Actually, it's relatively primitive technology to pinpoint a radio signal from deep space. We don't need to send a message saying where we are. The signal could just be non-stop TLC reality show broadcasts if we wanted to attract malevolent aliens.

Anyhow, if the evil aliens did come, why do we assume everyone would band together against them?

Because out of everyone there is one the strongest and one the weakest. Everyone would band with the strongest and he or she would go against them. None of us could join them so we'd have to beat them. Either join and submit or fight. There wouldn't be an option to flee or hide, that is at some point in the future those in hiding would have to either come out or be discovered since humanity doesn't have the means to recreate a perfect mini ecosystem.

No, because that would mean the invaders could be communicated with. There might be or not. It is more likely not. It's either Earth side or invader side and people would have to decide right away and not change their minds later since it would appear like they would be traitors, not very trustworthy or loyal. Those siding with could be destroyed right away and ET would just laugh at them.

The only way all nations and peoples would band together to fight the bad aliens would be if it was orchestrated from within (ie faked from Earth.) If it were real, it would only last until either A) the threat was eliminated, leaving behind advanced weaponry to fight each other with or B) humanity was eliminated.

Well maybe we have been fighting all along and now we have pretty advanced weaponry. How about life on Earth was exposed to alien technology trillions of years ago and it involved time travel and life from Earth (from the future compared to the life which saw future life fighting the alien threat). So they fought off the threat but at the same time destroying everything creating the bigbang which had to happen otherwise the technology wouldn't become real.

Sort of like having a huge planet with primitive unknowing life, then a threat comes along and gives inspiration for new ideas to form but at the same time the entire planet was shot up in a bigbang then at the end of it life knows what happened and creates a device to 'heal' the huge planet thus having a healing device but also a weapon to defend itself with.
