Using the psychic powers bestowed upon me by the good people of Orion- I should have seen that one coming.

The most recent thread to appear on this site has the thread number 999054.
In other words, we are now one hundred threads closer to the number one million than we were when this thread began.

My guess yesterday would have been next Friday, but perhaps things have speeded up for the weekend.
Late Thursday?

The most recent thread is now 999252.
That's 300 thread numbers in two days, with 750 to go.
By my calculations, that points to next Friday evening.

I predict that the one - millionth thread will be authored by none other than...wait for it...

I find (on my browser, anyway) that if I run the cursor over the title of the thread in forum lists etc., the URL including the thread number turns up onscreen- in my case, bottom left-hand corner.

There was an even more alarming suggestion a few posts back- did you see it?
Somebody used the "B" word (and it wasn't Beezzer).

There is a good chance the 1,000,000th thread could end up in the Trash Bin, wooohooo.

Or as I suggested in the OP, it might be a staff-only thread, some complaint like "That guy called me a shill!", and we won't be allowed to see it in the first place.
Life being what it is, some such anti-climax seems more than likely.
PS If anyone's posting "My middle wife a quadrisexual from Orion", that one is a definite candidate.

So are the mods planning some kind of 'prize' or one of a kind recognition event. That would be nice, in all seriousness I hope the 1 millionth thread is truly worthy and deserving!! Who knows maybe something incredible will happen simultaneously in the world, that would really be a befitting way to mark this event... We can only hope, the countdown is on ATS.

Darn I went back to edit my previous post, not enough zeros, oh well.

By my estimation, the winning number will be thursday afternoon... at some point.
I wonder if there will be some "posting lockdown" for the golden thread?

I'd expect to see many new members & threads,
all trying to take a snipe shot at that milestone.
but most likely, it will be business as usual.
