiya Shedders!

I really am going to catch up tomorrow and reply but I'm having an early night now. I think I must have slept about 10 hours in four days. Phoebes is well, her wound looks very clean, she's eating and drinking as normal, the weather is back to being boring.

Nite nite, stay well!

Not sure how to make the transition from finding the artifact to leaving on a ship. If someone else posts about it, I can follow them maybe.

Gordi knelt quietly among the dust & debris on the floor of the old church, scouring the rubble for clues. Something was very, very wrong. Every fibre of his senses told him that evil had been at work here, but he just couldn’t figure it out yet.
He remembered being in the ruin, and finding... something?
Then it all got a bit...crazy! and everyone rushed off to War!
But, WHY? What had happened that made everyone so war-hungry?

He was convinced that there was more to this than meets the eye, and he just had to find out what it was.

He could see the Altar and the Dragonstone... There was the broken bough of a large tree which had crashed through the old roof at some point, and a big ragged hole in the floor... A rope... and...
“WAIT A MINUTE!!” He cried,
“We found a Scroll down in the chamber beneath that opening! I’m SURE we did. It was.... it was... an Elvish riddle? Or a challenge of some sort?”
And he ran over to the opening and peered in.
Sure enough, there in the dark chamber lay an ancient scroll, but wary of what had happened before, he decided to try and retrieve the parchment without physically entering the chamber... maybe they had been the victims of a spell?

He quickly went to the large entrance doorway of the church and looked around for some Goosegrass. “We used to call this stuff STICKY WILLY when I was wee” he thought aloud. And it was called STICKY WILLY for a reason...
He pulled a cord from his jacket pocket and tied a bundle of Goosegrass to one end as he strode back inside to the edge of the opening.
Casting the bundle down into the chamber below, it fell onto the parchment and Stuck Fast! A quick pull on the cord and he had the scroll in his hands.
“Right! Now to Work!” He looked at the writing on the scroll and suddenly remembered; “Damn! It’s in ancient Elvish, and I only know a few words, but hang on... Nightstar translated this for us already.... I’m sure she did! Now, what was it again???

“From broken branch to swirling sea,
The path shall wind to set him free.
But dither not, nor seek ye rest,
Until ye hath completed quest.

For sands of Time are flowing now,
From valley-low to hill-top how?
A game in motion ye hath set,
But Evil lurks in darkness yet.”

“THAT’S IT!!!” he exclaimed!
There must be a path from near here, which winds down to the Sea, where the abandoned fleet of Pirate Ships are?
Our challenge must be to FREE someone...... THE GUARDIAN!!!
Of Course! Nightstar had pointed out that The Guardian of the Dragonstone was missing! That’s It!!!

But Why had this been forgotten before??? Who or What was powerful enough to take the Guardian, AND to cast a spell on all of us to make us forget?? Why had they left the Dragonstone??
So many questions!!! and.... Where was the path??
Could it be the tunnel the guys had spotted running off from the chamber below??

“From broken branch to swirling sea...”?
Hang on... there was a BIG broken BRANCH right next to the Altar at the entrance to the chamber! This HAD to be it!

“I think I’m gonna need some help for this next part!” he mused... “Staring down into the dark tunnel...”

With that, Jane snuck up behind Gordi,
"What the f**k woman! danae do that tae a man!"
"Ach, whisht yer bletherin ye bam pot" she said with a grin. Gordi chuckled at her pathetic attempt at the Scottish accent.
"Don't you know who The Guardian is?" she asked. "It's Jacy. That's why she's been missing. But don't worry, I've got the Dragonstone and once we get Jacy and the stone reunited she'll have her awesome powers back again".

"That's all very well, but who's got her? Whatever this beastie is must be pretty powerful to take her away and set us to war".
"It's opportunistic Gordi. It managed to separate Jacy from her familiar, the dragonstone. Once they are reunited, it will be nothing again. We all have our own familiar or talisman which gives us each our own individual talents. Jacy combined with her dragonstone though, is the glue that binds the rest of us Rainbow Warriors together, That's why she is The Guardian. Her powers, when combined with the dragonstone magnifies all our individual powers. As individuals we are powerful in our own right. The evil one forgot or didn't know to take the dragonstone when it took Jacy. If it had and then manipulated Jacy's energies with the dragonstone, we would have lost that battle. Get it now?"

"Aye, OK. Yes I do. Well what are we waiting for? Let's go get her! I take it you have some idea where she is?"

"Oh yes......." Jane pulled out her wand, which immediately ignited to give a clear but warm glow down the tunnel, "You ready?" she asked
"To damned right I am! Let's go get the lass.....we can't cast off without our Guardian now can we" he said with a huge grin.

G'Night Tsu!
Sleep Tight.

I'll sing you a wee lullaby...

Stars shining bright above you,
night breezes seem to whisper, "Was THAT you?".
Birds gagging in the sycamore tree,
"Dream a little dream of me".

Say "nighty-night" and sniff me.
Just hold your nose and tell me you'll miss me.
While I'm alone and rank as can be,
dream a little dream of me...

Ahhh isn't it beautiful?

KEWL!
Excuse me? I thought my version was beautiful??? LOL

Anyways...

Jane’s wand glowed bright and strong, and it soon became clear that the tunnel was long and not particularly straight.
“The long and Winding Road” Gordi sung to himself...
The beautiful carved stonework of the chambers beneath the church had given way to damp, bare rock, with jagged edges, and the calm serenity of the holy place had given way now to darkness, cold and a feeling of apprehension as the brave fellows searched forever onwards.

“From broken branch to swirling sea,
The path shall wind to set them free.”

“Right we’ve got that bit” said Gordi, “we have to follow this path to free the guardian”
"But dither not, nor seek ye rest,
Until ye hath completed quest.”

“Oh no... was THAT how we got tricked into waging war?? Because we dithered before taking action to save Jacy??”

”For sands of Time are flowing now,
From valley-low to hill-top, how?”

“We need to figure this next bit out Jane” said Gordi, “I’m sure that’s the key to the riddle? Because we already know that..
”A game in motion ye hath set,
But Evil lurks in darkness yet.”

“How can sands flow uphill??”
“Beat’s me!” replied Jane, “Let’s press on..”

On and on they went, until at last, they rounded a bend and saw.... a faint light up ahead... It was low down... the floor of the tunnel seemed to dip down towards it, and they sensed a change in the air?? Like...the fresh salt-laden air of the sea?
The hard, bare rock of the tunnel floor felt different now, it was... softer? It gave a little more with each step, walking became harder somehow, even though they were travelling downhill now?
“Can you feel that?” asked Jane.
“Aye! It’s the Sea breeze Alright!” was Gordi’s swift response, “But why is the path getting harder to travel? When it looks all downhill to me”
“LOOK!” said Jane in reply...

There at their feet was a thickening layer of fine sand... it was blowing UP the tunnel from the beaches far below. For centuries, the sands had been blowing in there and getting deeper and deeper, making each step a mighty effort in itself.

“For sands of Time..... Flowing UPHILL!!! THAT’s IT!!!” cried Gordi.
“The sand is blowing UP into the tunnel, and has been throughout the ages... I think we’re getting... near!”

PS - Time for Bed methinks!
The witching hour is fast approaching.

"It's Archimedes Screw!" cried Jane. "I know, I know that was to do with water which is tangible compared to wind. But the evil one has found a way to apply it to the etheric realm. You know what this means don't you?"

Gordis scientific mind kicked into overdrive, "Aye lass, we are going to have to cross time and space to find the screw and reverse it."
"Precisely. Are you up for it?" she asked
"Too effing right I am to get our Jacygirl back" he declared with a wicked glint in his eye. "I take it you know how to bend the fabric of time 'cos I dunna have a clue?"
"What do you think Rainbows are for?" she retorted with a grin.

Booger, knocked my last rum over, and all over my ciggy papers......Your turn Gordi...I'm off for a quick bike ride to local garage to get some rollin papers!

Night could smell the salt air and feel the soft sand beneath her feet. "Where am I? How did I get here?"

She saw she was not alone. The tree guardian stood by her side, red hair flying in the sea breeze a smile across her lips. "You are where you need to be, the rest you'll figure out for yourself. Soon, all your fellow warriors will join you in your journey. Remember, the trees are eternal and they do not sleep."

Night began to reply but the guardian of the trees had disappeared. She sheltered her eyes from the sun and noticed Dawg and Homer heading for the ocean. An ocean with raging waves and beautiful ships, some air borne, just waiting. Gently she walked across the shore heading to a dragon ship. Ever so slowly it dipped down and landed on the water so that she could board. Once aboard, she explored the ship and found that a couple of the dragons were with her. She sighed deeply with relief, not wanting to be alone. Still...

She did feel alone, terribly alone and frightened. Why were the warriors being separated? They were friends, family, soulmates and needed each other. Perhaps it was best and doing battle against the dark forces would be best if they separated. It's not what she wanted. It was the last thing she wanted. She stood on deck covered in sea mist, looking out to the shore, fearful of their futures and what may come to be. She ran her delicate hands through silken strands of hair as drops of tears fell silently down her face.

Cheer up Night

foss woke with a start, feeling the steady motion of the boat hitting the water. "I knew it" he grumbled, "I never should have bet Homer that I could teleport off of his ship with my eyes closed. Now where am I?"

Climbing to his sore feet he took in his surroundings; bright light streamed through a row of tinted windows. He could smell the salt in the air, but heard nothing - the fact that he was below deck was obvious. Looking out the double portal in front, he could see a small collection of ships gathered - the one with Homer & TDawg floating above the rest.

"Figures, they're already heading out ahead of the pack". Yawning, foss silently crept up the stairs, and around a sleeping dragon. "Aha" he grinned, "it appears that I am on board one of the Lady's ships, for none of the guys had any dragons. Wonder where Jacy's at; as the dragons are usually her thing".

Finding no-one on the mid-level of the ship; foss stow away to the open deck, only to find Night standing alone, crying.

"Alright" he said, looking more puzzled by the minute, "I must have missed something here...Where is everyone? Aren't we supposed to be going to battle? And how is it that the captains log ended on page 400?"

Night, drying her tears and attempting to smile, simply said "It's a bit of a long story, and you slept through most of it by about 3 pages or so...You might as well make yourself at home, and listen to what has happened".

Night filled Foss in on all that had happened lately and then gave him the biggest hug ever. "Thank the Gods you are here with me, I was so frightened! Oh and...I hope this ship knows how to navigate by itself because I have no clue how to drive a ship. Do you????" She was laughing and crying at the same time. So relieved that she didn't have to face the journey alone. The dragons were a comfort, but it just wasn't the same as human companionship.

"I saw some fantastic food and booze on the lower decks. Want to check it out? I could really use a drink right now or two or three." She laughed and hugged Foss again. "Sorry. I was just so scared." She lowered her eyes and smirked.

Before officially setting sail, someone ought to be keeping track of these new editions onto the story - I'd hate to see all of them vanish at the end of the line.

And Nice addition, as always.

@TDawg - Wait, this is writing? I thought I was having fun amongst friends.
