The Shed Part 8
Jacy struggled to her feet, and the baby dragon flapped about, landing on her shoulder. The two looked at each other, nose to nose as Jane stood by
watching and smiling.
"She's been waiting for you. Do you remember her now?"
"I do! She's my guardian, isn't she?"
"Please don't speak about me as if I am not here?" Whimsy said, looking from Jacy to Jane rather disapprovingly.
Jane reached over to stroke the little dragon's face, "Wee Whim, don't sulk...your girl here needs a magic lesson before our guests start
arriving."
"This is cool!" Jacy exclaimed..."Sophie will love you!"
Whimsy was still being dramatic, "That squirrel? Hmph...I can't believe you actually thought she was I, initially. I am your guardian in EVERY
lifetime you live...and I promise that I NEVER ever will present myself as a squirrel!"
"She's a ferret!" Jacy interjected.
Non-plussed, Whimsy carried on..."Seriously? Last time you were a baroness, and I was your falcon. Now you are a Canadian nobody with a gerbil.
What happened?"
Jacy frowned and looked down at her feet. "I dunno....karma?"
Whimsy belched a little smoke ring at her human and coughed "peasant" sarcastically as she circled the room and flew out.
"Magic?" Jane grinned.
"Show me what you've got!" Jacy agreed.
Suddenly Cody ran past the two girls, muttering 'badminton racquet' under his breath. He disappeared down a long corridor, and after some banging
and clattering, emerged victorious. Grasping the racquet in one hand, he came back to proclaim, "Found it!"
"Are you putting together a team?" Jacy inquired innocently.
"No," he laughed..."it's for the jam session!"
Then he held the racquet across his body and proceeded to play 'Stairway to Heaven'...perfectly, I might add. (Jimmy Page would've been proud.)
"Hey now, just a minute!!" Jacy sputtered..."That's not even a real guitar!"
"Wot's real?" Cody replied, disappearing out the door.
"Magic?" Jacy asked.
"Magic." Jane replied.
"Is it really that easy?"
"Yes, it's very simple. Focus and intent. Focus your mind on what you want to see/do/feel, etc...and make it your intent. Practise on something
small, but you'll get the hang of it in no time."
"Wow, okay....well....I always wanted to be able to sing?" Jacy said sadly. "Now that really would be magic, if I could sing well."
"Focus and intent!" Jane reminded her.
Jacy closed her eyes and focused really hard on singing with a strong and beautiful voice. She opened her mouth and began crooning, hoping to hear
Adele's voice coming out...magically. Unfortunately, she coughed and croaked a bit, and gave up about 3 bars into what would have been 'Rolling in
the Deep'.
Whimsy flounced overhead, saying "Really ought to give up smoking Jacy girl!"
"Back atcha beast!" she retorted, ducking to miss a well-aimed flame.
"Keep practising Jacy, I have to go back to the kitchen. Mind you, you'll need to master this before the party begins. Everyone will be using
their magic, and the cookie you pick up off a plate may be an oyster before you get it to your mouth. That's one of Rod's tricks. Oh, and feel
free to redecorate! All you must do is focus on what you want. I will see you in a little bit."
Jacy threw herself down into a chaise lounge, wanting desperately to be good at something. Over and over she practised her singing, "The scars of
your love, they leave me breathless.....la la la...we could have had it allllllll!"
Closing her eyes, she started thinking about the party...who would show up...and what would she wear?
Whimsy fluttered back in and settled on the arm of the chaise.
"How about a peasant dress?" she mocked.
"How about a wing clip?" Jacy bantered back.
Then she curled up with a smile on her face.
"Banana dreams," whispered Whim.
